I usually have a pretty strict policy of not buying parts over the internet as in the past they have shown themselves to be of poorer quality. However, because i've used these videos that you make so much I think I will give 1a-auto a try. Keep it up.
@iamchevyman5 Thank you for visiting our channel. If you ever have an issue with a part you have bought from us, we're here to help you out. Have a great day.
Thanks for the video. Only problem I ran into was the springs. Did you end up making another video in regards to putting the springs back in? I tried many different tools (pliers, vice grips, etc.) but to no avail. Thanks again.
Great video, is there any way you can do the door pins and bushings for a 2003 gmc sierra with newer body style? The hinges have 2 pins and bushings per hinge.
@OTRdriver379 HI thank you for viewing our GMC door hings pin repair video. If we happen to do this repair in the future, we'll keep this request in mind.
Great Video!! I did this job this afternoon in about an hour by myself. I just used a large air car lift jack that has two pedestals rather than one, and I duct taped a soccer ball to the jack to fill the gap between it and the door, and then cargo strapped the jack to the door... the only problem I had was that dang spring!... after the 6th attempt of the evening... I decided to tackle it tomorrow morning when I'm fresh. Even as an experienced mechanic, I would have not done this without this.
Great how to video. I was able to replace the drivers side pins and bushings on my sons s10. Even though the s10 set up is slightly different, it still only took about 15 minutes to complete the job. Thank you for sharing!!
I know absolutely nothing about cars, and your video helped me change out my pins and bushings without many problems. Apparently the right tools help, which I don't have, but it all worked out in the end. Thanks for the great Vid.
Hi, great video we are about to install new hinge pins to our 1996 jeep and this has really helped us understand what we need to do and what to look out for when removing the old ones so we get it right. So Thanks!
Great video. I did this to my 2000 chevy S10. The spring is the hardest thing of all. I had to use some SUPER ZIP TIES (2) to get it back in. Also I hung my door from inside my garage roof just in case.
Great video! Only suggestion I have would be to be more clear in specifying the bottom hinge bushings are on the door side of the hinge (not the frame side like the upper hinge).
I spent 10 min trying to see the "worn out" bushings and remove them before I realized they were on the door side. I honestly thought they were so worn out, it was hard to see the remnants of them. Silly me, never did this job before.
Otherwise, excellent video! Thanks for doing it!!!
I just wanted to take a few minutes and say Thank You and a job well done!!! We watched this video and then replaced the hinge pins in less than 30 minutes!! This video was awesome, Thank You!!
I followed this procedure step-by-step on my 1994 Chevy Silverado-style Suburban. It worked PERFECTLY! I really appreciated the zip-tie spring compressing trick. My formerly badly sagging drivers side door now closes and latches like a dream. Fantastic. THANK YOU!!!
@1aauto yup, I found it right after I posted this comment. I almost did this very same trick with some wire but couldn't get it tight enough, the zip ties looks much better. Thanks for the awesome vids.
Hello everyone. any advice on what to do if the holes that the bushings are supposed to go into are egged or worn out. when I try to put the bushings in, it forces the bushing towards the oval side and cracks bushing. Hinges are welded in....no bolts... cut and replace???? or is there any other soloution? thanks
the dealer sold me the pins and bushings but the bushing seems too big to fit in the hole. i hit them pretty hard and only ruined the bushings. is that common.
Thank You so much for this video!!!! My exboyfriend replaced my door pin on my truck 5 times and it still would not work right. From watching your video, he put the bushings in the wrong way and the top bushig kept falling down, so my door would not shut. Now I watched your video and feel comfident that I put the door pin in the right way and not have anymore problems with my door. Thank you for putting information out here on the web so people can do things for theirselves if they want to.
Any advice on my door hinge pins being seized in there? Or are they not coming out because I'm not relieving the pressure on the door by jacking it up?
@SRHDave13 If the pins are worn bad enough the could have a shoulder on them thta is holding them. Either use the jack to support the door in different positions or have someone work the door up and down while you are pushing them out. My best suggestion.
thank you times a billion! i was about to pay a dealership outrageous parts and labor fees.. now i'm gonna ebay the parts and do it for like 30 bucks!
@omgwtfbbqgtfo The guy who made this video sells the parts very reasonably. Just saying it would be a good way to show your appreciation by doing business with him. A more timely response on my part might have helped too. lol

Good trick when doing this is to roll the window down. Not only will you not hit it with anything but you have more options to hold or grab from.

would you be able to make a video like this but for a sunfire or is it the same thing

@i13w13d The general idea is the same but there may be some differences. I have added a sunfire/cavalier to the request list.

if you dont have a helper would it be better to just take the door off?
bluetickrunner 1 year ago
@bluetickrunner You can do that but you need to disconnect the harnesses.

Is it possible to remove and replace the bottom pin and bushings ONLY without removing the top pin and bushings and the spring? Thanks!
doulos4JC 1 year ago
@doulos4JC Yes I believe you can do just one at a time, but usually if one is worn they both are.
