Spider-man = Mario! think about it: Peter Parker has a Spider-man costume, Mario could easily have a Peter Parker costume (unconfimed, but plausible), Mario can somehow jump about as well as Spider-man and vice versa, and Mario throws flaming balls of web to attack stuff (what else could the fireballs be made of?)
