Hello Doug/Ross,if you watching this. It's the first time I've come across any P.Noise songs. You were much more prolific with this out than were with LP. It's very good for its time, and this video demonstrates an early predilection for the tired and emotional persona! It's quite a haunting spectacle,in the light of what later performances you showcased : 'The Staircase At St Germain" and "Lend Me Five Euros (You Know I"ll Pay You Back" being thee pinnacle of your Gallic phase.
Thanks for posting this classic. Ross was, like Billy MacKenzie, possessed of a great Scottish voice and PN proof that much of the best music of 80/81 was made north of the border. Put this on a party tape and slam it into Buzzcocks' Love You More!
ross is aliveandwell. we have been in regular contact since this was posted. great days and gaff/middleton album in the pipeline!watch out for the book/movie!! Siblings in Rock- how i survived. don't know what happened to the swiss ballerina.
Les Gaff, bloody hell! It's been over 20 years since I saw you, from your old friend Stevie. Glad Ross is alive and well, looking at the Positive Noise videos brings back so many memories.
I was at that Cabaret Futura gig and you were ace. I fancied Ross but he was with some Swiss ballerina. What ever happened to him? He was an immense talent. I know he did Leisure Process for a while then he just completely disappeared. Someone told me she ran across him in Berlin in the late 80s and he had a really bad heroin problem. Is this true (I'm asking Les Gaff who I assume is the real Les Gaff ie drummer).
ive been trying to access this for years we planned hijack the first london marathon as a publicity stunt, however, we slept in and the IRA beat us to it! the live footage is from cabaret futura and we took to the stage after watching footage of ronald reagan being. a great experience but i wish i knew more about sibling rivalry at the time!! les gaff(drummer extrodinaire)
I saw you support Toyah at the Liverpool Empire c 1980 and went to HMV the following day to buy Change of Heart, which has been played to death and now jumps so much there are only a few tracks that you can actually listen to all the way through! Did you ever put this (and Heart of Darkness) onto CD? Would love to be able to listen to you again.
gladu remember this.Funnily enough ive been sorting out old tapes and stuff from bands and then the charm video appears! My 2 daughters are impressed.ive got no knowledge of any of the albums being on cd. i paid £8 for the change of heart tape on e bay recently.i much prefer the early stuff. you can see what iam up to now if you google cashbackpoject. i remember meeting andy mccluskey from OMD after the liverpool Empire Gig.
Is this you going to your gig at the Bungalow!

Excellent! Vocals are more Charlie Higson (ie. 'Switch') than Billy MacKenzie though!

My favourite Positive Noise single. Helped make 1981 really exciting, musically, for me! Still fresh-as-hell!
