  • Adam D? from KSE? Awesome!!!

  • This would be good if you were playing Megadeth.

  • There's no much sustain, but he is good.

  • i know its usually done with overdrive, but ... ehh?

  • any one hear try blending it with the amps pregain? i want a new distortion and im kind of curious if anyone has tried.

  • the doom setting....sick....

  • Just got this pedal and I love it so much. The regular price was $240 but they marked it as demo down to $100 and the store owner said it had been tried out only once!

  • Pretty brutal sounds from this pedal considering that you already have a good guitar/pickups.I'm trying to decide between this or the Maxon Super Metal,if not I'll just keep using my discontinued Zoom Tri-Metal which still kicks ass and doesn't need a noise gate.

  • 0:18 SLAYER'S EXPENDABLE YOUTH!!!

  • i like it very much :) and i think with some booster in front it would own.

  • the first riff sounds a bit like rammstein imo

  • are the settings greater clockwise or counter clockwise on this pedal?

  • I'm not a huge metal fan, but I think this pedal has a good sound, and like the other Twin Tubes, is more versatile than just the genre it's designed for. I hear some potential for some non-metal music here.

  • I tried this through a line 6 spider and this WAY better than the amps own shit distortion. This and blackstar's distx pedals will make a shitty amp sound 20 times better i promise you.

  • Dude, I was so impressed that you started off with a riff from an underappreciated song off an underrated Slayer album. A thousand other guys would have played Angel of Death or Hell Awaits instead. Well done sir!

  • @Peatman "underrated"? Dude, Seasons In The Abyss is one of the best Slayer albums. Personally I think it's the best album after Reign In Blood.

  • @wogen20 I 100% agree man, with "underrated" I meant that not enough people appreciate that album and it always seems sort of forgotten. It IS the best thing Slayer did since RiB, hell yeah.

  • would you reccomend this for progressive metal like asking alexandria??

  • @rockersg13 Asking Alexandria are neither progressive or metal.

  • @ofwolfandwhiplash He needs some Mastodon!

  • can i play other genreas like punk and rock with this pedal or just metal?

  • @Igrandov im sure if you were to dial the gain back and adjust the eq a bit you probably could

  • Comment removed

  • the first song kicks ass man. but is it drop d tuning or anything else?

because i'm actually practising it. don't get it :D

  • @copperhett Sounds like Expendable Youth by Slayer. Eb maybe?

  • @copperhett It's concert pitch.

  • good sound จริงๆเเล้วซื้อมาใช้อยู่และชอบเสียงมาก เล่นติดมือดี

  • how can you tell when a pedal sounds good??!!?!! to me this sounds good :(

help me i have no fucking ear for tone quality

  • @Razwithz depends how heavy youd like it to sound..

  • @Razwithz When you speak of good or bad tone depends basically in two things: taste and comparison. Taste is about choosing a sound (pedal) instead of other because it pleases the most your ear due to its particular texture, gain, color, warmth, eq etc. This election sometimes obey the needs of the style you're playing. Speaking of comparison, try and compare 4 metal distortion pedals in a same amp and based upon your taste choose which suits your needs better. And that will be the best dist 4u.

  • @Razwithz stupid question.

  • Again another pile of horseshit from Seymour Duncan.I cant think of any preamp/amp/pedal that they have come out with that doesn't sound like shit.Seymour charges wayy too much for a simple product that if was a car part would be no more than $5.00.Fat fuckin thief.

  • i used it. fat metal distortion. warm and hi gain :D

  • Sounds like it would be better for direct recording.

  • hey im buying myself a new rig with a Peavey 6505+ 112 60 watt combo im saving for. I play a schecter c1 hellraiser with emg 81 an 85 in the neck. Should i get this pedal, a metal muff, boss metal zone, or an mxr fullbore metal, or a mxr Zakk Wylde Overdrive? I play classic rock up to Metallica and Van Halen and am trying to learn more heavey stuff.

  • @hiian123 if u get a good heavy amp like the 6505 u should just need an overdrive pedal that pushes it a bit more...not distortion pedals...i would recommend to look up:

bad monkey , ibanez ts9,maxon od-9,zakk mxr, ocd, nano muff overdrive and look up generally for a company called artec...

  • it sucks. i don't like it. i think that the best sound is from a good amp, not from pedals and stomp boxes and processors and so on.

  • @bloodflow18 Monkey see, Monkey doo

    have a banana..!

  • @bloodflow18

Pedals like these are practically amps in themselves though, so it's not that bad.

  • This pedal sound like crap. Try before u buy. dont make the same mistake i did, $230 dallors for this pedal is not wirth.

  • Twin Tube Mayhem! ok so this is good for clean blues playing then? rofl

  • Hello everyone, I can assure you that this pedal tested on a tube head exudes pure power!

The sound of this viedo and amplifier on which it was tried to make 50% of the real potential of this pedal.

In any case this viedo here on youtube about this pedal is the most reliable quality

  • people need to stop hating on this pedal, its not meant for generic modern medal tones, its meant for harder classic rock/classic metal type tones... just like yuou hear in this video

  • what song is he playing?

  • @bigthomas14 Opening riff was Slayer a song from Soth of Heaven.. Forgot the name though...

  • @dbenc I mean Season in the abyss. Expendable Youth.

  • You have some really sick riffs dude

  • riff at 3:20 is bad ass, needs better pinches though. those were weak.

  • Yeah thats because he hasnt got what I would consider proper humbuckers...

  • hes playing an hss. it has a humbucker in the bridge

  • mmmm slayerrrrrr

  • This would so so awesome with humbuckers!

  • its a fat strat

  • Riff at 2:50 isepic....

  • The riff at 1:55 is BRUTAL!

  • Must set up carrefully the eq is active and change the sound a lot

  • Well I ve gotten this pedal for 2 months and I think its great, all depends of your set up guys and the way you use it.

  • does it come with the plug for the wall

  • duh all pedals come with that :P

  • actualy no. boss, ibanez and electro harmonix pedals dont come with the adapter

  • yeah oke i thought you ment can you plug in a adapter

  • I sold mine because that thing lacks of gain and brings buzz. I plugged it into a peavey classic 30 combo and none of my pickups (duncan SH4, Dimarzio D activator, Bill Lawrence L500,EMG89 and Gibson 490R) could drive it enough for a real modern high gain metal tone. I replaced it with a Blackstar HT DistX and it beats the Duncan by far .

  • that's interesting as i tried the DistX and it didn't sound better than my damage control solid metal pedal, i ended up selling the blackstar

  • i dont like the distortion character.

    its to thin....

    not fat enough

  • It's because the pedal is very middy.

Skip to 2:00 minutes. That's a pretty tight distortion IMO. I'd prefer more mids in there, but that's my opinion.

  • Distortion isn't tight enough

  • Is this pedal good for like metal core. like all that remains killswitch engage and bullet for my valentine. and a little heavier like arch enemy

  • There is no pedal or piece of equipment that's "good for" a certain type of music. I hate it when people ask this! It's all about what you like and what you think sounds good. If you know what you're doing with your gear, then it will be good for what ever you're trying to do.

It's like asking "are these drums good for percussion"?

  • its not that black and white. if your going by what your saying then someone could play death metal with a strat and a fender delux reverb

  • You could, lol. I can get a fat death metal sound out of nothing more then my strat and fender amp.

  • This pedal does a good hi gain tube simulation according to this demo but, aside from the heavy distortion modern metal players look for the booming sledgehammer bass sound (like the 5150 or mesa rectifier possesses) when hitting the power chord or the palm mute and this pedal doesnt seem to do that..

  • yepp, you are right, this pedal isnt to gd for palm muting, you just hear a load of bass and no crunch.. im thinking of selling mine and some other pedals to get a boss gt 10

  • IT looks like you never engaged the boost feature on this demo

  • Ive just won one of these on ebay for 99 pounds, cant wait til it gets delivered

  • 99 pounds.. thats way to heavey, i'd rather get a full stack

  • dude he meant pounds by what they call their money in england pounds

it's not how much this pedal weighs

  • Duh cant believe anyone took that seriously.. Its a good thing he didnt mention euro's

  • i thought you didn't know what pounds were

  • i meant it costed me 99 pounds not that it weighed 99 pounds lol

  • fail. he means pound as in the currency

  • Haha you all are too seroius.. Its called a joke.. Besides this pedal sucks for metal.. It lacks crunch gain.. It has more of a flabby gain structure;.. I got tired of fighting so I got rid of it

  • and wether im wrong or not (not that i am) doesnt matter at this point...hes being a condescending fucking asshole...i simply said something on youtube and he jumps all over and gets pissed...he could have (what he thought was correcting me) told me what he thought...but i disagree...again im talking about premade guitars...you can customize anything to sound like anything...and to touch on the fact he said guitars a piece of wood? wood determines sound as well...

  • condescending? hardly... your comment, as quoted says "cmon...not a strat..not a metal guitar -.- "

some of the most classic metal tones ever were recorded with strats. and you're saying a strat can't be metal, but a les paul, named after the country guitarist who designed it, is a metal guitar? now that doesn't make sense.

and if you knew your gear as well as you thought you do, my comment wouldn't come across as condescending. a matter of strict musical fact.

  • lol you're just a troll so im gunna ignore ya XD..silly silly little nerd...getting all angry because i said something over youtube then trying to prove ur right constantly...acting superior...lol

  • i don't have to prove i'm right, it's all fact. you simply don't know what you're talking about so you've resorted to acting butt-hurt because you can't back up your opinions.

  • yeah strats can do metal i have a fender strat and it has a hotrail in it and it does metal perfect, again dave murray and janick uses fender strats and Adrian uses a jackson but it is alder wood which is what most strats are made out of. and if the vid didnt tell you that he uses a strat i bet you wouldnt be able to tell what guitar it is. i think strats are the most vesitile guitars... well mine is it can do metal, it can do blues, it can do funk, everything, maybe not drop A stuff and shit.

  • shoulda used a dean or a jackson....atleast a les paul...shecter? cmon...not a strat..not a metal guitar -.-

  • you should really do your homework before you post such an ignorant comment. strats not metal? tell that to hendrix, all three guitarists from iron maiden, kk downing and glen tipton from judas priest, tony iommi, and countless others.

  • maybe you should know your shit...

as far as i know...hendrix wasnt a metal guitarist..fucking moron...and just because a couple people use fenders for metal...doesnt mean the company produces metal guitars...these guitars are not nearly as good as dean or jackson for distortion...fenders are more classical metal and vintage...rock..etc..the guitars are not designed for heavy distortion...so go fuck yourself you condescending troll...

  • i think it is YOU who should know your shit. hendrix, led zeppelin, both were the corner stones of the genre that became known as metal. look it up.

and as for fender not making metal guitars? what about jim root from slipknot? a guitar is a piece of wood, and if you throw a couple of high gain pickups in a rickenbacker guess what?! you can play metal on that too!

oh, and since you're such a know it all, perhaps you were aware that fender MAKES jackson and charvelle guitars? guess not...

  • haha lol well said, you are exactly right, you dont need dean and esp to play metal lol a hss strat can handle matal, and then change to neck single coils for blues and clean stuff, now you cant do that with dean and makes like that lol you can just play one type of music and thats metal which a strat can do anyway lol

  • thats obvious but im talking about how the guitars are made not how you customize them...they can be customized to sound however OBVIOUSLY...

  • well i prefer guitars made out of alder wood for metal cause it is more clearler, and i really want a jackson adrian smith model. personally i dont like guitars like dean and esp they suck all they do is play metal and heavier when a strat can play everything including metal it just has a better sound to me.

  • i like jacksons the best as well...i like deans razorback though..bad ass shape XD

  • haha lol i dont like all the weird and crazy shapes tbh i just like strat shapes, sorry bout earlier lol i didnt mean to moan at you like that lol

  • well then, if we're talking production models how about the telecaster custom that comes with duncans and a set neck? or how about the flathead tele and strat that have stock emg 81/85s? or the jim root tele with stock 81/60? or perhaps the david murray strat with minibuckers and hot rails, and a floyd rose bridge?

  • erm, the dave murray strat doesnt have hot rails dude, it has a dimarzio super distortion.... and that is kickass for playing metal.

  • mine does. you're thinking of the second edition that just came out recently. the original dave murray signature (technically known as the "iron maiden strat") had hot rails in the neck and middle positions and a minibucker jb in the bridge.

  • oh rite kl, yh ur right actually i remember now. i really want a adrian smith jackson dinky, ... how long have u been playing guitar for?,,, and how much did that maiden strat cost?

  • 16 years altogether, 13 professionally. got my gig with goose creek symphony at age 12.

  • really wow gd one, so what style of music do u play

  • a little of everything. i like playing old metal (priest and maiden), some thrash, some sludge, psychadelic rock, blues, and quite a bit of funk.

  • they own the company but they've been making guitars like that for a long time stupid...and the argument is over wether the guitar is better suited for metal or other (previous tones ive mentioned)...the argument however is NOT over how fender is related to metal guitars and if they are at all...hendrix wouldnt have been if alot of guitarists before him didnt exist..the same with LOADS of amazing artists...i get that....point is..dean esp jackson shecter etc..are better for metal

  • This is a great demo. Those are all the kinds of riffs I wish I'd played. Instead my demo is just some adaptation of all my old skool riffs. Thank you!

  • would never guessed that there are no mids at 1:56.

anyway, am i the only one thinks this pedal needs more gain?

  • I agree

  • whats the difference between the two buttons?

  • the one on the left turns the distortion on/off, then the one on the right is a boost button. You'd kick in the boost when you go into a solo for added gain.

  • the distortion is great, but the low end is abit loose for modern metal. On the other hand, it would be great for some Electric Wizard type stuff!

  • gawd i dont even really like nor play heavy medal, and i still think this pedal is super kickass.

  • god this pedal is heaven.

i have a boss metalcore and i think i just fell in love with the mayhem xD

  • did really adam d play it??

  • what amp did you run it through?

  • Fender Deluxe Reverb

  • I can see why people say this lacks gain.. It has the midrange and bass for metal but seems to lack the biting distortion

  • Keep in mind that he is playing it through a strat.

  • he does have a humbucker strat so idk what you mean (ex. a Flying V (cliche Metal Guitar) is typically an alder body guitar (like a Strat) less wood etc (typically quite neck heavy) so im not sure thers an argument for a strat with a humbucker not being (metal enough) to demo this (as well cant really expect any pedal to give you that true (brutal, biting metal tone) just my two cents -peace

  • What do you think: This, the T-Rex Bloody Mary, or the Electro Harmonix Metal Muff?

  • If you play thrash metal or any kind of metal with thrash influences, don't buy the blody mary. It lacks so much gain. I mean the pedal has it alL except for gain. The metal muff is a great distortion pedal. It'll sound good with a tube amp. You can get that high over the top distortion or low distortion. Its great for rythem but for leads, sounds aliL dry. I'd get it over the bloody mary. And you cant go wrong with Mayhem, preamp tube pedals own. The metal muff comes pretty freakn close tho.

  • Too the comment above...to kill the dryness of the metal muff throw in some 'verb or delay (now its tech' a wet signal)

  • hooooooooooo i love distortion!!

  • have you heard about the jemini distortion pedal? how do think that would do

  • Yeah the dime distortion is an overdrive, i think. WEll I know for shore this thing has WAY more gain the the DD-11. Buy this thing all the way! plus that that dude said, it has a boost!!

  • should i get this or the dime distortion

  • but for 230 dollers its a little costly

  • my god what a awsome pedal for metal
