  • Its a beautiful dog but when he pulls the lead up it looks horrible :/

  • Freestack & Gait fail.

    xD

  • VERY NICEEEE

  • I think the Japanese Akita is the best.

I can not understand why Americans had to create their Akita...

The original has the charm of a race that has existed for more than a thousand-years, the american akita loses this appeal.

  • The phot of Hachiko that I referred to had the build and stature of the amirian breed but the light coloring of the Akita Inu. Also, the fact that the japanese wouldnt have liked the idea the the americans liked "their"dog, was enough for the japanese breeders to change the standard of the Akita to what we have today. Either way, Both standards are an amazing dog. I love my Akita like nothing else, very special.

  • It has been said the the "american" akita standard was actually considered to be a closer link to the original japanese Akita than that of today. The American serviceman took a liking to the breed whist they occupied Japan and hence took them home with them. There is also a Photo of Hachiko that I saw recently that shows to have more of the build of the "american"standard.

  • 脚長いなー

  • ...Japanese are saying that American Akitas are not true Akitas although American Akitas were born and bred IN JAPAN to begin with. They are exactly the same dogs that were bred in Japan in 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, first of which were imported by Helen Keller and servicemen stationed in Japan, and reflect and preserve Japanese standard perfectly. It is AFTER Akitas were exported out of Japan Japanese breeders decided to radically change the breed back to its ancient standards. Still pure, IMHO.

  • @ArtCrimeLog

No they are diferent dogs... American ones have German Shepherd and a few other dogs mix. Also, american ones are bigger, bulkier than their japanese cousins. Im almost sure that they come in several colors, while the Akita Inu (jap) has only 4 variations of colors... They ARE different indeed. Similar, but different nontheless.

  • I think not. Ask your local vet to do a DNA sample on both types. American and Japanese. There is no differance in the genetic make up. It's all made up to for people to think they have something special. Also so they can charge you more!

And the idiot that says American Akitas or dumber then Japanese type. get a life. you just suck at training dogs!

  • This Dog ..Face ideal

  • why does he drag the dog so high with that leash?

looks like he wants to strangle it

  • he's doing it dog show style

  • @ggurks its a show thing. if you watch dog competitions you will notice all handlers do it. its to keep the dogs head up so you can view the dogs composer.

  • かわいい

  • Nice dog. I'm planning to own one. I would name it Aniki.

  • i have an american akita and she is the smartest i missed her so mush

  • id tap that

  • your FUCKED up !?

  • Oh! real ginga's riki :D

  • Amazing dog:)

  • The AKIHO website is in japanese so ur gona have to use google translate ..

  • The original akita does not exist anymore both akita types are mixed the akita inu of today comes from the Ichinoseki line combined with magati and hokkaido inu the american akita comes from the dewa and Ichinoseki line Japan selectively bred their akita to appear the way it does now go the AKIHO website to view both types that appeared in its past and present shows.

  • no man you have it all backwards plus you have a biased opinion, because you have an american akita, you think they are the best, you would not know until you have owned both, which i have. Trust me the american akita is pretty retarded.

  • Well i do not no where you get your information, but no they do not.

  • I have an american akita, and he is the smartest, sweetest dog i have ever had

  • @destroyerpigeon the American Akitas dogs are not retards.Just not Akitas

They are true Mutts......Nothing wrong with Mutts. In the show ring what are they Judging not Akitas the American type well!? they have breed out any Akita in them.

just My thoughts they are correct.:)

  • @elwap0 If you use that definition, all dog breeds are mutts. Had they never been bred with different kinds of dogs they would still be wolves. I prefer Akita Inu, though. I find them much more elegant.

  • @ArtemisAstraea The Akita Inu Hozonkai Society was formed to maintain the breed standard in Japan long ago the dogs in the the Japanese show rings today are as closer to the original dogs in japan. There was dog fighting and was very popular late 18 and 19th century so they were breeding Akitas with many other breeds like the Tosa @other dogs for fighting so now when you see a Akita that looks like another breed your right. This was told to me by one of the original LA AKIHO members..

  • @ArtemisAstraea I agree ,Akita Inu Hozonkai you might want to research the standards of the AKC and Ahiho they are very different the akc standard is very

open or in other words any dog with a curled tail can be a champion

Ahiho standard is very specific about everything so not all puppy's can be sold as champion lines as in the AKC its all about selling puppy's. I have had both

My AKC AKITAS dogs weren't Akitas My Ahiho dogs were I had some good ones

  • I like this colouration best lol~

  • かぁあ~いいwwww

  • I love your akita-inu! I think they are much more beautiful than the american breed.

  • that is not the original breed either, the american breed is the same, just americans focused on turnning the akita into a snowdog.

  • sure your not inbred to F*&k

  • The Akita Inu is the oringal breed, People came to Japan and bought or got an akita and brought it back to america and then breeded it iwth other dogs. The americon is differnt colored then the oringal japanese one. Like the japanese one dosent have a face mask but the americans do. And they look differnt.

  • Japanese akita's do have face masks, and infact the original akita's are typical black, blonde markings, racoon masked. and black fur, but now they focus on getting the breed blonde, short haired, and maskless. it's just what they are looking for

  • the american akitas have the mask, mine has ,was ment to hide there eyes ,and at the side have the fake eyes ,this was to fool the bears.

  • This is incorrect. You should say Japanese Akitas "used" to have black masks if you want to pursue this, but they do not have black masks now. The dog world has moved on and split them into two breeds and you are just confusing people.

  • No you idiot, they are both classified under Akita by the AKC, not two different breeds either, theres some proof, your just being stupid.

  • The AKC and CKC are the ONLY clubs who don't have two breeds so that is pretty selective isn't it! There is also now a club for "Japanese type" in America who are trying hard to get them split into two, it's just people like you who can't get their heads around the fact that their dogs are no longer called "Japanese".

It's the AKC and CKC against the rest of the world, including Japan. You have clearly never met a "Japanese Akita" or you would know they are as different as chalk and cheese!

  • The proof is in the pudding mate, I have owned, trained, and shown BOTH types for 20 years, they are completely different in, size, shape, temperament. It's like saying, "This Malamute is the same breed as that Siberian Husky!"

How much experience have you had? How many dogs have you got your hands on? How many Japanese breeders have you spoken to? How much have you shown dogs?

You have an American Akita and you just don't want to stop calling it Japanese. I've seen it 100 times!

  • No, it would not be at all like saying that, that would be like saying a Akita was the same breed also... Akita's are all the same.. they just carry different phenoms, and that's what's unique about them. I personally am against all the changes they are making, I like akita's for there combat smarts, and there hunt skills, but i don't want some pussy little housedog either now.

  • I notice you ignored my questions on how much experience you have with the breeds?

Like I said, go and meet some Japanese Akitas then come back and say that...if you haven't seen both you've got no right to comment.

And I'm not going to be talked down to by someone who doesn't know basic grammar. Pot calling kettle black mate saying I'm an idiot!

  • I haven't ignored your questions, i've answered that already in another video... There no different then a Choco lab/Black lab

  • Well that just says it all... LOL!

  • must of been stoned stupid there

  • he looks liek Hachi

  • thts a nice akita

  • Io ho un Akita inu femmina

si chiama Goreijou no getzuei, e' con noi da 4 anni e mezzo ed e' la piu' bella che ci sia.

  • beautiful dog!

  • I love Akitas!!!

  • are the americans as thick furred as the jap akitas

  • The Akita is Japanese. One of the reasons the Akita came here were because of American soldiers finding them on the streets of Japan after WWII. People could not afford to feed them so they were forced to give them up. Also their gorgeous fur was used to line the Japanese troops jackets in the winter. They almost became extinct. Thank the American soldiers for recognizing such a beautiful breed. I have a 13 month old Akita. Best dog ever hands down.

  • why are u holding the leash so high at the beginning u look like ur choking him, please be more careful with ur animals

  • he is so sweat.

  • I never noticed until now how different the American and Japanese Akita look.

  • you know why because there was no such animal as the American Akita it was just the Japanese Akita until American stole the breed and then re-name it

  • and re-bred it with several different breeds of dogs. The Akita Inu is the original, authentic Akita.

  • themicentertanier ure a dum ass this one is the real one the american is not

  • you really think so LOL LOL LOL LOL

  • Yes. The Akita was not created in America. The Akita Inu is a japanese breed, and the American Akita is a sad representation.

  • American Akita is the 1st japanese breed back in the days American never had any Akita breeds they took the 1st Akita from japan and rename it as an American Akita the other breed is just a cross breed Akita

  • any way i got 1 american akita and i love my dog but not japanese

  • @pausebreak0883 Japanese look more like Shibas.

  • yes they are extremely intelligent.

    and stubborn hehe

but they really are worth the effort imo.

you really need to know what you'll get when getting an akita

i did research for some months to know if the akita really was the dog i wanted and she is :-)

i know she's nuts but i really love my keiko(japanese for the loved one :D)

  • same here my ro done bare reserch lol

  • next the amercians will tell you they started breeding akitas

no offense but this is what an akita should look like.

    he/she is gorgeous.

i have my own japanese akita for 2.5/3months now.

she's hard to train and stubborn but it's all worth it .

she has the same colouringscheme as this one except she has a few black hairs on the back.

but she's lovely and that's what matters

  • My parents used to own several akitas when I was still a baby, but they told me that akita's are hard to train because they are highly intelligent and stubborn. They usually don't perform tasks unless they see the point in doing it, etc..

  • Gawjuss akita

  • akitas are very expensive i should now im around 3

  • I like the Japanese ones better, the American ones look a bit altered. It's true Akita's came from Japan as Bear Hunting dogs, they're hard to train so they're trained hardcore. Once you train them, sometimes they'll turn because of the harsh ways trained. So they need more positive reenforcement than most dogs, other than that, THIS Akita has stolen my heart. Beautiful dog!

  • Japanese akitas hardly look like American akitas anymore... I voted for the breed split! I love both types, they are the best dogs in the world :-)

  • So gorgeous!! This is the color I want! That akita is absolutely stunning! I have a black and white pinto but she needs a friend!

  • the akita is really a wonderfull dog! just like the american one! i think all the akitas is wonderfull dogs! the have a great personality and they are good to children, a good family dog and a friend forever, thats for sure! :) / emmelie from sweden

  • come on! it doesnt matter how the dogs look likes, the important thing to know is that it´s 2 different dogs. this one on the video is an "original" japanese akita inu! the real one! then later the americans wanted a bigger and moore "aggressive" dog, so they mixed an japanese akita inu with an mastiff, so its really not a "real" akita. the american akita is also a beauty! but just a bigger dog with a whole other personality, colours and look! i have a japanese akita myself, the same as this one!

  • Haha. That's silly. You can see plain as day the German Shepherd in American Akita. The Japanese Akita are much more Spitz like, like they should be!

The original dogs came from Japan, therefore the Japanese set the breed standard, and they say that the American Akita is not a true Akita. Their word goes since it has always been a rule that the dogs country of origin set the breed standard. American just ignore Japan.

  • There were a few original Japanese type Akita used by hunters which were gathered for breeding. They had a census of 30 pure dogs left after the war. Look at other breeds that came from the same areas, they all look Spitz like.

Are you saying that Japan are wrong in THEIR breed standard? It's their breed, they set the rules, and Japan say that American are not true Akita. They know it best, if the American was the real Akita they wouldn't have a breed standard that considers it totally wrong!

  • @JasonB747 Thank you! i live in DC, and ppl here think all akitas are Japanese akitas and i tell them that, that is wrong.

there's a diffference between american and japanese

  • Who fucking cares if an Akita is a PURE Japanese Akita or if its an American Akita?

You people sound absolutely ridiculous, "Akita Nazis" more like it.

So the American Akita is a mix of two dogs, Ok WHO FUCKING CARES? Is this absolutely terrible and a travesty of your overly defensive canine tastes?

Get fucking real,I have an American Akita and I love it to death, its the most loyal and loving dog I have ever had in my 25 year dog owning life.

  • I care if a Japanese Akita is pure, or if an American Akita is pure... they are two seperate breeds! They both have their own merits and both deserve respect.

People need to stop confusing the two and give each breed the respect they deserve.

  • Breeding two different types of dogs is not an issue, as long as no genetic disorders are inherited. In the end, it all falls on the Eye of the Beholder. I find both Akitas beautiful...each with a different quality..but beautiful nonetheless

  • Why are people so insistent on calling American Akitas ugly or a shame? Combining two breeds is not a bad thing, if done properly. Look at the Dobermann...it's a MIX...between Rottweilers, Greyhounds and Pinchers...and a lot of people love them!

  • I gotr from uhm.. well she's from holland-on-sea in essex, Shogutensi-Akitas

  • Nice! If Kai was your dogs sire then she's related to my boy, his mum (Manadeshi of Kyokujitsu) is Kai's sister! :D

  • Thank you, this is a proper japanese akita-inu, Kinda likr, the americans one are japanese akita's bred with bull mastiffs, this is a beautiful japanese akita, and there are just over 100 in the uk, i have one of them yay, lol

  • I have one too! :D I spent months and months looking for one, all I could find was American Akitas, I was so thrilled when I found him.

What breeder did your dog come from?

  • What's the difference between an American Akita and a Japenese one?

  • This is the real deal! American akitas are ugly. i mean come on mixing a mastif with the origional japanese akita. its a fucking insult, and a godamn shame.

  • This is a real Japanese Akita. It's such a shame to see the huge amount of people calling their American Akitas Japanese, the two are so different, they don't have a clue!

  • VERY true.. they are very different.. Glad for the breed split in UK... though I still appreciate the efforts from the main kennel who breeds the two together and does a great job and has fantastic stock(In USA i'm talking about)

  • i was born in japan i had 2 JAPANESE AKITAS they have to be trained right there very independent but loyal of the loyalist dogs......

  • And by the way, you insolent fool, The akita you're on about it american, has a black mask yes? Pure bred japanese akita's come in red and white, white orr brindle the longest line of akita being the japanese akita, the japanese used them in war when they were scarce for food they ate the akita's sending some away, the american akita's however are different, they are bred with japanese akita's and commonly a bull mastiff, try looking things up before posting silly remarks

  • were you talking to me?

  • Good info. I always wondering why the American Akita looked different. So its cross bred w/ a bullmastiff?

  • Ah, Finnally a pure bred Japanese Akita-Inu, And actually American akita's are from the us, most japanese akitas are in japan, 100 in the uk, i have one myself, a pure bred, they arent loyal tho lol, they do what they want to do

  • Wow.. it's amazing what ignorance.. people speak.. this is a purebred akita... they are 2 types of akitas American Type(what you mainly see in USA, UK, Australia) and Japanese Dog. This dog is a japanese type akita of WONDERFUL quality.

  • ah i see you know your akita! excellent, i hate the american akita it is an insult to the pure bread japanese akita. what do you think?

  • I enjoy and appreciate both TYPES of Akita

  • are you american?

  • I am American and I think its funny that you would hate on the dogs over here when we are the country of development

  • true but i hate the states im Canadian, but i also beleive that that is the states biggest downfall,as Japan has a unique culture all their own. you, well you have a half breed dog that is a very poor imatation of the true meaning of pride. american akita still suck! i stand by this

  • Canadian, go figure. My American Akita is bad ass. If i'm walking her and any stranger approaches she will stand in front of my 2 yr old daughter like a noble knight. The only thing that is a shame is Canada=)

  • I'd hate to say it, but - That doesn't look like an Akita. Either its breeding is very different from what I've seen and grown up with, or - It's certainly not an Akita. Nice, though - but does not look like one.

  • it is a PURE Akita dog! I've visited Akita prefecture in Japan to see Akita dog. They were huge and so smart. I think you meat "American Akita dog". they look so wild.

  • Beautiful dog.

  • what makes these dogs so dangerous is it they're nature or jaw power or what?, i dont understand where they're bad rep comes from

  • oh they were used to fight in japan they're japanese fighting dogs basically the same bad rep the pitbulls and staffys have just not as bad because it only happended in japan. but just like the terreriers they are lovely doggies if you treat them right

  • I've had 2 now, beautiful dogs :P

  • these look more foxy/husky type the ones we have in the Uk look a little different, never the less beautifull dog! lovly specimen lets just hope he doesn't eat it afterwards

  • chinese eat cat, dog. japan do not

  • I love how native Japanese Akitas have that husky-like look to them; white faces, colorful fur-coat, bushy tail, etc. Beautiful dogs.

  • Very Beautiful Akita!

I have two Akita, too :)

  • I agree, that Akita is one handsome dog!

  • I bet that Akita was thinking "Nanda? Kore-o ningen-wa tsumanei-dewa-nai!" That would translate as "What? This human isn't funny!" Meaning he probably doesn't like what he's being put through but he's doing it anyway for the camera.

  • a real japanese akita!!! cool
