Damn. It saw the book in our local supermarket with the cover "Men Who Hate Women" in Dutch and thought it was a cheap ripoff or something since I had never seen it under anything else in English than "Girl with the dragon tattoo"..The more you know.

I read the book and watched the Swedish movie and afterwards must admit that watching movies based on a read book is still not a good idea. However that one was interesting but...actors didn't reflect the characters from the story. Mikael was disgusting and Lisbeth...simply boring...

After seeing The girl with the dragon tattoo I got curious and managed to find

"Men who hate women" with some proper subtitles. Without revealing to much information I have to say the Swedish version was more graphic and less predictable, hence better in every aspect but one...

Rooney Mara beat Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander, other then that the girl with the dragon tattoo is inferior to it's predecessor in every way.

I watched both - the swedish and the american version and i mut say:

Both are good, no movie is better than the other. The americans took more from the book, but the swedish actors acted better.

However I meant rebellious in the fact that she doesn't deal with things in what most societies would call a socially acceptable way to deal with things, which is get the police etc. She does things for herself. I love this movie and I couldn't agree more with the wrongly translated title but it's obviously that it's just shallow and less controversial marketing.

I think 'the girl with the dragon tattoo' is a stupid title. It suggests the book is focussed on Lisbeth, which it isn't. Not the first one. She is a main character, but the main story is about Mikael trying to solve the mystery about the vanished girl. Just a misleading title.

I haven't seen it yet (and will not) but please someone tell me why Lisbeth Salander is in the movie the main character and not Mikael Blomqvist? Lisbeth is the main character in the second and third movie but in the first one it's a complete different story and Mikael Blomqvist is asked to do some research. I don't understand it. In my opinion, the Swedish version is way better than the American version.

Bra film, enda bedre bøker. Helt fantastisk bra historie og siden jeg er norsk så kunne jeg også lese den på svensk så slapp jeg vente på oversettelser. Rapace gjør kjempejobb, men er litt enig i at hun ser litt for bra ut. Salander er jo en fantastisk bra karakter. Nykvist er også bra - som alltid.
