i was at the dwight pool that night with my friend when we saw lightning and they closed my ride wasnt supossed be there for a while and luckly i had my phone so my ride came just in time i live out in gardner
First time seeing any of this damage.. Im form streator and couldn't believe some of it. Its all just very hard to take it.. Couldn't imagine a larger one hitting
Just so everyone's clear the same tornado that hit Streator hit Dwight it only moved about a mile south in a 28 miles stretch...I watched the cell the whole way on radar while it was happening...same cell...same hook...same tornado...similar destruction...
Thank you for the video. I've been gone since 1980, but Dwight is my hometown. It seems almost cruel that the day after the tornado the weather was sunny and serene with debris everywhere. Our thoughts are with you Dwight. Our love surrounds you. ~Alison Kirby MD, Walla Walla, WA
GOD BLESS THESE PEOPLE. MY BEST FRIEND OF 20YRS LIVES IN DWIGHT WITH HER TWO BOYS AND THANK GOD THEY WERE NOT HURT OR ANY DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THERE HOME. I WENT TO DWIGHT MYSELF TO HELP AND THIS TOWN IS SO SAD, ESPECIALLY THE TRAILER COURT, THE NEW ADDITION TO THE HIGH SCHOOL AND THE GOLF COURSE. IT JUST BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES. THERE ARE SO MANY HOMES DAMAGED, ROOFS RIPPED OFF AND ETC. THEY NEED ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET, PLEASE ANYONE WITH AUTHORITY WHO CAN HELP OR SEND HELP, PLEASE DO SO.
I live in Dwight. It was a pretty scary night. We were fortunate that it didn't hit our house. We live around the corner of 17 and 47. The tornado missed our house by a half of a mile, maybe closer.
@poisonparadise im so grateful you, jake and the kids all are safe and unharmed. man you jus never know, want to see you guys so much. my prayers go out to all those who lost so much so fast.
Does anyone know if survivors were found on Sunday?? I ask because My friends and I drove down on Sat night, some from as far as St. Charles to bring supplies and help search. Dwight P.D. & Red cross said they needed help but we got to the VFW just in time for FEMA to take control and send everyone home. They pulled out the fire dept and put the police on perimeter security . The search was suspended until 7am for FEMA's search and rescue to get into town. I hope nobody suffered for this.
my aunt and uncle are from Dwight and the trailer park that got destroyed was one that my aunt and uncle lived in about 20 years ago. Not only in Dwight, but my cousin and her 3 year old live in Streator and their house was safe but their yard is a mess.
this is awfull ...when i was very young my school was deroyed with help of all the local loved ones our small ga town pulled though i am praying for the familys that was afected and ones that was lost ...
Yeah other than the trailer park Streator I'd have to say got nailed pretty hard. Of course it has a 3 miles stretch of town to run through and it only had a mile to go through Dwight.

My storm chasing crew almost caught the Caldeonia IL tornado. We missed it by 30 mins.

Amazing video. I grew up in Dwight, but haven't been back in ten years. Very sad, but stick together and Dwight shall overcome.

Good video. Youre right though, doesnt grasp the reality of it all. Its pretty surreal seeing it in person.
