  • USS KITTY HAWK 1981-1983 AIR WING 15 VF-51

I AM PROUD TO SAY I HAD THE PRIVLAGE TO GO TO SEA ON HER.

  • Oh you were a guest, lucky you... but the people in charge were YES-MEN who were only for looking for early promotions, hence, why they came to this sorry ass ship.

  • Out of ALL the carriers I've been on, Kitty Hawk had the best FANTAIL. It wrapped around the aft of the ship.

  • Yeah the officers and pilots had it good i was in vfa 195 2002 through 2004 on the kitty hawk but its all good i always thought they would be you Know studly guys after the movie topgun but thats not the case there they kind of average, dorky, assholes but i guess your like that when your an avaitor but i had fun doing my time and serving my country

  • 1 granit AShM and this majestic ship of yours career is over.

  • the missile would have to get past fighters, Aegis cruisers, aegis destroyers, & seawiz & seasparrow point defenses to get to the carrier. oh & by the way that's if a Los Angeles or Seawolf sub hasn't already sunk the Granit's launch platform. it's called layered defenses, it works.

  • those subs and cruisers will go down first.

  • That's much easier to say then to do. 1st you would have to find the sub. American subs are very quiet. Russian sonar isn't very sensitive. to get cruisers, you have to again get past fighters, & Missiles. you would have to be very lucky to get past the super hornets, let alone the Standard missiles, you'd be lucky if you got close enough to be engaged by point defenses. oh, and by the way, Arleigh Burke aegis destroyers are stealthy, you can't hit what you can't see.

  • youre full of blah blah. so easy to say huh?

  • yeah! it is easy to say. the U.S. military has shown that their training & equipment is superior to Russians. it has been proven in battle. also you underestimate the size & damage control ablity of Aircraft carriers. these ships are compartmented and armored. 1 missile could not sink them, unless is was a nuke. but with several squadrons of strike aircraft, A airborne early warning Hawkeye, and a battle group. your cruiser would be getting blasted by Harpoon missiles.

  • blah blah blah blah blah blah...........

so you think a direct hit from a granit or klub to a carrier? even a yakhont or moskit with a tactical nuke can destroy a CBVG.

BTW where would that battle? a battle btwn russians and americans? or just russian hardware used by inferior armies?

  • My nephew just did his time on that ship.

  • I see in the video that a few pilots were unable to land the planes successfully and had to try again.

  • I served on CV63 USS Shitty Kitty for WESPAC cruise in 1977-78. Was an AE5 Flightline troubleshooter in VA-192 Golden Dragons on A7E,s. Sure sucked at the time but wouldn't change the experience for anything. Still get goosebumps every time I see a carrier Cat shot. Can still smell the turnin-and-burnin JP5. Still wear my flight deck jersey sometimes. Carriers and carrier dudes ROCK, especially Airwing personell..don't miss the green balogna or bug juice tho...

  • Oh, they dont fly off becuase my dad did this. There is a catapult thing that launches the planesand catches them to stop momentum.

  • My dad served on that ship. Michael Coffman he was enlsted its weird becuase you all talk about it like itsa Tourist attraction but to me its a family symbol.

  • well, when you were a guest they sure did make it out to be cool but they sure did keep you away from the negative parts of this ship, I totally understand people do it for their country I was one of those people just the public relation representatives sure do know how to create a nice picture for the clueless landlubbers

  • I really hate this ship but remember most of the OFFICERS who came up top to film these videos from forward lookout who aimlessly had nothing to do so they would film with their digital video cameras while I stood there in the rain hating life

  • That is not true. They all work hard and long hours.

  • I was a guest whwn I shot this not an officer.

  • @checknforu1 KItty from 06-08

Yeah, we all know of the 'non-skid dildo' that we got on that ship.

    Remember the XO?

    Mast for haircuts.

  • The XO was an idiot along with the Command Master Chief.

  • Do the pilots get some sort of whiplash when the plane stops suddenly?

  • V-2 Division. Catapults and Arresting Gear!! Aviation Boatswainsmates. Baddest bunch on the boat. 67-68 cruise. Tonkin Bay Yaht Club. To all my fellow green shirts...God bless. Neil Logan... I'm still lookin' for ya cowboy!

  • I thought they used chains to held them down.

  • hahaha i ran the show in this boat babe!!!!!!!!!

  • How do you secure the plaines to the ship? I know you cant just simply put on the brakes and hope for the best lol

  • Spankykit, you cant hold the planes down that good coz if something happens and the planes need to be in the air, it would take to long to undo chains. The planes are worth millions and if the ship went down america would suffer badly

  • What's up MMFM E.Izzarnold 135 degree chambers.

  • I served 74 to 78 in ship's company as a radarman, great to see these vids, brings back so many days of work as a lookout on the 07 deck.

  • I was onboard during that time, it didn't seem like the waters were nearly as rough this time compared to some days on '06 summer cruise...

  • I served on her from 98-02, prob knew people onboard during the filming. Somtimes I think of her as an evil bitch, and somtimes I miss her lol!

  • brings back memories... I served on her from 74-78...

  • wow 5 tries at a landing. is that normal?

  • It was a rough day but no aircradft needed more than three attempts. Each of the landings shown on the video is a different aircraft, there were about 16-20 in the air during the excercise.

  • Kinda rough weather there. When the ship is pitching up and down do they time a cat launch so that the plane passes over the bow just as the bow reaches the top of its pitch-up? Or does it matter?

  • I don't think it matters on launch but it does give the pilots a bit a stress on landing.
