@ravenchanel9 This is a remake (One Way did it first). Jesse did the song justice. Believe me when I say that there is nobody that has a voice like Jesse Powell------that's as strong and with range. Look up a group called Enchantment from back in the day. The lead singer from that group & Jesse Powell have the same voice and range. I think Jesse would sound good doing a remake of Cameo's "Why Have I Lost You"....

I believe Jessie stayed within the basic framework of the song out of respect. You have to realize that Jessie is a fan of the classics. Him singing and updating this song probably reintroduced this song to a whole new generation of music listeners, and he didn't remake it into something else he kept it clean and not horrible

@dedrawilliams There is no lady singer doing lead vocals in this song. The lady in the airport is lip synching to Jesse's vocals. The director had her do this to remind him that the past is still creeping up on him right as he walks by her. The leads are all Jess and the females only do the background vocals for the chorus.

I know because I have the CD and if you were to read who sings the background vocals, you'll see that his two sisters, brother and mother sing back-up on this song. And that IS his mother in the video also. I know because I remember she sang background when he performed "If I" on Soul Train years ago. It's is the same woman. I hope this helps.
