@CompleteAndTotalJunk As far as dedicated MIDI controllers go, none that I know of. However, seeing as how many people now own smartphones, pretty much any iPhone/Android/Windows Mobile/Windows Phone/Maemo device will have some sort of MIDI controller app where you can set up your computer as a server for the client app that runs on the phone. Many of these apps are also mutli-touch aware, so you can really move the knobs, sliders and pads anyway you wish without any problems! Google it!

Okay, so basically: the DS is communicating MIDI data over WIFI to the laptop. Then the laptop converts that MIDI data into serial data and sends it over a USB port. If you are seriously interested, i can make a tutorial for you.
Well to be honest I was thinking of making a remote control car, using the arduino platform, and controlling it over from the PC WIRELESSLY, and possibly from the DS. So Yea I guess a tutorial would be great Thanks!
Oh okay, umm, do you have a specific model / type of remote control car for this application? And how would one control this remote control car normally?
lol... I thought you might not understand....basically the way you moved the pointer up and down the DS screen will be the same on the PC to control the motors connected to the Arduino. So you control the car by moving the cursor on a PC.
I stumbled on a thing called the Mousepointer pointer, that used a program that followed the cursor and sends the data to the Micro and to the servo. I was thinking of controlling the car that way!
That's awesome... I've been thinking about using my ds with the Arduino, but hadn't thought about wireless for some reason. It'd be pretty neat to control an arm or something.
oh whoops - hi Tobias - just saw that it is you. I just wanted to say very nice work you are doing with the MIDI Wifi, but I am especially a fan of Nitrotracker. Brilliant!! Cheers, Sebastian (Adelaide, Australia)
You have to admit, this application of the tool chain is a little boring. Next time have it control the amplitudes of a 303 sequence and a breakbeat loop and I guarantee you'll get some views. Or the pitch of two Madonna songs played simultaneously.
Hi there, it is using DSMIDIWIFI (by Tobias Weyland) to send data from the DS to the computer without wires. Then the computer is connected to the board via a USB cable.
yeah i've done a little bit of circuit bending, more specifically controlling circuit bent things using CMOS digital circuits (see some of my videos like "toy phone + space sword = sequencer" and "The Life and Times of Dr Fart").
Not too much soldering is required, but when soldering is required it is often straight to a PCB or something. So not heaps heaps easy (not heaps heaps hard, either, though).
ok. my hearing has been checked.

Where do you get the parts to build it??
LegoKid92 1 year ago
Or, for the same money, you could get a MIDI controller with an X-Y touchpad...

And trow away after you use them...
Reusing your DS that you use everyday is cheaper.

@TheSilentwarrior99 Not everyone owns a DS...

@ridicalgarbage02 If you dont own a DS then you cant reuse one can you?

@radicalgarbage02 wow! what midi controllers with x/y pads send midi over wifi? would really like to know. excellent comment, btw!

Heard of DSerial?
eliminates the need for everything except the DS :P I guess you could include the arduino if you wanted more processing power

can you send data back to the ds?

i think it is a great idea. nice one!
i will let you know when i get around to making such a tutorial. i might have time tomorrow or the next day.

how do you control the arduino live from the computer?? I don't get it! Is there a link you would advise to get the same effect?
