No fire?? What are you, on crack? You get up onstage at 74 and play a song you wrote that helped lay a foundation for a whole genre of music -- until then, The Killer's gonna kick your ass every day and night of the week...
I know that everybody will thumb me down but i say he's not good now. He was the greatest but now he's too old. I miss the fire from the performance. It can be clearly seen that he's here just to perform and go home
@csabaimate considering all the shit he did when he was younger from probably a wide variety of drugs and alcohol while still performing songs night after night, year after year, decade after decade, at 74 yrs old, hes lucky to still play the keys as well as he did back in those days, do you expect him to be as energetic and burning the piano? come on lets be realistic. its hard to be a starter of a genre and live till your his age, ask elvis.
I watched a video of him performing in the 50s when he was young, and the 70s when he was middle age. when I watched this, the look in his eyes when he played...I felt like saying "AWWWWWWW :(". he looks so...sad almost. then he kicked the stool and I said "HELL YES! THE KILLER LIVES ON!!!!!!"
You know he hurt his right hand when he first started playing the piano and had it bandaged up one night while playing in a nightclub and thus his BASS-POUNDING SOUND was born. Its cool because more than 50 years later you can still hear that old familiar sound that the Great JERRY LEE LEWIS has!!!!
What I see is a very old man, who once were the greatest boogiewoogie pianoplayer in the world, but who now is so old that it (of course) is very difficult for him to do it, in the flamboyant way he did when he was young.
No, the reason people comes to his concerts nowadays is not because Jerry Lee Lewis still is that "Killer" he once were. But to pay tribute and show (well deserved) respect to a living Legend!!
buddy, compared to the shadows little richard and chuck berry are today (one can't sing anymore the other can't even play his own riffs) he IS the Killer!!!
I didn't see anybody else performing solo...with no backing band. At 74 years old, only Jerry Lee Lewis has the balls to do it at Madison Square Garden and bring the crowd to it's feet! CHEERS! LONG LIVE THE KILLER!

Had he kicked the stool out in the middle of the song, he'd a gone forehead first into the keys 30 seconds later.

dude that was just out of taste

Had he kicked the stool out in the middle of the song and finished it standing up, the crowd would have torn the roof off that place.
netboy04 2 years ago 29
Well, yeah, but today he have a painful problem on the back, and can just play stand for few seconds.
Also his voice it's weak, and wouldn't get it to play stand and sing together.
jerryaltman 2 years ago
Get lost, stupido! The Killer is the best. Period.

At 74 he can still make Madison Square Garden stand up and shout!! Hats off to you Killer.

Hans pianospel är under all kritik. Men det finns en anledning till det. Och den är tyvärr inte mycket att göra åt.

Great performance in the raw. This was bare knuckles without any sideline help..and he obviously had the balls to do it and do it good.
