I'd like to correct you on a part, although it's a really great review.

There is no Right Analog Stick, unless you're refering to Nintendo's Wii classic Controller, the normal N64 has only one analog. The camera, and some other stuff, is controlled by the C buttons.

Personally, I never liked this game. Of course, I never owned an N64. Went straight from SNES to Gamecube. Ended up playing this at my friends' houses, and I sucked at it. I think the N64 controller was poorly designed. Why did they put the control stick in the middle? Imho, the Gamecube controller is much more comfortable. Granted, I don't play a lot of racing as many haven't delivered a lot lasting appeal. The exception being Jak X. Great story, gameplay, graphics, voice acting, and extras

especially Wii version has bad options, it's stupid, that Grand Prix is only playable for 1 Player

Good review, but I mostly disagree. I don't believe MK64 is the black sheep. MK64 is great because of how simple it is. Not being able to choose your kart makes it fair when playing with friends or even the CPU. I don't think that they're that cheap. Besides the characters, the graphics are awfully amazing for N64. The sound has that Mario atmosphere, because it's very cheery and suits the level perfectly. I don't believe that this is the black sheep, but it's your opinion. Great review.

5. Super Mario Kart: I need a classic controller still to play it, but there's no way I'll put it any higher, but I'm sure I'll like it.

4. Mario Kart 64: Very good: Fun courses and good controls.

3. Mario Kart DS: Great courses, 32! And a wealth of modes! Classic.

2. Mario Kart: Double Dash: So many great characters, courses and karts. Classic.

the character models actually are not bad.they are prerendered but they look smooth and cartoonish like they should.if the models used polygons,they probably would have looked like shit because the game was made in 96-97 when polyons were first starting to be used regulary in games.

The Special Cup should of been locked. It was called the Special Cup for a reason (because you had to do good in Mario Kart to unlock it). I mean Super Mario Kart had it locked, so why not this game too? Still a great game though.

Meh, Diddy kong racing is the best Mario kart style racing game to date IMO...

It has better features and more tracks the only thing that lets DKR down are the items.

Even though they are both identical in controls and gameplay DKR gets the upper hand.

I didn't mind the pre rendered 3D graphical chacaters for MK64 but after seeing how Rare could make a Mario kart clone of their own I was most impressed.

Even Crash Nitro kart and Snowboard kids 1 and 2 outrank this IMO.

On the graphics, Those are sprites. They used sprites because, at that time, having eight plus models in the game would be too stressful on the system. I do agree that the computer is a cheating bastard XP

the reason why the characters look ugly is because the N64 couldn't handle 8 racers on the screen so they used 2D sprites and added the illusion of 3D. so in a nutshell, frame rate problems if they were 3D.

As a single player game, this game is dull. But as a multiplayer one, it is great. The multiplayer is tons of fun and the game is worth it only if you plan to play multiplayer more than single player.
