Archipenko never carried a big reputation among Mike De Kock horses. But he was a magnificent money spinner for De Kock. He won stakes races all over the world for him.
Archipenko still has a bit of run left in him. I was impressed with him when he pulled out the win at Sha Tin in the 2008 Audemars Piguet Q.E.II Cup in Hong Kong. Then ran a great race to win the 2009 Zabeel Mile in this race in Dubai.
Archiepnko is a very quality runner I was lucky enough to see when he ran 2nd in the Arlington Million. His jockey that day, O'Shea, didnt give him the best of rides, letting Spirit One and Mount Nelso set easy fractions. Surprisingly for me, Archipenko was only in 3rd along the backstretch and on the final turn, and then was stuck on the rail when Johnny Murrtagh on the fading Mount Nelson employed some race riding tactics. As a result, Archipenko wasnt able to get clear until too late.

Crafty, old, wiley veteran horse is what Archipenko is. Very tough to beat. One of South Africa's better competitors, IMO.
