The fire starts at around 0:15 and by 1:25 heavy smoke is pouring out the front door. That's how long those people had to get out of there. One whiff of that smoke and you pass out, and then you get trampled, suffocated, or burned. There were multiple exits but almost no one used them because they were not aware of them. So everyone bottle necked at the front double doors. Also, I have always thought that blaring alarms do more harm than good in these situations. You can't hear each other.
I was Supposed to go to this show that might. I only lived a half mile away and opted to stay home. Alot of my co workers went that night one was trying to help people out it had started just before he got there and people'a skin was just melting in his hands. Such a shame an the worst is the fire department is between my old house and where it happened.
The sad thing was that that night club in Rhode Island had multiple exits; but because of everyone's panic, they all (or most) tried to rush out of one exit door.
@Madizzle90 my cousin was in the front row and survived but her fiance didnt but she said that the reason that they all went out one exit is because the bouncers were told not to let people out of the side doors and for some idiotic reason they never let anyone out of those doors and thanks to them my cousin was burnt over 40% of her physical being and 100% of her mental and emotional being
I remember seeing the full video to this on true gore, its fucking insane how fast that fire spreads and in less than a minute, the main exit is totally clogged with people that cannot move. like 45 seconds later, massive flames are billowing out of that main exit cooking people alive
@kittykatt03176708 Its like a doll burning on a cross surrounded by flames predicting HIS own dying and fading away, it dark and im just gonna let a tear over my face and walk out of the factory
i can never forget this night, this has to be the worst tragedy alongside the twin towers, its so sad to see and hear about all those people dying and it could have been prevented !! so so sad ;(
This fire is the reason we have break away doors and doors the open going toward the public. That is a actual fire code standard. I am a volunteer firefighter and I had to write a paper about it. The unedited version of this video is sad.
@Maintenancelawncare i agree),the night that this happened, the news showed everything,i even watched a guy take off his jacket and hold 1 end while giving other end to a women, and tried to pull her out,but couldnt because she was at bottom of the pile of people,i was freaked out when i saw that,he tried,he really did,he is a hero in my book
@finsituation; the manager probably didn't know, you never can KNOW something like this is going to happen, but as a manager you can and should take every reasonable precaution to prevent it from happening. If there was no fire retardant foam, and if the stage was too small for the pyros used (which judging from the video it blatantly was), and if there wasn't enough extinguishers back stage then, although it can't have been predicted, it could have been prevented.
@mallyjj87 and what else is sad,is that this 1 video from inside was showing us that he was backing up and leaving,he knew something was wrong, but everyone was screaming and enjoying the piros and not realizing that it was going wrong,so sad isnt it?
@TheKevin1126 do you think the manager knew that the pyros would set up a fire, fuck you i wish YOU would be one of those who died painfully, unhumanly and slowly there instead of 100 people who just wanted to have fun. You need to realise nobody cant predict things like this asshole. stop posting shit on videos like this
You have to understand the gross neglegence involved with this tragedy including the asshole bouncer that was refusing to let people go out the stage exit door!! That son of a bitch should have been prosecuted along with the owners who refused to buy fire retardant foam because it was a little to pricey for their wallets and the retarded great white band manager who shot off those gerbs. They had performed prior to this at clubs where management refused to let them use Pyro.
Reports from witnesses: The bouncers were not aware of the tragedy unfolding inside until it was too late. The few patrons that had pushed past the bouncer on the stage door stated that the door was then slammed shut. One guy re-opened This door from the outside, a few seconds later but, no one was there to exit. what did "THE KEVIN" call this guy "a*## ","s@tch", did not get out himself, and Paid for "A"Mistake with HIS LIFE. do you think he has paid enough Kevin?
I saw the 6.5 min unedited video of this at a fire safety class this week. Let me tell you I'll always look for fire exits at any club (or anywhere else) I go to from now on...
@miclassicarcade Because at first everyone thought it was part of the show. And by the time they realised they were in danger it was too late and the fire had gotten to out of control. So ppl just panicked and crowded the doors trying to get out.
@RedFuelDelux Do you honestly understand what you're saying? Around 100 people were killed, very slow and painful deaths, and you're making light of it? That's not just disturbing, it's disgusting. I'm assuming you said something like that for the 'shock factor' and really, there's no shock anymore that people like you exist. Stop, and think, before you respond to tragedies like this. Being an attention whore doesn't mean you have to show complete lack of compassion.
@brunettediablo that's what white people do man, they ALWAYS make those horrible comments, look at other videos, you'll see....that's the way they are, soulless and heartless immoral subhumans...
The sad thing is you look around in the video and you see these people and they are all happy having a good time. But whats sad is a good amount of these ppl died that night. Im assuming most of the ppl that were in the front area towards the stage didnt make it....
omfg this is just horrible!!! and to think it happened just down my street while i was sleeping :'( my friend's mother and also father died in this i feel horrible about this
This was a tragedy but the money hungry families of the victims are out of control. I mean the sued jbl for the speakers, the camera guy, home depot, budweiser and the state of rhode island. That is the american justice system at its worst.Hell if i start my house on fire can i sue bic for making lighters and hess for selling gas?? MONEY wont bring them back.
Ever since I saw the extended footage of this which was horrifying, it has made me take fires seriously. Whenever I stay in a hotel, I ask for a first or second floor. And whenever I go to a nightclub, I check to see where the exits are... just in case.
Pathetic, washed up hair band, unable to deal with that fact that they're reduced to playing bars, uses pyrotechnics under a 10 foot roof. Disgraceful. Great White and their inability to give themselves a reality check is what killed those hundred people. The fact that Great White got off as easy as they did is a disgrace!
@MrSickes How can you blame Great White? they played a millions of places before The Sation. nothing ever happend, you need to blame the owners as well as the fire department for not checking out those ceilings a little better and informing the owners that you can not use pyrotechnics with such highly flammable foam. How was the band sopost to know what's up there?
It isnt great whites fault it is the owners of the club asshole!!! they said it was ok to have pyro there.. it isnt the bands fault they didnt know. And i have seen many bands play there before that have had pyro too! It is the owners fault all the way. It was in their establishment so they are the one's at fault!!! They should have never had pyro.. Also they shouldnt have had so many people in there either!!! that place was overloaded...
You may have cut the tape, but the screaming at the end is graphic enough as it is...
WPRI TV paid an out-of-court settlement on the claim that the video reporter 'obstructed escape and not offering help'. What did he (you?) do according to the accusers? Grab a hammer and board up all exits? Where's their proof??
@dedeurs obstructed escape? my ass! he was moving faster than anyone, because his camera was pointed back it might appear like HE was the obstruction for people behind him but there were others in front of him.
You don't understand anything about survival's urge, do you? These people were not trained to act cool, calm and collected in life threatening situations. Actually very few of us are able to suppress panic.
this is the edited version of what happened. the un-edited version is appx 9 minutes long. This is with out a doubt one of the most horrible things ever caught on film and i caution anyone that views it.
are you crazy of course they did!!! I know who the owners are and they are not very well liked from my point of view. They have had pyro in there before.. I know because i have been there before to see bands play and the owners let alot slide in there... If you wanted to see a band there and the tickets were sold out one of the owners would give a business card and write his name on the back of it so when you got to the dooryou would show the bouncer and he would let people in!! all their fault
well you would be wrong to place the entirety of the blame on just those people; the malfeasance can be traced back to fire marshall dennis larocque ignoring the foam that had covered the walls (which created such a quick and devastating blaze) and consistently raising the occupancy level (up from 317 to 404) even though several complaints and violation had already been issued and cited against the club by neighbors and the fire dept.
Wow it makes you realize how fragile life really is...those unlucky headbangers had no idea they were about to die...that's horrifying :( R.I.P. Pyro should be banned from all concerts!
@s7o0a0p That's a little extreme. Pyrotechnics are used at hundreds of concerts and events everyday without incident. Just because these guys were stupid enough to shoot fireworks directly into walls, inside of a tiny club with no sprinklers, doesn't mean that we should completely ban the use of Pyro.
very eerie to see those people having fun in the crowd and to know a lot of those faces will be dead in under a minute..when the camera is outside, you can hear people screaming from the inside who have caught on fire...

geezzz...in the end of frame 1:05 to 1:07 you can see the guitarist Ty Longley come back on stage from outside to get his guitar and smash into someone who is in a blind panic also on stage and he goes tumping off stage , he didn't make it out . I still can believe someone would run back into a burning building for a guitar, very sad and people should learn from this. Your chances of getting back out are very slim to none.
@ynkno13 there was at one point a MUCH longer version of the video that was in 2 parts and went for about 25 minutes or so. Such a tragedy, really feel for the people who lost their loved ones. It's always painfull to see how long it takes for people to react while they are in danger.

Such a tragedy, really feel for the people who lost their loved ones. It's always painfull to see how long it takes for people to react while they are in danger.
