HEY I REMEMBER THIS ERA OF RAP, IT WAS BACK WHEN SONGS HAD MEANING BEHIND THEM INSTEAD OF TODAY WHERE COMMON THEMES IN RAP ARE MUH DICK AND MUH BLING!
whats up withing showing Oliver North? if they have a constant argument there next video will be showing Eric Holder for selling guns do drug cartels. what are the chances of that?
George H W Bush,Ronald Reagan and Oliver North are some of the BIGGEST criminals in this countries history. And I mean TREASON. Sold weapons to Iran...... How do you think Al Queda got theirs weapons and training ? The CIA !!!
Thank you all for the comments. This video ( and the entire group!!!) is very unknown in Spain, but I see people around the world love P.E. as I love them. Thanks
@Morthund a-a-a-agreed! 44yo white suburban former(?) punk here. PE speaks the truth. I used to spin records in punk and alt clubs back in the day, and Public Enemy was one of the the "black acts" that were always widely well received by everyone - even those who supposedly hated hiphop.
cheers mate, thing is, if I really try to not bullshit my own self, I guess I gotta say that back then I would have been one of those Cretin' Hoppin' "oh i don't like blac music" idiots of which you mentioned
thank fuck i aint the same person now...for fucks sake am i the only person who looks agape at how stupid last week's Me was?
After all these years, dammit this still goes hard. Too hard for the mainstream media, who pay millions to their pied-piper pop-rap puppets to keep the population dumb and content with apolitical shallow materialism.
Why yall complain on Jay-Z i dont see or hear his whack shit anywhere maybe its becouse i dont watch music channels anymore becouse they are whack as never.
Public Enemy POWER! Been bumping this song for 7 years(not much but...) :D
"Police suppose to keep the Peace, but I cant truss em' so I keep my Peice"..."Indiana trees hanging Us instead of Leaves??".. best lyrical lines in the song!!!! Fire!!!!
That's the most gangsta hip-hop video I've seen. The video makes you wonder who are the real criminals. The folks that are locked up in prison or those in power that commit crimes but don't do time in prison.
Chuck D is easily one of the the best rappers Ive ever heard, period. Great voice, intelligent lyrics, rappers today only wish they had one ounce of his skill
Who's the real criminal -- the guy who's selling weed to make ends meet, or the guy whose lies led a nation into war and thousands of people into their graves? And which one are we focused on locking up for decades? Chuck D, forever and always a PROPHET OF RAGE.
@olderthanyou That maybe true. But the sad real truth is that people don't give a shit about anything anymore. Their more interested in having a big house, a big screen tv and a big bank account. Black and whites included. Hip hop today is bullshit....it's all about money...money ....money...even their music video's show Huge houses, fancy cars and tons of bitches. People look up to guys like Jay-z and ludacris....but exactly doing exactly that!
Isn't amazing how old shool hip hop like this sounds better that new rap krap today? Hip hop today definiteley lost it's edge, too many rappers sound the same, we didn't have that in the 80's and 90's hip hop, everyone had thier own style!!
are we living in hazy shade of crime today in society look at what going on in the world, we are living in a negative society. people are out for them selves. look how we treat people its a crime to say hi to some one know thy self
Nobody gets to sit on their butts and whine about how rap isn't like PE anymore. Boredom sets into the boring mind -- Get angry, get focused, then get it done. Discontent is the fuel of creation. Light some matches, kids.....
flavor flav is a joke i thought he was like chuck d, he was in love with a old ugly white lady on the flavor of love, what a disgrace to chuck d and all public enemy stood for, power to the beats
Hip Hop is gonna be like this again.. it just has too.. all this bling and money crap was played out back when PE did it up the first time.. maybe if kids were being taught to actually read and right they would be more concerned with the power of words and ideas and less concerend about the crappy labels on their clothes etc.
I'm still shocked they let that on tv after school. Really serious stuff.
Many of PE's tracks, if not all, destroyed a lot of the perceived hoodlum rich gangsta bling bling lifestyle altogether. It would have been really something amazing if this aspect of hardcore hip hop kept on evolving.
Though if it did, change would have happened, and that type of change is not welcome by mass marketing agencies. Music that gets you to buy Caddys and 40 oz's is better for business than books i guess.
@gat333 so your third eye is open. Good and yes jay z is here for now but it will come out sooner or later that he got skeletons in his closets. Watch

This chilling introductory quote from Chuck D is mostly cut off on this video but the tail end of it can be heard.
