i think sum of us r still livin in da old days, da days of da close society. dis modern days of raisin kids (im not an xpert) has 2 do wit givin ur kids personal responsibility @ a certain age n dose girls look old enough 2 understan rite n rong. in dis age no matter wat u do ur kids r xpose 2 immorality n if u dont xplain 2 dem da difference 2 enable dem make gud choices ur headin 4 trouble as a parent. notin rong wit dese kids dancin we hav 2 face 8 tings have changed.
Let me clarify. There are two reasons why this video is sad. This is not so much about being tradtional or nontraditional as it is about being age appropriate. These girls are too young to be dancing so suggestively. Secondly, some Liberians would rather just cheer their children on to just shake their rumps instead of taking the time to teach their children the true beauty and technique of our ORIGINAL traditional Liberian dances. We need to preserve and respect our Liberian culture.
@teah82 I agree. it makes sense that they want the kids to dance but come on. That is not appropriate dancing for little girls who look no older than 12 shaking their butts for an almost entirely adult (female and MALE) crowd. Not criticizing how they raise their kids but,,, well think about it
its unfair for u to criticize their parenting skills. Im Liberian and im a part of the University of Maryland DANCEHALL team... Just because I dance like dat does not mean my parents didnt raise me right. Obviously they did cuz im 22, no kids, and on my way to graduating. All im saying is just enjoy the show..if you've been to most lib parties, the children dance like dis and everyone around them claps and cheers them on..dis is TRADITIONAL in my fam and many other lib fam i know.
Yes, I do listen to and still dance to the music that my parents like because they taught me to appreciate that era of music. I love the greats like SE Rogie, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Osadebe, Prince Nico Mbarga, Miatta Fahnbulleh, and the list goes on. You should try them sometime, you might just like it.
This is sad. What are these little girls doing? The worst part is that the supposed adults are cheering them on. Their parents should teach them TRADITIONAL Liberian dance. That would be much better.
There's nothing wrong with children putting and enjoying themselves. Yes "traditional" maybe better to some, but remember each generation is different. I'm sure you don't listen to or dance to all the music ur parents like.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!that's my uncle in the yellow shirt, and my sister the girl that was dancing in the white pants. and the little girl passing is my niece.
