Back then, there still was a balance between artistry and commercialism in music. Sure, there was still some bad music then (every decade has its fair share), but nowadays, there's no balance anymore. It's all shallow, corporate product the majority of which is released by 3 mega corporations.

Went solo & moved to New York City in '81 & worked w. guitarist Steve Stevens among others. Although he almost lost his leg in motorcycle accident in '90, Billy Idol still performing & touring w.
