  • That chicken is so coool!

  • ADORO A ELTON JOHN!!!... TODO UN GENIO MUSICAL. DIOS LE DE MUCHOS AÑOS MAS DE VIDA...

  • I love Elton John

  • Too bad Elton's not actually playing piano here. For proof, listen to the run the piano does at 1:21, then watch his hands. Sure, he may have recorded the backing track with the band earlier in the day, but he's not playing it live here. Singing live, probably. Playing live, not a chance.

  • @tallsandcastle: its cool that you noticed that and all, but why did you have to ruin it for everyone else??!!

  • @Checorama A lot of people were fooled. Just read through 4 years worth of comments on this video, all praising his performance here. I think one other person mentioned it, but didn't really point it out.

  • @tallsandcastle actually he was playing. The run at 1:21 was from the muppet who was playing the keyboards. Of course Elton would play! He sang and played this song live.

  • aww...they cut out the "vodka and tonic" verse...

    still, solid gold.

  • This is brilliant! We just don't get tv like this anymore... and Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are the coolest band ever, muppets or not! Animal's also relatively tame in this!! <3

  • OK, you all who pushed dislike button, please write "I pushed dislike button" and tell us the reason why.

  • So what if someone gay? there is no reason to call someone a faggot just cua they like guys. Its rude and obnoxious. So to all of you homophobic dicks, I have two words, "fuck you".

How would out feel if people called you a faggot just because you were different than them?

  • 33 people need the earing checked. this is music

  • @theoriginalbadbob they have to watch our hetero shit? Don't be such a fucking redneck cunt

  • The Electric Mayhem Featuring Elton John. ;)

  • I love the way animal moves his head while drumming.

  • and now theyre complaining about bert and ernie being "homosexual"

  • @mikesfreedumlessons Fags want Bert and Ernie to get "married" on the show. The way I see it, people can do anything they want BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. PEOPLE: Get the fuck back into your closets. I don't want to see any of your homo shit, just as I don't want to see anyone's hetero shit, IN PUBLIC. I love Elton John as an entertainer, and have seen him twice in person, including one of the infamous Dodger Stadium concerts, but I don't want to hear about his sex life.

  • @theoriginalbadbob you sound gay.

  • @CognosSquare You ARE gay.

  • @theoriginalbadbob yould want that right? Sorry, fag.

  • @theoriginalbadbob Yeah. People can do anything they want behind closed doors. And I've been talking about it, and talking about it, but no one seems to listen. Something ELSE that I WANT people to do behind closed doors? Use words like "fags."

  • @christianolson I'll have you know that I was called a "faggot" by an asshole in front of a gay bar. He was queer and I'm not. What say you to that? I was driving a cab and was supposed to pick up someone there. I have decided that this so-called gay rights movement is nothing but a bunch of Nazi-esque BS. It's a bunch of cocksuckers (no pun intended) who want to FORCE other people to do something that they don't want to do, i.e. watch the bastards do their homo shit in public.

  • 31 people are dickheads

  • you dont know how much I WANT THAT HAT!!!!! like even a costume one would be fine but I WANT THAT HAT!!!

  • THAT HAT IS SO AWESOME!!! I WANT IT!!!!!! <3

  • @Wilperrri Dr. Teeth's or Elton John's?

  • Where can i get that hat?

  • This is way too short. there should've beev an extended version

  • Statler and Waldorf made 31 accounts to dislike this

  • He's like a male version of Lady Gag. Not because of his voice, but the way he dresses.

  • @bohgirl11 how can he be a male version of that hack when he's being doing this since the before she was born?

  • @bohgirl11 yeh because she copied him.

  • How come the people of the 70s got the best show ever!!!

  • I've had many nightmares as a child involving Dr. Teeth. Still don't trust him to this day. Scares me. Don't like him. And that blue asshole on saxophone doesn't help either...

  • he kinda looks like a muppet :)

  • Elton had some huge fozzie bear eyebrows back in the day huh. Love this song though.

  • 31 people got offended.

  • Ahhhh ahhh ahhh :) i love the verse.

  • Idc if he is homo i love this song.

  • @RJA10001 *thumbs up your comment* I'm on an iPad :(

  • Now, I think of a girl I used to know.

(She was four years older than me)

Anyways, Elton, you are a genius song writer. I see no wrongfulness in your song writing at all.

  • What a classic-3

  • i first watched it in class but now i watch it all the time

  • This song is Amazing!

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHahhahhhhhhhh I LOVE THAT BIT

  • "The greatest artist of all time; Elton John'. I have never heard a sentence as true :)

  • what syle is the keyboard playing?

  • One of these characters is not a muppet. Can you guess which one?

  • youtube.com/watch?v=E5eC6RstHoI

  • after watching this i fell in love with this song muppet show waz my introduction to elton john

  • the piano in this performance for this song is the best of every version that Elton or anyone else perform.....i must learn all the riffs...is there anyone that can help?

  • @johnjohnjman yes.

just listen to it and hit pause afte a phrase, then try to figure out the phrase by ear. do not stop until you have something that resembles what you're hearing (some parts are just inaudible). be patient and do that for the whole song.

i'd do it for you and transcribe it, but that's a lot of work, and you have good enough ears. (otherwise you'd not have noticed how awesome that part is. :)

  • @sonsofdon i'm am doing just that but...u know i'm trying to get an easier way....thanks for the advice and compliment

  • @sonsofdon can u transcribe it if u can. I would really appreciate it

  • youtube.com/watch?v=E5eC6RstHoI

  • he's not actually playing the piano riffs....does this happen normally in his concerts?

  • @johnjohnjman Elton plays the main bits and Dr. Teeth does the riffs.

  • i still want his hat.

  • i want his hat.

  • Why was he declared "Sir" Elton John? Why not Lady Regina? That's what you get under a matriarch...

  • isnt he a homo?

  • @THExPinnacle yes, but what does that have to do with his music and this song?

  • One of my idols singing with a group of idols of mine! Truly heavenly, plaidcarogemm. I agree with you!

  • Amazing :)

  • I 'reccon I could be a Judy....click click them red heals......in Wizard of OZ!!!!!

  • @888ingga: Funnily enough Sir Elton was an Oz fan & Henson himself said that L. Frank Baum was one of inspirations, much like Charles M. Shulz's Peanuts. So naturally, given her roles on You're A Good Man Charlie Brown (Sally) & Wicked (G[a]linda), I wouldn't put it past Kristina Chenoweth to be with the returning Muppets, like Margaret Hamilton--the true original Elphaba, since it is she from the 1939 MGM classic who Maguire was inspired by for Wicked penning in 1995--before her!

  • Eyebrows in 02:07

  • Relíquia!

  • awsome¡¡¡

  • Thank you Sir. Elton John...

  • Elton John is awsome

  • elton john is awsome

  • I paused it at the most weirdest part ever

  • YAY SCOOTER!!

  • muppets r the best thing ever, also elton john, he really knows how to play a piano, so i dont know y some ppl dislike this video. its old but this is gonna be in some ppl hearts includin me, so put nice comments ppl!!!:D

  • how in the hell can anyone dislike this????

  • @unclep1971 probably homophobic people

  • @unclep1971 well its clear. 29 people like twilight.

  • @unclep1971 31 people are homophobic.

  • Sir Elton John, WOW, I love The Muppet Show.

  • back when Elton had his real hair

  • @beeteep60 that is a wig in his hat.

  • @MedievalMind

no thats his hair this was filmed in the 70's

  • non si capisce bene chi è più vestito da pupazzo ma comunque meraviglioso

  • fuck you elton john

  • @15speeda No Fuck you hater. Elton is awesome. Now go back to your home in the portapotty you basement hoarding mother fuckin trolling bitch! Thanks.

  • @MarkusmooStudios

no, fuck you, my cum guzzling ass molester, because elton john is an asshole who writes the same song 50 fucking times, and calls them different. the only reason elton john is living, is because he had people like bob dylan and john lennon to suck creativness from. and if i live in a portapotty, then how the hell do i have a basement?

  • @15speeda Excuse me, but why are you being so incredibly rude and if you hate Elton John so much (Godde only knows why.) then why are you watching his vids? I generally void vids I don't care for. Have you nothing better to do?

  • @auntbecky

congratulations, you've figured it out, most of it. i also avoid videos i hate, i just do this to practice for my debate team, and i already told why i hate elton john. as far as this video in particular, i just chose it after watching some random videos

  • @auntbecky cuz thats what trolls do....

  • @MarkusmooStudios Oh and what I said to speeda goes for you too. That is no way to pay tribute to Sir Elton.

  • @15speeda You dreaming about it...

  • Love the way Dr. Teeth turns around at 2:00 to make some adjustment to his synthetizer. This show was great, full of small details that were wonderful to watch...when you were able to see them...

  • Elton John felt like home here...his costume was maybe the least outlandish in this crazy land of muppets, LOL. What a great show.

  • adorei! elton john maravilhoso...como sempre!

  • Elton John + Muppets = Wonderful

  • gay or not good artist

  • Swedish Chef <3

  • Elton....Thanks

  • Still a little bit understated, but he sums up the man...

  • my faverite elton song of all time and i own every one of them

  • @tmtmoormr Go find the Elderberry Wine video, I have arranged to go back, you are invited. I am planning the trip, it is all just a bit of fun for Elton's fans. It is a busload for sure.

  • Damn. Classic Elton John songs AND Muppet comedy in one show?!? I want to time travel back to the 70's!

  • dsl on the fritz and I have to find this. Anyway... don't need to hear all of it to remember how it is and goes. I know much is owed to Mr. Taupin here, but the music itself is quite perfect. If Elton John had written nothing else, his name might yet live on in the annals of great songwriters of the 20th century.

  • Anyone notice anything about Animal & Dr. Teeth?

  • I know many drummers that look like that one!

    Just kidding.

ANyway,I love this song and thanks for the video

  • Ohh Randomstriketroll23 I see this would be your 'style' ahhh 4 cute

  • with Donna Pinciotti on bass......

  • oh my i seen this live on tv that is. some days gone by i think back . i had my red baron hot wheel and the giant old gi joe .

  • The song was written by Bernie Taupin, music composed by Elton John. You might rephrase the comment to read "Bernie is such a poet, and Elton is a genius at the pinao". Just a suggestion.

  • @zoso7979 Agree

  • @zoso7979 Bernie is a poet, no doubt, but this is really about Elton John, just as much as the credit for finest movies go to the director or actors when it's the writer who created the story.

    It's really all a collaboration.

  • I love this song because It has a great memories with me :)

  • He is amazing... kermit

  • I want that hat.

  • At first I was like "Hey he missed a verse!" Then I remembered the verse contained the line "It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics to get you on your feet again" and I was like "Oh, right. 70's TV, family show, gotcha."

  • This is so cool. The world will never see a fun show like this again. Hilarious, trippy, out there puppet characters & great entertainers like Elton coming on, really getting into the spirit of it all, exposing the world to great music. This show was & always will be very special.

  • Elton didn't write the lyrics.. Bernie Taupin did.

  • What year was this?

  • @AandIShow read the descrip 77/78 season

  • All the coolest celebs have appeared with The Muppets.

  • the muppets had some great guests! so did carol burnett, we need something likem again!

  • Grande Elton John, saudades....

  • I WANT HIS HAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • WTF kind of farm would Elton John be from?

  • @TrishaDishaWarEagle People from all over of many differences can. Maybe he lived on a farm as a kid...

But just cuz he is a celeb doesn't mean he is special like that. just sayin :D

  • @Pubble123

..yeah..I think he just liked the horny back toads..

I still like the song, and I actually like my gays flaming..I just can;t picture him milking a cow..a bull?.. maybe

  • yeah i get it its Elton and the Muppets sure... but really if you look at it it's Elton John and the Electric Mayhem

  • Ah...back when Elton wore the outrageous costumes and had the high voice. Not like the Elton of today... sigh :-/

  • The puppeteers have small monitors on which they can see the muppet they're operating from the camera's POV to make sure they're performing correctly.

  • Bernie Taupin is who wrote the lyrics.

  • Oh those muppets with their goofy hats!

  • Elton John, Lady Gaga of the 70s and 80s

  • @core1985 The only difference is that Elton John has talent.

  • @core1985 You got it backwards! Elton is the original.

  • @LeconsdAnalyse Yeah, you're right! I've always meant so :D

  • good times, I remember that.In brasil was 35 years ,but the time pass ,but, remember , oh is so good !obrigado por postarem ,recordei meus tempos de garoto.

  • Check out the great new page - Muppet Friday - on Facebook!! Much recommended!!

  • this song is deffinately the cutest song ever!

  • i love his hat :)

  • This is a great song and a great performance. Probably my favorite Elton John song of all time. I noticed that the comment in this comments section that received the most thumbs up stated that "Elton John is such a poet...", but it should be noted that Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics to this song and many of Elton John's other songs during this time period in Elton's career. Elton John and Bernie Taupin were viewed as a sort of a songwriting team and they sure made for a great songwriting team.

  • Why was the Swedish Chef chasing that chicken with a knife?

  • One of the reasons I love this song is because I first saw it performed on this show.

  • good yellow brick road lol so saddddddd bye yellow brick yellow road

  • Genius. Deeper than any ocean.

  • Even with the comical Muppets it doesn't take away from the emotion of this song which is amazing

  • i'm going though a really shit time at the moment with no work or money but hell, watching this has made me so happy even if its just for a moment, big cheers...

  • He is a poet, he is the musician....he has a writer he has been working with for years, you can look it up....he doesn't write any lyrics, he writes the notes, and is the face...his partner has been working with him since the beginning....music and lyrics :)

  • If I didn't watch the Muppets as a kid, I wouldn't know any of Elton Johns songs. He's amazing live xD

  • Muppets and Elton John. Doesn't it seem like it was paired by heaven? :)

  • @plaidcarogemm This reminds me of the Christmas album they did. I used to call it "John Denver and the Other Muppets". Some singers just fit right in. Young Elton was one, also.

  • @cards0486 cool :)

  • elton is a genius on the piano, but sucks on the organ!!

  • wow, when i clicked this video, i thought that i would be hearing bennie. it feels kinda weird hearing this on the muppets. ive gone thought alot and this song always seem to help me make it though. i guess its good to know that kids can relate to a song that helps you to make it through. UP THE IRONS FROM LOUISIANA

  • he's just hating because he isn't famous like him.

  • I dont care if hes gay, hes still a good musician. Hes been through so many tough times, give this guy credit he escaped death 2 times from drugs and deppression.

  • @sabinsw Nah, death to America.

  • @Flowerblood Shut the hell up dude. It's not fair to wish death on anyone or anything.

  • @Flowerblood And America says death to you

  • Everybody talks about Elton and forgets that the Muppets did a bang-up job backing him up on this one. Come on, man. Give credit where credit is due. Just kidding!!! Elton rocks!!!

  • @mrclassickids well, that's a little debatable. He did write the music, in collaboration with Tim Rice, but he isn't actually in the movie itself. I don't think he even performed any of the songs, though of course he did perform in promotional videos

  • I hate to break the news to you. But Elton wrote the music, sang & played the song. That's 3 to Bernies 1. Your acting like he's nothing & didn't contribute. I certainly don't want to diminish Bernie & turn this in to a contest. Their a team & equally important. Don't diminish Elton's role in this, ever. He is THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!

  • When TV was awsome.

  • He's performing his best song here.

  • a, i jeszce jedno

    MegaOffender

"po prostu" to po angielsku "simply"

    (-:

  • 1:38 ok!

    I start to sing!

    beyond the yellow brick

    ROOoooooooOOOOOAAAaaaaaaaAAAADDDD oooooooooooo!!!

    nice

  • But it's a live or not? Seems to be playback but registered for this occasion

  • We just saw him live in Saskatoon!

  • My hero...

  • Boombambabyshaa how can you like a lot of the music now without liking older music, most new stuff is so fake nowadays ad is copied from the classics

  • Weird since I like alot of the music now-a-days &really hate older music.... but I really love this song. His voice is perfect.
