The 355 doesn't lock up underbreaking, the rear loses traction because he doesn't heal and toe. Because of the 355's loud howling exhaust you can tell he's not revmatching his downchanges. At the exact moment the back steps out he's just gone down a gear, as he's let the clutch out without heal and toe-ing the sudden missmatch in revs has caused the rear wheels to lose traction for a second, and because he was on the brakes and was already turning there is only one result!
I like this video, cause the dudes in the car didn't laugh at all. They were sorry for the car and it's driver altough he/she was rich person who can't handle a really good car. And that's the right way I think. In eastern Europe people just laugh when somebody crashes an expensive car just becuse they can't afford one. Me neither, but I love cars and a crashed Ferrari is a sad thing.
@dylanv100 because it's one of the most dangerous race track , so when it's raining, and there's a lot of cars around you, driving safe is the most intelligent thing to do.....
@FenderUsa not really im fortunate enough for my dad to own an E60 M5 which is just as quick as that particular Ferrari and he also owns a 1961 Corvette (red with white inserts) which i find is sounds better than any Ferrari I have heard. Although i do admit id like to own a Ferrari lol
@aprilia123 man you are driving really slow and when you are suppesed to drive in a truck the first thing you do is to turn on the edge of the corner... but if the car wasn't yours ok... i would have done the same as you.. i wouldn't like to crash it... sorry :)
I don't really get how that happened. My only guess was he was turning too sharply. He wasn't gunning it or anything. BUT, he probably has more than enough money to get it fixed, so that's good.
The way that happened was by entering the turn at too great a speed for his driving abilities. He was nervous and stayed on the brakes as he turned in. This is a HUGE "no-no" in MR or RR cars because when the chassis "leans forwards" under braking it takes the weight off the rear tires . This creates less normal force on the rear tires, which they need to develop friction with the road surface, and since so much of an MR or RR car's momentum is over the rear tires, the back end easily comes out.
u have 2 be a big ass mooron to drive medal to the pedal car on a wet track...hello..WET TRACK!! a "not"driver siting behind a ferrari...damn...! watch out next time..go learn how to drive proper ferrari then learn how to drive THIS ferrari ona a track!
@XxTabasc0xX ...yeah right...,that corner, where ferari crashes,u can just go straight and slide into the outside wall,if u're speeding, but when u open to much the throtle in the middle of a turn, then, the wet track have no more much grip, then u have this scenario..a crash in the innerside of the wall...simple is that :)
@Mirage8v Nor have you, I'll wager. This guy took his new, mid-engined, high-powered car out onto a soaked track complete with no skills; lots of nervousness; and probably all season 335's. A Ferrari doesn't handle any better in that situation than any other car driven by the same guy. He would've crashed an MX-5 in the same place.
@Axetele How wrong you are good sir. 328, 348's, 355's and a 550. Of which all except the 550 on a track. And they are not that high power really. Especially with how much they weigh as well.
@Mirage8v 335 referred to the rear tire treadwidth. There's no way he re-shod his car with rain tires for a trackday, so he was probably out there with high performance summer tires. Which is why it looked like he was on ice when he went into the wall.
Regarding insurance a mate of mine had a mildly tuned Impreza. He was honest and told his insurance company he was visiting the ring for a couple of days, they covered his entire time, including travellng there and back, and recovery of the car back to the UK if he stuffed it, for £1200 which he reckoned was worth paying. All was fine and the car came back without a scratch.
Unless your insurance company specifically states in the policy, that cover on the Nurburgring is excluded, you should be ok albeit have a chew on. My mate binned his fireblade and they paid out
I'm not sure who told you that graham but nearly all standard insurance policies state that they do not cover for racing, track driving or competition. Those are separate polices and even then 99% of those policies do not cover you for the Ring.
Drivers who do the Ring do so at thier own risk, if you bin it you pay for it, that's how it is.
Well 20yrs in insurance helps!!! The ring is not a race track 'IT IS A TOLL RD', the policy has to be very specific and state nurburgring as it is unique. My mate officially was on a toll rd and not racing!
I totally understand that it is a toll road and 'technically' insurance companies 'should' cover you unless they explicitly state the Ring as an exclusion but the reality is that they don't, as they will argue that the Ring is considered a track for insurance purposes.
If you speak to people who have had collisions at the Ring they will tell you how important it is to have the car removed as far from the Ring as possible and even then insurance companies can get suspcious and refuse cover.
Yea point taken, and irrespective of my comments, I would not suggest that anybody assumes they are covered on the ring. I will be there again in May, roll on!
The first person at the scene of an accident is supposed to stop... Witness and all things like that, I'd be pissed if I crashed and no-one stopped to see if all was good...
Cant believe you didnt stop.... Being as it is a public toll road under German law you are supossed to stop at the scene of an accident. You risk being prosecuted if you dont and are found out..
A public toll road? hahahah have you ever been there? It's a closed road. If you crash there ... no insurance.. no nothing... and def no one who is being prosecuted. Maybe if you kill some one during the race... But not for something like that... the Ferrari driver just underestimated the wetness of the road. He was breaking and steered to sharp in to the bend.
I've also been there a couple of times I race a lot on the TT circuit of Assen and in Zandvoort. There is no insurance company that covers the risks of racing(as far as I know). Okay maybe Delta Lloyd (that will cover anything) but it will a pretty expensive insurance. I think you just mean that the car has to be in "normal" conditions. And I also agree with you that if it is a really bad crash and there are no marshals to help the crashed driver than you stop. This was just a little crash.
I got talking to a German policewoman last time I was there. The Ring is owned by Stadt Rheinland Pfalz (like the council), & managed by Nurburgring GmbH. There are speed limits & it's officially a public toll toad. UK insurance may wangle their way out of paying any claim on there, but the rest of Europe doesn't. It may not be a UK public toll road, but it most definitely is a public toll road.
You're wrong LeoVies, the Ring 'is' subject to the same basic laws as the German highway. Despite the fact it is track it is considered as a public road and German Law applies just the same. If you break those laws you can be flagged in for a penalty or even prosecuted.
Bullshit. The Ring is a Racetrack in Germany, and not on the same "level" like the Highways or any other Streets in Germany. There are just Days on wich everybody can drive for Money. Your Insurance must secure Racetrack crash's or your done if you crash on the ring.
do you actually understand anything about how grip works?
so what your saying is that there are no straights what so ever on the circuit? here is a suggestion, read a book about motorsport and then drive round the ring yourself before you comment on things, becuase if you had been round it you'd know there are tonnes of breaking points before corners!
