You're right, police sometimes follow or monitor people, which (many times) goes hand in hand with an investigation. @1775novten I don't think I ever said they went out with a plan to harrass the cops. But, from what I gather from this video they were following an off-duty cop, who they suspected of drunk driving. Anytime you follow someone, you create suspicion, and sometimes create fear in people who might decide to call the cops. I think these guys were well prepared and possibly hoping that would happen. They were obviously hamming it up for the camera, which did waste a lot of the officer's time.

What if they stopped, confronted you, had a gun and you didn't? Why not just call the police and give their plate/car description? That's what police do! You have to realize that these youtube vidoes are most always slanted and edited to favor the agenda of the person posting them. Plus, we don't know the person's criminal history who's creating them.

I also understand we aren't getting the full story, but it does seem a bit odd to get pulled over and issued a harassment ticket without the police witnessing it or the accuser being there. It kind of makes us believe that it really was a cop that they were following and he called his buddies to stop the filmers from following him, instead of he himself issuing the ticket - maybe because he WAS intoxicated.

His attitude is obviously cocky and demeaning to the officer, who is most likely just trying to do his job. I would guess this guy making this video is someone who law enforcement deal with A LOT. I don't see how police can issue a ticket just on the word of someone else - I don't think it should work that way. Since police officers collect evidence, as opposed to making rulings of guilt or not-guilty, I'm sure the officer felt he would gather up the evidence, write a citation, and let the DA's office and Judge handle it from there. Driving around at night is probable cause enough under the patriot act for you to be held without cause for up to 48 hours. If you want to do something about it, then go over their heads.
