The bible is a history book (written as many in schools are by a committee, LOL) and a pretty biased book at that. It may have a place in the literature and history and philosophy, etc. but not as a book to be used as guidance for kids. No fucking way.
Sigh... the crazies have gotten into Chuck's head somehow. Separation of Church and State -- especially when it comes to educating the future businessmen and scientists. If people want to read and learn the good morals of the Bible, they do it on their own time like everyone else.
I'd like to point out I'm an anti-theist, metal head, I hate cats and I have never been on reddit.... and how does having a hot wife and being a martial arts expert have any relation to the bible?
I don't understand what's everyone's problem? This is just some random video from 2008 with Chuck and his wife supporting an elective curriculum. How does this change anything?"
Chuck Norris knows, in case people would read the bible - religion won't be as dangerous, I guess God asked Chuck if he could help him with all those christian extremists - and chuck found a way!
P.S. can someone tell me how much a virgin costs according to the bible? In € or $, pls! 2. Mose 22.16
Honestly i think this raises a good point, we should let the bible be an elective in high school. I also think we should let the 'deep' sciences like biology and chemistry be electives, why? because im currently taking chemistry and it is hard as steel balls. I took biology last year and passed it by the blond hairs on my 16 year old ass.
Also I'm a homosexual atheist. This isn't me supporting Christians this is me supporting a diverse educational environment.
@BadGrammarftw I hate it when fags like you say "lol im a gay atheist my arguments are more appealing now since i'm a minority!! Eat that those of you who disagree!! You Nazi's!!" You go eat a dick (probably you've done it already)
@BadGrammarftw If they do a Bible class they need to do a Qu'ran class, a Torah class, etc. Schools can't favor a particular religion. Instead of a class focusing on a singular holy book, make it a class that focuses on religion in general.
"The bible contains more knowledge necessary to man in its present state than any other book in the world". Too bad it didn't have the knowledge to save your acting career. You're dead to me.
You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the church, not join them. You were to bring balance to the states, not leave it in darkness.
"The bible contains more knowledge necessary to man in its present state than any other book in the world". I've got dozens of science and mathematics textbooks on my shelf that contradict that statement, Chuck.
I think a school is a place of learning, not converting people to Christianity. As a student of a Christian High School, I was told to pray every morning and religious class was compulsory.
The bible should be read in classes of relevance (religious education) only. If students or teachers want to have a prayer club or such, then they should do it in their own time. Try to imagine being at a Christian school as an Atheist, hindu or any other culture. It is not fair and is not multi-cultural.
Why are they standing so uncomfortably close together? Why do rich Americans also need to have the Creator of the Universe on their side? Is it really so necessary to turn school into church, if they honestly believe the Bible is so important? No, because the Bible isn't important, it's a tool to keep the masses down from rebelling against holier-than-thou hypocrites like Chuck Norris.
If you want a religious study as an elective class in public high schools. Have it as a religious study class and not solely focused on one religion. If the class's focus was on the different religious beliefs and their texts I would be fine with it as an elective class for public high schools.
Christians think they can make convert every children in the world, don't respect other religions. A muslim, buddist, jewish child or from eny other religion don't have to learn about your christian crap, the most unoriginal religion in the whole world, just a puzzle formet by elder religions.
Fuck them! You want to carry a bible everywhere you go, no one is against that. Do that instead of forcing your believes on others. Goddamn mongoliods.!
@Vulpiq When did people say they want their kids to carry bibles to school? and when does holding a bible force religion on others? I think the issue isn't with faith based parents wishing that their kid could pray in school if they wanted, which affects ABSOLUTELY no one, it's with the autheist parents who cant teach their children to think for themselves and decide what they want to believe and how to not be swayed by the masses.
@121mendez Yes, religious education from a historical standpoint is a valuable part of the curriculum. Not just christian history, but the history of all major faiths. Unfortunately Chuck is approaching this from a sunday school perspective, and that is just a big no no.
News flash: not everybody is a Christian in this country. Perfectly good citizens who happen to be Muslims as well might not appreciate the Bible being forced on their kids at schools they pay taxes to keep up.
Chuck believes that government bureaucrats know more about God than you do. He hates America and wants a Sharia-style government that merges church and state.
@babybabekiss it won't be so funny when your flesh is forever being burned in the fiery pits of hell! No, I am actually trying to sound stupid and ignorant. Basically I am trolling very lazily (i suck), but yeah, I was not serious or anything. I am an atheist and have been since I was a child.
Oh my gosh! Chuck believes that their should be an *ELECTIVE* Bible course in schools. So that means kids could decide whether or not to take this *ELECTIVE* class on their own. HOW AWFUL! Poker Face.
More ignorant religious people discussing the founding fathers as if they were against seperation of church and state. America was essentially founded on the idea of seperation of church and state, as many early Americans were fleeing religious persecution in England where the Catholic church had so much sway over the government.
Many founding fathers were Protestant yet they ensured there was no mention of God in the constitution and God didn't appear on our money or the pledge until 1950s.
@LantisRayEarth Speaking of ignorance, the Church of England is not Catholic. In fact, the Gunpowder Plot of Guy Fawkes was a Catholic plan to kill James I, who was King at the time.
Yay! Promote more ignorance please! Maybe after the bible gets into the schools, we can see about getting some classes on the flying spaghetti monster. Also, according to the bible, you're not supposed to promote your religion openly, cut your hair, or wear mixed fabrics. So way to promote the bible while ignoring its content.
Interesting...so what ever happen to freedom of religion then? I guess you better start endorsing the readings from every other religion as well to keep it fair. C'mon Chuck, its this kind of idiocy that divides people and creates hate towards each other. Start teaching bible study in school and you are giving people a reason to discriminate against other religions. Ask yourself this, how would you feel if your child was forced to study the Quran at school. Its time u stop being a puppet Chuck.
This is very sad, and not at all what the founding fathers would want. The great nation of the USA was built upon the _separation_ of church and state.
So what if Chuck believes in God? So what if he has his own opinion? Just because someone might disagree with him doesn't mean that Chuck isn't cool anymore. If anything, it makes him more badass knowing that he can believe and do as he pleases.
