  • Simon Oakland, who played the enterprising crook, went on to play Carl Kolchak's boss in "The Night Stalker".

  • .....What MORON figured out how to manufacture GOLD, and TOLD everyone?! XD

  • I saw "Forbidden Planet" long before I saw this episode, 'MR', and recognized the vehicle right away. You don't need wikipedia if you already know what you've seen before....

  • This episode was aired back in the early 60's and I don't think very many people, if any at all have even heard of the CPR techniche yet!

  • "Must've been off his rocker."

I'm surprised that expression survived 100 years. :-)

  • @dry5555 haha, my thoughts exacly.

  • this one wasnt his best ,,the guy should have kept the car and drum of water,,..

  • George's "futuristic car" was actually recycled from MGM's "Forbidden Planet".

  • @fromthesidelines Wikipedia sure is useful.

  • ....... these bloke can freeze them selves for 100 years, yet they didn't think of a get away plan? twilight zones are like fables.ive only just began to watch ep s of this brilliant show and understand why it is so beloved in the world. thanks for sharing this .

  • It's aluminum, it's real aluminum foil, I'll give it to you......real aluminum foil.....

Just to put it in perspective.

  • @Jemmer1000 very well said..

  • @smagmatits Thanks, I believe it was Napoleon who had a set of dinner plates made of pure aluminum, as it was then a very precious metal. Until they figured out a way to extract it simply, from very common ores.

  • @Jemmer1000 A good example indeed!

  • Doesn' t even attempt CPR after the guy passes out. just says "he's dead".

  • This show was so brilliant.

  • This TZ episode is all over the place. Too many elements to justify a pretty weak "twist" ending.

  • That's the same car from The movie "The Forbbidden Planet"

  • Thanks Jane - it's the only episode of The Twilight Zone that I remember - and it was pretty much how I remembered it. Funny how the crooks look more normal in their '61 outfits than that 2061 motorist. Mind you his car would make a good golf cart - probably WAS a golf cart. Anywayat show and thanks again. Keith, Australia

  • can anyone say BRILLIANT !?

  • THIS IS MAGNIFICENT MATERIAL FOR THE MONEY HUNGRY MONSTER MASSES....GOLD IS NOTHING WHEN YOU NEED WATER IN A HOT DESERT

  • It's been years since I'd seen this episode. Thanks for posting it.

  • Good episode. Love the 1960's future car, I look forward to driving that in 50 years, haha. Can't imagine gold ever becoming worthless though

  • Wait... Did anything between this part and the second part get skipped?

  • This makes no sense. The professor is trading bricks of gold for water. Gold is very heavy. So the more he trades, the lighter his load and the heavier the other guys'. Given that they're drinking the same amount of water, shouldn't the greedy guy be the one collapsing from the heat?

  • @GalaxyPedlar

    my thoughts exactly...

but every episode they put common sense aside, in favor of a twilight zone lesson.

  • @GalaxyPedlar the professor is in much worst physical shape.its interesting to note that dispite the heat they dont even bother taking their shirts of.

  • @GalaxyPedlar lol true that...does seem silly :P

  • @GalaxyPedlar Thats the professors plan buddy. As soon as the other guy gets way more tired due to losing water and carrying more gold, the professor can just take the gold from him because he will have more energy due to holding less gold.

  • @GalaxyPedlar

i believe its his greed and youth that allows him to endure

  • @GalaxyPedlar Farwell is much older

  • @GalaxyPedlar But one's a elderly nerd and the other's a career criminal in his prime. Different physical aptitude.

  • fuck gold...its oil now, ask BP they will tell you

  • this episode makes no sense. why did they decide to go into the tubes and wait to wake up? Why?

  • @TheSteveStunner because they had stolen all that gold ! They wanted to go into the future in hopes that enough time would pass so thier crime would be forgotten.

  • @JaYnEsAyZ ....and also because the value of the gold they have would be much higher too.

  • @TheSteveStunner mainly because the mastermind told them that the gold would grow 100 times in value after all that time

  • @TheSteveStunner

    Good day

The glass coffins are like Cryogenic...they are in suspended in lifespan to wait for all the Policemen & Detectives to grow old/die, so nobody alive when they awake knows their identities & arrest them for the robbery.

Ingenious idea, but the moral of the story is as old as this story!

Crime does not pay...it ripped THEM off

  • I remember this episode very well. I loved watching all the old horror series, Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Night Gallery, Outer Limits etc etc. You have quite a collection of clips. I'm drooling right now. Ha ha!!

When I have some time on my hands, I'd like to go thru what you have on here. Bless you for posting them Jayne!

  • @DelisaProductions thanks lisa!!! <3

  • @JaYnEsAyZ Yeah, it's pretty cool that you are sharing these. I was just talking about this episode in my economics class. Gold ain't worth nothin' when you're "bleach dry" as Mr. Serling says, lol.

  • HEYAS!!!

  • @imdakingofny hi luv :) thnx for watching !

  • JaYnEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
