I saw this in HD today!! The details actually enhanced this! The monster near the end looks incredible. So imaginative and clever considering the limitations at the time. Maybe even better than A Trip to the Moon!
George Mèlies è stato veramente un grande regista, sembrano ridicoli i suoi filmetti a qualcuno, ma bisogna riconoscere però che questi "filmetti ridicoli" hanno iniziato la storia del cinema fantastico!!
It has to be obvious that this isn't the original music. I don't think this tune suits this movie AT ALL!; Now, I liked the Marilyn Manson someone put together with the Mickey Mouse Halloween flick and I can't call myself an M.M. fan-butTHAT WORKED and now I want to listen to some Marilyn.BUT THIS MUSIC-----there isn't one NOTE that's in sync with anything goin' on in this flick and if you listened to the music alone, with ur eyes closed, one would NEVER conjure up this in their heads.
@MrFlashBazbo Oh, my! I didn't mean my comment to come off as not liking Coltrane! I just didn't think that particular music matched the cartoon. My apologies!
When I was a little kid, I shot a crude 8mm version of this movie using Star Wars action figures and a giant clay monster. Alas it doesn't exist anymore.
But, my stop-motion version "Trip to the Moon" did survive the test of time and hope to upload it someday.
I've been waiting to see part of this movie for years. I saw an excerpt of it on TMC along time ago on a speciel dedicated to classic silent horror movies, and it just blew my mind.
Thank you so much for uploading this. :)

The giant ice man puppet should be reproduced the way the Germans build statues in tribute to Paul Wegener as Der Golem.
