I just want to know what size, width, and backspace you are runing and if you had to mod anything so they fit? Please get back to me my wagon is begging for some new wheels.
What suspension are you running? Hotchkis? There are some serious deals out there for Caprice wagons and I heard they were also good in the snow. Oh yeah, not to mention all the room for hauling stuff!!
@slickkapone It's been a while since i've looked at my springs lol. i'm actually going to change the front springs in the future and i'm pretty sure the springs are hotchkis. These wagons are pretty amazing.
Yo that's a hot wagon mine is all black eith the blacked out taillights I got dual chevy pipes running straight out the back and the back windows are limo tint I was thinking about putting some heavy duty suspension all around it and throwing some black and chrome twenties on it
@godmc82 Thanks man! I have 18's on the car now, but i'm going to use the same wheel and throw a 20in. version on the rear and leave the 18 on the front. Do you have a video of your wagon?
@Notchcoupe I would have chose of something different for the LS1 is all, but to each his own. I dont have what I used to have anymore, 03 Dakota QC for a daily. Lost a sweet 77 Camaro 92k. in 4/27/11 tornado. 67 Chevelle 396 needs resto but going to sell due to ESLD.It's the 1 that I wanted to resto the most but won't. Dont have the time to run down parts. I know it prob. took you atleast a couple wks. to swap out. Sorry bout the comment, just have fun!
@Geraldtoo it's cool man. i'm going on my second year with working on this car. it has definitely come a long way and is getting closer and closer to being finished. hope you come across another project to do an LSX swap on! LS motors are amazing engines and i recommend them to everyone.
@tun3tu Thank you! This car has now turned into a 3 year project and is almost complete! it is running, driving and leaving quarter mile long burnout marks! Hopefully your dream will come true to make it to america one day!
@msm1player I do have exhaust on it but it's not my final setup. i have to change my gas tank so i can run true duals out the back. I have pacesetter long tubes, universal spintech x pipe and mufflers. i will be upgrading to 3 inch exhaust. the frame did have to get notched some. the pcm is crazy! finally getting it figured out though and this car is making insane power!
@BadBoyzandChevyz Thanks man! i've been saying it for a while, but i will post a new video soon. Now i'm just battling the "nickle and dime" section of this project and having to fix all of the small things.
@allmostafelon yeah there are now. i posted this vid over 2 years ago and when i first started this swap, i couldn't find any information on this lsx swap.
@lelarose1000 i believe i'm running a 295-40-18 on the rear and a 255-40-18 on the front. i can't remember what brand it is, but they are pricy zrated tires
@Notchcoupe Rims looks just perfect, proportionwise. Not too small and not too big. Been thinking about getting some 18" wheels for my Roadmaster, now I'm even more convinced that it's the perfect size for these cars.
Love the project trying one my self w/ a roadmaster s.w. staying w/ the LT1 but posable Turbo if funds premiting but my queston is im intrested your choice of wheel and tire setup if you could please give me the brand sizes and off set and it looks like you lower it what did you use and do you like it Thanks Jeff
@lelarose1000 i'll message you the wheels and tire information. the car is lowered new shocks and springs on the front and rear. the car rides amazingly. it is pretty low but i haven't really had any scraping issues.
What up notch hows it going I see these kids still haven't learned about the LS1. Anything major with your wagon ? Not shit with mine money has been to tight. Slowly but surely I guess. Just stopped in to say WHAT UP!!! And to see if you got any new progress.
@dumbace702 hey man what's going on! I promise i'll post a new video soon! we are in the final stages of finishing this car. Times have been tough and money has been tight! I have to get new O2 sensors, u joints, brake lines and retuned and it'll be ready! Paint and interior will come later!
i got a 92 BRMEW with a standard 350....i like the idea of this motor/car combo, but it is just too loud......when i think LS1 i think corvette....which means quiet idle and cruise until the baffles open at w.o.t....i feel all these wagons should be quiet, comfortable cruise missiles
@MrOce123 It was loud because we just got it running that day and it was just on straight headers. it is a little less quiet now, but still sounds beastly lol.
@BLACKLACDTS A company makes an air intake called the Raisse for these cars. The intake is made for an LT1, but I'm pretty sure that all you'd have to do is change the intake to a circle instead of an oval. just search RAISSE intake and click on the first link, go to the media and find the blue intake. That's an LS motor in there.
@Mu4dD1b15 Really?? We didn't think it was too bad. All metal custom that seperates the filter area from the engine compartment. Everything here is unfinished as far as paint goes though.
@LT1ASTRO I wasn't bashing minivans although, regardless of how fast a minivan is, its still lame!! Sorry but nobodys pullin ass with a minivan. Maybe with a full size!!
@ThunderAppeal it's been a while since i've been under the car, but i don't think we had to for the oil pan, but we did have to shave some of the frame for running the exhaust.
@drpe i can't wait to finish this car! there is a good bit involved with this swap and it can be a headache. we are having to experiment with it because we weren't able to find any information on an ls1 swap on a caprice
Notch, do what you do. Im kinda on the fence about LS vs LT good engines both have their pros and cons as with anything. It's your ride,I ain't madatcha man!!
@leoconvoy haha thanks man. and you're right about pro's and con's having relations with everything. i just find ls motors to be way more reliable than an LT
@leoconvoy LS1 blows the LT1 outta the water anyday man, the LT1 was good in its day, but this is the 21st century, every car should have an ls motor in it in my opinion.
man i love LS motors and caprices so naturally i love this car, it looks like you did a clean job on swapping it. i see the inspection is NC and the tag is SC so where is the car? i gotta ask though, i thought the GTO's had LS-3's in them, or is that just the 05 and newer? i know the 04 gto only had the 5.7 with single tail pipe and the 05 and up had the 6.0 with dual pipes. maybe thats the differnce?
@Notchcoupe LOL ok, is that why there are 8 second LT1's? LS1's respond better to mods than LT1's. But once you go highly modified it doesn't really matter anymore.
@mwernero0 Wow, did you take a break from jacking off to internet porn for this comment?? what was it. . . oh yeah. . a douche wagon. At least your comment was more creative than your car!!!
@mwernero0 mom's minivan?? My mom owns an original GTO judge dumbass. We didn't have minivans when I was a kid anyways. . . unlike your punk ass! I own an 87 Buick Grand National, 96 mustang GT, 97 LS1 swapped Z28 "highly modded", an 06 mustang GT, and an 09 ZX14. That enough for ya!! BTW, the LT is a far cry from an LS!! your not intelligent enough for me to explain why.
@reel66 yeah i'll have some vids coming soon hopefully. I've run into some computer tune issues done by Speartech. I do not recommend them to anyone. I think i'm going to have to buy a new computer.
@Notchcoupe they always do bro, dont rush it take your time ad make it the monster you want it to be. its worht the time, and anyone can respect taking time on a good car haha
hey. thats pretty cool! i have the same car but 1995. has the LS-1 as well. i'd like to put that sort of mean camshaft on. but i got a small budget. about how much did it cost you?
@mwendler11 i'd have to go digging through my pile of receipts haha. i wanna say for the cam and the kit the i got with it, it was around 350-400 bucks.
i'm definitely running true duals. i'm going to the exhaust shop tomorrow to schedule an appointment. i'm not exactly sure how i want to run my exhaust past my x-pipe, but either way it'll be badass lol
@Notchcoupe spintech makes a nice exhaust system for the gto's ma neighbor has the ls2 in his gto and its a beautiful sounding car. they make exhaust for 94-96 impalas too. i wanted to get spintech set up for my caprice project but that fell short ma ass got an accord :( i could so use those extra 4 cylinders in my accord hahaha
What's up Notch just thought I would stop by and say hello anything new yet? My Wagon sitting in the garage on the floor with a dead battery almost feel like charging it up and go for a cruise.
nothing new yet. haven't had much time to work on it except on weekends and the weather has been lame here pretty much every weekend. i've taken my wagon around the block a couple of times and it's rediculously loud. I still don't have my exhuast bolted up yet, but this wagon will be done soon! any upgrades on your caprice?
Not a new thing at all except the guys that did the swap didn't put all of the emissions crap on it so I can't get it registered until I fix that problem. So I have kinda lost interest for now. Summers coming soon so I better get off my a** and finish it though talk at u later hope for better for u so u can get that monster finished. Can't wait for u to get on it and feel that beast move! your gonna SH*T yourself
you will have to notch the frame a little to make the manifolds/headers fit. you'll most likely have to relocate the AC compressor if you want that option and it would be good to get your computer programmed according to your modifications at speartech. my exhaust still hasn't been routed and we're still working out a few bugs. If you are using headers, i'd probably try the block huggers or custom. I attempted the Fbody long tubes. didn't work out like i thought and is a very tight fit.
@Notchcoupe hay man i still see u working on your ls1 caprice so am i but i just wanted to commet on the thing u said about notching the frame to make the headers fit because i dont belive mine was notch and i have headers on my ls1 caprice but tomorrow i double check
hmm.. weird. the ones that i got were for an F-body. I wasn't exactly sure on what kind of headers to get since i couldn't find any information on this kind of swap when i started. i'm learning as i go.
thanks man! still working on it. the next vid. i'll post will probably be of the completed exhaust then after that will be the new paint and finalized project.
The car I have was started by Musso Motorsports but obviously never finished. Musso from the above shop wanted to trade for my 62 Impala basket case so I jumped on it, now I get to finish it. Anyways nice clean install and sounds strong. Whats next on your list? Keep me posted
next on the list woud be to install my floor shifter, put in my electric fans, install my 342 gear, try to figure out what kind of bracket i need to use for my ac compressor, and then to the exhaust and body shop. not too much lol
I was going to do that but my funds weren't and still aren't agreeing with me, so i'm going to do that later along with either a turbo or supercharger.
I just want to know what size, width, and backspace you are runing and if you had to mod anything so they fit? Please get back to me my wagon is begging for some new wheels.

demchevyboyz 2 years ago
what kind of headers did you use with your caprice? I have pacesetter long tubes
Notchcoupe 2 years ago
yea thats the same ones i have too
demchevyboyz 2 years ago
hmm.. weird. the ones that i got were for an F-body. I wasn't exactly sure on what kind of headers to get since i couldn't find any information on this kind of swap when i started. i'm learning as i go.
Notchcoupe 2 years ago
yea me too and im findig stuff out the hard way left and right but my headers were already on the motor so i save a couple of bucks there
demchevyboyz 2 years ago
yeah i'm trying to save any way i can, but haven't had much luck haha.

The car I have was started by Musso Motorsports but obviously never finished. Musso from the above shop wanted to trade for my 62 Impala basket case so I jumped on it, now I get to finish it. Anyways nice clean install and sounds strong. Whats next on your list? Keep me posted
dumbace702 2 years ago
next on the list woud be to install my floor shifter, put in my electric fans, install my 342 gear, try to figure out what kind of bracket i need to use for my ac compressor, and then to the exhaust and body shop. not too much lol
Notchcoupe 2 years ago
ok. i spent months trying to find information on an ls1 swapped caprice and found nothing. so my bad. i'll check out your ride.

I was going to do that but my funds weren't and still aren't agreeing with me, so i'm going to do that later along with either a turbo or supercharger.
