  • I absolutely love this.... and Kenny's introduction.

Both of these men are/were inspired, silly, and hugely talented.

  • Dean Friedman'Wonderful, Kenny Everett,Mad but hilarious....!

  • Saw Dean last night at Farnham.........great night, still a legend!

  • HEY WHAT A GUY IN HIS ZONE 100% RESPECT DEAN

  • Just seen Dean Friedman tonight at Lossiemouth - brought back teenage memories - still a great performer.

  • Dean Friedman great but was Kenny ever funny?

  • You can hear Dean sing this, up-close and personal at his summer 2010 songwriting course with the French House Party in Carcassonne, SW France. Residential four-day holiday - all-inclusive and a private concert thrown in! Begins 30 July. Ring 0044 7900 322791 for details.

  • he reminds me of Donald Sutherland in a funny way.

  • @TheCobraUK O I know what you mean...I agree!

  • Great clip, love the end credits.

  • excellent!

I have this programme on cassette, recorded from TV when this programme first aired in 1979. I've heard this clip so many times over the years, it's great to be able to actually see it again!

  • Great clip! (Dean Friedman also wrote and performed the music for the comedy horror film I Bought A Vampire Motorcycle)

Dean is currently on tour in the UK and Ireland between July and October 2009. Check his deanfriedman website for details!

  • Bring back DEAN......CLASSIC!!

  • He's on tour in the UK right now!

  • Hair not so good, song writing brilliant.

  • It's top C if anyone's wondering. I've just checked on a digital piano...astounding.

  • He reminds me of Weird Al Yankovich.

  • This takes me right back to the 70's when I was a little girl. What a happy sound.....Dean was the essence of the 70's vibe....Fantabulous.

  • thanks for posting - I've never seen this clip before.

It's amazing how many great artists Kenny Everett had on his programme in the 70s/80s

  • Dean has written so many great songs. This track is great.

So under rated its a shame

  • Bloody brilliant,

    thanks for posting,

    YJ

  • he was obv nuts talking rockinng chairs

    miss the guy tho :)

  • Really groovy tune...brings me back to high school.

  • One of the best "Yacht Rock" tunes ever! Brilliant! Make me happy :-)

  • Amazing song. Amazing voice. And one of the most dreadful 70s hair-donts you could possibly imagine.

  • what a under rated guy "well well said the rocking chair" is one of my all time fave albums

  • I love this man! And one of my favorite lines from this song... "It's impossible to ever love somebody in vain"

  • That is a bloody good line. Never caught it before. Thanks!

  • You're so cool Roniliny!

  • best video on youtube!

  • AWSOME!!!!!! PURE GENIUS,,,,,,

  • Brilliant. I've seen Dean live 4 times, last time being yesterday in Liverpool where he did a totally accoustic set. This is a real treat as I've never seen a young Dean performing before.

  • splendid!

I remember watching that show many moons ago.. Interesting to see Cosgrove Hall in the credits - they now do alot of kids animation [they were responsible for the excellent stopframe version of Wind in the Willows + Dangermouse; most recently Fifi and the Flowertots!]

Also [for those with a ear for wider musical extravagances], the bass on Well Well [and on Arial and Woman of Main] was played by Tony Levin who has also played with Peter Gabriel and King Crimson (amongst many others!)

  • Thank you so much for this.

    What a fantastic artist.

  • If anyone is interested, Dean is playing in Wolverhampton on Sunday July 22nd at the Civic Hall Bar.

If you haven't seen him live, it's a real treat!

I last saw him at the Willsden Empire in London about 15 years ago. What a great, absolutely GREAT concert.

    The Major

  • Just back from seeing Dean in Wexford, Ireland. Still brilliant, super nice bloke who played all his old stuff and some new stuff too.

  • And here was me thinking i was the only Dean Friedman fan.

  • Bleeeeedin' 'ell! I've heard it all now! Yeah, Friedman's a true great, isn't he? Right up there with Jimi, Nick Cave, Morrissey and Don Van Vliet!

    Craziest thing I ever heard!

  • Need more Dean Friedman on You Tube.

A great talent that is very rarely seen.

  • Brilliant, a lost treasure. Dean Friedman is Awsome, and such a nice fella

  • This song "Well, Well" Said the Rocking Chair appeared on Dean Friedman's 2nd album of the same name. Dean also wrote and recorded the song McDonald's Girl, which appeared on his 3rd album, Rumbled Romeo. McDonald's Girl was officially banned by the BBC. Besides the Blenders, it was covered by the Barenaked Ladies. To hear Friedman's most excellent ORIGINAL version of McDonald's Girl and to check out his other music, go to the Audio page of deanfriedman dot com

  • TanFastic!!

This is what Youtube needed. Dean Friedman's amazing.

    Thanks for this.
