This is a brilliant song and is one of the greatest tracks in The Church's catalogue of hits, up there with favourites like 'Unguarded Moment' and 'Under The Milky Way'.
A lot of The Church's songs seem quite beautifully sad, and I can't help but shed a tear to songs like this, and 'Monday Morning' especially. A truly great band indeed.
wow, this song brings back soooo many memories and the guitar with that chilling but beautiful sound, where has the music gone today??? i know that people are dissing Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga, but this is music!!!!

This was a great band to see in concert. I had the pleasure of seeing them just as "Starfish" was catching on, at George Mason University; in the Ratskeller, no less! Got to see them awhile later at Lisner Auditorium in D.C., and met the guys after the concert. Steve may still remember me asking why they didn't play "Disenchanted"; then again, that was many years ago.

Saw the church in venues in sydney's western suburbs a few times in the early 80s. I loved their sound. First album, Of Skins and Heart, is also a gem.
This Album is great all the way through. Never a bad vocal melody or lyric. Great guitar riffs and Jangly chord play. Interesting atonal mood stuff going on in the background like a david lynch film sometimes. A more organic/ acoustic sounding recording than their 80's stuff (except Starfish). I heard they themselves didn't really like this album too much, but it's always been one of their masterpieces to me. Whoah! I just realized I am a nerdy super fan of this band.

hi, i recently listened to the "best of" the church (1999 compilation) and i really really liked every song included. So i would like to get a few albums to listen more from this great band. Which ones do you suggest??
My friend turned me onto The Church around 1993.With the classic album,"The blurred Crusade".I have all their albums now,but I never understood why they didn't get far more popular.1985 's sublime "Heyday" CD makes a mockery of most bands.
This is absolutely one of my favorite Church songs. It seems mainstream radio really only played Under The Milky Way, but this should have had more recognition. It is truly a hidden treasure. Maybe that's why it keeps its appeal.
They were considered "alternative" I guess the mainstream didn't know where to place them. Truly great band. I left to 40 stuff behind in my teens - not saying there isn't the occasional gem but mostly, well...
Yet in the USA (in my opinion) this was seemingly the last we would hear out of great groups like The Church after that bullsh*t called Nirvana and grunge music fell into the scene and eclipsed great talented songwriters/musicians such as Steve Kilbey!
Grunge f*cking sucks...I will go to my grave forever saying that!
Judging by the ignorant way you write and spell, that's about the kind of reply I'd expect from someone who "luvs" Nirvana, you societal derelict!! Yet I doubt you're even smart enough to know what that means!? Google it and find out!
By the way...doesn't the word "luv" come from a brand of baby diapers? Did you get that name from the diaper you are wearing?
Very kind of you, ian. I saw "The Mirrh" live, maybe 20 years ago (the band played in very confused way). I will try to search for the recorded version. Bye
I don't think 'Myrrh' was released as a single so a video probably doesn't exist. Someone might have footage of a live performance, they are still around but I think until recently, they have tended to play their new stuff.
I used to listen the this and Milkey way, and Reptile... i miss this stuff and bands like World Party. And you guys know if Big D likes it, it has to be pretty much awesome. Carry on with your normal duties.
That's awesome! But what really would BigD do? I would want someone to go back in time with me to see The Church in concert. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before.
I would definately go back in time for that. I don't want or need a guarantee for safety, takes the fun right out of it. Weapons? I'm all over it. Payment? Damn straight. Any questions?
such an under-rated band, they outclass most of crap bands around these days.. and the guitar interplay at the end is amazing.. love that rickenbacker sounds..

A cold, rainy fall day and we're sitting around enjoying this song and thinking of how very pretty life can be with the right music.

Great song what an awesome guitar riff, not many more memorable out there.
So many great songs The Church have, shame they never got the recognition they deserved.
Under Milky Way ones get ruined by WMG, dunno whats up with that, people discover songs on here and buy.
Steve Kilbey, Craig Bloxom etc some great aussie musicians, posting up great aussie music for all.
Thanks for posting them up.

Get their last one Untitled 23.
After Everything is really special but not so rocky.
Uninvited Like the Clouds, Forget Yourself.
None will dissapoint. Unlike many bands whose best are debut then go downhill.

This is 1990.

Maybe that's why it keeps its appeal.

damn that singer is cute. but this was what? 1988?
goofygoat2009 2 years ago 3
They were considered "alternative" I guess the mainstream didn't know where to place them. Truly great band. I left to 40 stuff behind in my teens - not saying there isn't the occasional gem but mostly, well...

Great song from a great band!
Yet in the USA (in my opinion) this was seemingly the last we would hear out of great groups like The Church after that bullsh*t called Nirvana and grunge music fell into the scene and eclipsed great talented songwriters/musicians such as Steve Kilbey!
Grunge f*cking sucks...I will go to my grave forever saying that!
ryanspeed 2 years ago 5
hey i luv the church and nirvana but if that's what u think then fuk you the grave cant cum quick enuf for u
sturtkutch 2 years ago
Ha ha! You prove my point!

Bye
STEVERED23 3 years ago
How can i find "The Mirrh", first song in the LP
"HeyDay"? This song is probably the best by "The Church" I've listened to (excuse my bad english) Kisses to eeveryone
STEVERED23 3 years ago
I don't think 'Myrrh' was released as a single so a video probably doesn't exist. Someone might have footage of a live performance, they are still around but I think until recently, they have tended to play their new stuff.

I used to listen the this and Milkey way, and Reptile... i miss this stuff and bands like World Party. And you guys know if Big D likes it, it has to be pretty much awesome. Carry on with your normal duties.
bigdsears 3 years ago 2
I've got a bumper sticker that reads :"What Would Big D Do?"
xplund 3 years ago
That's awesome! But what really would BigD do? I would want someone to go back in time with me to see The Church in concert. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before.
bigdsears 3 years ago
I would definately go back in time for that. I don't want or need a guarantee for safety, takes the fun right out of it. Weapons? I'm all over it. Payment? Damn straight. Any questions?
xplund 3 years ago
I really dig this tune! One of the most beautifully, mournful, guitar riffs I ever heard.

such an under-rated band, they outclass most of crap bands around these days.. and the guitar interplay at the end is amazing.. love that rickenbacker sounds..
