God doesn't cause sickness or sadness, but He can certainly bring something amazing out of it. He sometimes gives us trials but nothing we can't handle, only things that will make us stronger in the end. :)

i was going thou a really hard time in my life, the loss of my grandmother's (both of them) a month apart and it was so hard on me and my family. and then the whole lie my best friend told me after a 11 months of lying to me. i just gave up on hope all together, until i heard this song the other day in the car with my mom and it just seemed like their was hope in my life again. GOD just took all the pain and hurt out of my life...and just made me feel whole again and not hurt.

This song describes my life. No one else seems to understand. At least, not in my town. I've tried talking to my youth pastor, reading all kinds of books, looking for answers in God's word, and it all says to 'give things up to Jesus, then forget them' and 'look for God's grace' and all kinds of stuff like that. But, what does that MEAN? How do I DO that? No one has an answer for that.

This song brings me to tears, I've had to make so many choices this year and in this year I've lost four of my friends, people I thought where my family.I could of kept them, could of kept living a lie with them and slowly let our friendship die and be miserable but I decided the friendships had to end. MY choice hurt but they where for the best, I am no longer lying to myself and my friends have now screwed up their lives. I made the right choice...
I had neck surgery last August on my C5-C6 disk. It cost me what I thought was my dream job, of becoming a police officer. I started the academy in January, then in March I was let go, due to injury concerns on thier behalf. Now I'm at home with my youngest daughter. I don't know where I am will go next, what I will do, but I trust in God and that he has a plan for me. But getting out of THE MOTIONS is the first step.

@ilovecaitiegoff I will pray for you! I am also going through the motions. My dad is a pastor and I am a Sunday school teacher and leader for the youth & I sing in the worship group. I have been Christian my whole life but there are always those things that make us struggle with our faith. But when we turn to God, He is always there for us and takes us out and shows us His great mercy. Then we realize again how amazing and loving HE is.
@ilovecaitiegoff Brad, we all fail. I am 35, and at 20 was so on fire for God that I thought that I'd never fall, but I just came out of a decade of complete backsliding. The good news is that He isn't surprised, or shocked, but always forgives and loves us. He'll always take us back, but we should never take that lightly, because it took the cross to purchase it.
Dear God, I ask you to bless your son Brad, as he struggles to break out of just going through the motions. I ask you to help him break out fo the habits he is so ashamed of. But instead of staying stuck in the past he is working hard to be a better person and believes that moving forward with God in full view he is working to become a Pastor at North Central College. Once he became close to God he has made up for the wrong this he has done by staying true. He no longer is just going through the motions...

This song would be so much better if he just changed the words to last line of the chorus. It looks like this when you put it together:
"I dont wanna go through the motions....instead of going through the motions"
It doesnt make complete sense sounds rather redundant when it should actually has a chance to express something more at the end of the chorus.
How about ending that chorus with:
"...instead of reaching for excuses"
OR

this song is for me. i struggle with going through the motions. i DONT want to spend my whole life asking "what if i gave everything". i dont want to go through the motions. i struggle with going to church, praying, having faith. i feel so guilty about that. and i feel like i dont deserve His help or mercy. pray for me please. thank you if you do. if you dont, well i dont really deserve it anyway.....

This song brings me to tears, I've had to make so many choices this year and in this year I've lost four of my friends, people I thought where my family.I could of kept them, could of kept living a lie with them and slowly let our friendship die and be miserable but I decided the friendships had to end. MY choice hurt but they where for the best, I am no longer lying to myself and my friends have now screwed up their lives. I made the right choice...

I had neck surgery last August on my C5-C6 disk. It cost me what I thought was my dream job, of becoming a police officer. I started the academy in January, then in March I was let go, due to injury concerns on thier behalf. Now I'm at home with my youngest daughter. I don't know where I am will go next, what I will do, but I trust in God and that he has a plan for me. But getting out of THE MOTIONS is the first step.

Just wanted to say this is a awesome song. My grand daughter Lily Grace which is 4ys was singing this the other morning on the way to day care. So many Pastor and people that r saved just go through the Motion. My prayer is that I give my best each as it was my last day. God Blessed keep the faith.

I LOVE THIS SONG! I went to you concert in McAlester Oklahoma! It was AMAZING! Lance McAfee was there talking about Ryan McAfee and i just..wow that was amazing what courage Lance had to talk about his story. what Ryan did with this song was incredible! I'll pray for you Brad. I've dealt with the same things and it's hard. One of the most important moments of my life was when I finally broke down and got really honest with myself and with God. It's not a quick walk out, you will struggle--I still do sometimes--but you can do it. Just remember, God is GOOD and he's there for you.

Man I am going through the motions and I have been struggling so much with addictions like lust, lieing, everything... My name is Brad Anderson and I am 16 years old, i have been going through the motions for the past 3 years of my christian life, i am a youth leader in my church, I am our worship leader, and I cant even make it through playing this song without breaking down into tears & thinking of my past & the temptations of today, will you please pray for me? I understand the struggles people in leadership go through but we can go throught the motions. God didn't call us to great things to just do the minimum. We were chosen to do the big stuff. Brad, ask the Lord to show you what to do. What is it you don't believe you have in Jesus that you want? Why are you doing what you are doing at church? I will pray that God will open up your heart to reveal the darkness and that His light will fill all the places of fear, desire, doubt that He should own. We don't belong to ourselves. That is the hardest thing for us to accept. We belong to Him. He bought us with His blood. God bless you and set you free.

@ilovecaitiegoff I will pray for you! I am also going through the motions. My dad is a pastor and I am a Sunday school teacher and leader for the youth & I sing in the worship group. I have been Christian my whole life but there are always those things that make us struggle with our faith. But when we turn to God, He is always there for us and takes us out and shows us His great mercy. Then we realize again how amazing and loving HE is.

@ilovecaitiegoff Brad, we all fail. I am 35, and at 20 was so on fire for God that I thought that I'd never fall, but I just came out of a decade of complete backsliding. The good news is that He isn't surprised, or shocked, but always forgives and loves us. He'll always take us back, but we should never take that lightly, because it took the cross to purchase it.

Dear God, I ask you to bless your son Brad, as he struggles to break out of just going through the motions. I ask you to help him break out fo the habits he is so ashamed of. You know Brad's heart, Lord, you know what he wants and you know how hard he's trying. @ilovecaitiegoff My Youth Group leader is 22 and he has done many sad, wrong things in his life. But instead of staying stuck in the past he is working hard to be a better person and believes that moving forward with God in full view he is working to become a Pastor at North Central College. Once he became close to God he has made up for the wrong this he has done by staying true. He no longer is just going through the motions...

i first heard this song when i went to caswell with my youth group. and when i first heard this song i instantly fell in love with it. that whole trip and this song has made me feel closer to god.

I just recently heared about what happened to Matthew and I must say I admire his faith in God, it has inspired me. (Yes, I lived under a rock lately - my husband is deployed for 6 months now and I tried to make time go faster by working a lot).
