Well, it wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it very much! Carter's music is notoriously difficult, you have to get those temporal modulations right on for the piece to work perfectly. But nevertheless I think you did a really great job on it, I could feel your enthusiasm.
I wonder if this "canaries" is related to the french baroque dance pieces because of the namesake and similar rythms. speaking of french baroque, have you heard of the march for timpanis by Philidor ?
I think it is entitled "canaries" due to the dotted 8th, 16th, 8th note rhythm that permeates the piece. No, I have not heard any Philidor. I'll try and check it out. Thanks for commenting and watching.
sorry for being rude, i didn't mean to be. i know the piece and play timpani myself in the uk. i dont understand you reason for putting this on the internet thats all. oh and p.s i'm not in to carter and can't stand the pieces.
Wow, thanks for the comment. Actually the piece is played pretty accurately. If by awful you mean the sounds on the center of the timpani, then I must let you know that that's how Elliot Carter notated it. Well, whatever you are entitled to your opinion. Thanks for watching and sorry for wasting your time. lol.
chef on the drums :D

no esta mal, sin embargo no siento que haya musicalidad, aun puedes trabajar en eso.
otra cosa que note es que golpeas casi siempre en el centro del timbal, y esto hace que no suene musical el golpe.
espero que te sirva eso.

hmmm. the timing is quite strange on some of the metric modulations. blatantly wrong. maybe you should get the recording of dan druckman doing it.
mighty925mouse 4 years ago
I do have the druckman recording. I just suck. Thanks for watching.

It's cool man, I guess its a matter of opinion. What kind of solo repertoire do you play on timp? Or do you just do the orchestral stuff?
