@masonrox2547 Depends on your personal preference.Spruce gives you a little brighter tone and doesn't get scratched or dented up as easy as a Cedar top.Cedar is a softer wood.Gives a little warmer, deeper tone and is darker in color. My spruce top has darkened quite a bit in the 12 years i've had it.It was really light colored when new.
Nice sounding seagull im a proud owner of a seagull M6 and a Peppino Artist Series Seagull and understand your amazement of such a great price for an above average guitar! Is that "outside" by STAIND your playing?
I am wanting a Seagull and the Spruce top is tempting now I heard you play yours. I have a cedar top Landola with a a narrow neck. I fingerpick without nails so the longer I play the sloppier I get. Have you played your Seagull along side of some other top end spruce top guitars? I would think for the money hold their own against some of the other more expensive guitars. Seagulls are getting more popular and will probably get more expensive like everything else.
Some people like the wider neck.I'm sure you'll get use to it after a while.I guess alot depends on what you are use to.Seagull's are great guitars for the money.I think they make the new entourage with the slimmer neck if you can't get the hang of the wide neck.I lowered the action very low by shaving the saddle and use a lighter gauge of strings [11's] makes it easier to play especially chords. You can also tune it down a step or so to loosen the tension for easier play.Good luck.
yeah thanks for reply. i was thinking the strings i had on it were real thick so getting thiner strings would help.the saddle i would have to get somone who i trust to do that
they actually have the s6 original with slimmer neck. its called seagull slim dreadnought and its a few dollars cheaper but, it has to be special ordered from guitar center or whoever else carry them.
@masonrox2547 def. spuce..especially red spruce, it's like the holy grail of tops! Well...at least I think so!
