has a parole board ever commuted a death sentence after listening to an inmate? & wheres the religion here, to turn the other cheek & forgiveness & all that guff? I thought that was the Mormon state?
The problem here is that, while Gardner may well have changed, the very nature of his crime denied his victims of this same privilege - they are still exactly the way they were the instant they were murdered. I'm glad they finally carried out justice in this case.
i think they shouldnt have killed him. he killed two people 12 years ago. 12 years is a long time to change. i mean he has a daughter. if he didnt change he would have still been killing between now and when he killed those people. i think the families of the victems are blinded by hate. if they looked at it from his side, i think they would change there mind. hes married and he has kids. that was just sad that they had to kill him!!!
@DetoRocks100 i agree when i was a teenager and in my early 20s i done some things that i now feel disgusted over i am now 34 and like this guy i made some very bad choices. ruling out psychopaths a person changes dramatically from the age of 21 to 35. they quite literally are two seperate minded individualls.
HAVE THE BALLS TO KILL HAVE IT WHEN YOU WALK INTO THE EXECUTION ROOM. THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU ITS ABOUT THE FAMILY GETTING THE MONSTER TO FEEL THE PAIN HE CAUSED. FEAR THE BULLET GO THROUGH YOU. HE KNEW IT TOO SO HE CHOOSE TO BE KILLED BY THE SAME METHOD
"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted." Galatians 6:1
he is right...he is a good example...HEY KIDS and other morons thinking of killing people....Don't do it or you'll end up in front of a firing squad too! Too many of these guys show thier true colors when faced with thier own demise...he's a coward and a cold blooded murderer...hopefully he will truely feel the fear and terror of knowing death is closing in...and think of his victims as they drape that hood over his face and line up the rifles. The world will be better without him
@danganbeg There are many things wrong with America, the death penalty is not one of them. Life cannot be an acceptable form of punishment for some. The ultimate sentence carried out on someone like Gardner needs to reflect the brutal nature of his crime. The death penalty is not revenge..it is not an eye for an eye, if it were this man would not be facing execution because the victims families do not wish him to be put to death Continued....
@danganbeg The death penalty, for us,is a punishment carried out on members of society who commit the most violent and barbaric crimes. Are there flaws in the death penalty? Absoulty, but people like Gardner are why it still exists. You show compassion to those who do not deserve it...to those who have forfeited thier right to live within our society...to those who expliot people like you to garner support for them when they deserve no support. His punishment is set, let him recieve it
@mission762008 ..you wrote "you show compassion to those who do not deserve it"..wow.and I never thought I'd meet or talk to God before I died..you are God..to have made such a bold statement..wtf is wrong with you.You wanna live by that thought you just shared? my friend, Heaven is a lonely place.cast that first stone Mr Perfect..small crime, big crime, white lie, big deceptive lie, etc.God shows mercy for all.I'm not saying I feel sorry for this man for I do not.but not my place to kill him.
@Jocosity70 Never said I was perfect..and probably just like you I'm far from it. But there are people in this world that you go to bat for, that you stand up for and fight for. This man is not one of them. The death penalty is reserved for the worst of the worst. It is not a sentence handed down lightly, nor should it be.
@mission762008 ..I'm sorry, I just do not feel it is our (our being you me and our Justice system) place to decide who lives and who dies..kill someone I love yeah my first instinct is to beat the crap out of you and hope you die..rage and instinct and revenge has no place in a "soceity"..if it did, our crime would be worse. Again I have no sad feelings for this guy..Can he change? who knows..but keephim locked up..why isn't that sufficiant? why isn't locked up for life enough?
@Jocosity70 Your man Ronnie had no problem deciding who would live or die. Too bad you didn't meet him. And of course you say had he killed someone in your family you'd want him executed, but someone else's family they should turn the other cheek. You and yours are more important than them and theirs. You are a funny guy pal.
@TrueNovice ..please read my whole post..I said yeah first instinct is to want to beat the crap out of him see him dead..BUT it solves nothing....don't quote unless you can do it properly....and again, so nice to meet someone else worthy of God's ability to judge..nice to meet you.
@Jocosity70 Sure it solves something. He won't be killing anyone now and there are no more appeals. No chance that a gullible parole board will release him after he claims to find religion. So that particular problem is solved and the case is concluded.
@Jocosity70 Man THINKS HE'S GOD! The justice system thinks they are God. Well, since they murder, they need the electric chair. It's only fair right? The law is, you murder, you get murdered. So yes, the death penalty is definitely deplorable. SMH
@Jocosity70 What this man did, clearly fell into the realm where the death penalty was an option, and while it is true that it is not your place or mine or any individuals to kill him, it is an option for the American Justice system as a whole to sentence him and carry it out. This crime was committed 25 years ago, and he has been given many chances to show the courts a reason why he should not be executed. In 25 years not one court on any level agreed with him,
@Jocosity70 So soon the state of Utah will put to death a man, and while it will never bring his victims back, nor will it probably be a relief to the families of the murdered, it will have carried out a punishment that was agreed upon many many times over. As for God, I'm a non-believer...but soon, in the minds and hearts of millions of people, he will stand before his creator, and recieve his ultimate jugdement...what happens in that realm is not for us to decide nor understand
@mission762008 ..yes soon he will be dead...I won't lose any sleep over it. trust me..but I also won't mark the "tick" off my board of "those who need todie"..I live in TX..who kills more than TX lol..they kill you here for jaywalking..my point was, what does his or anyone's execution settle? Revenge..pure and simple..As a non believer you stated you were; I'm not surprised at your feelings on the matter..I rather believe and be wrong, than not believe and find out I was wrong.
@Jocosity70 This is my last post, but you seem like a good person. Like you I do not relish in the fact he was put to death, despite my orginal post which was admittedly mean spirited. I believe that it's not the man being judged, but rather his actions. I also believe for some, thier crimes are so heinous and unfathomably cruel that a life sentence is not proper. I do not see execution as a deterent or revenge or "justice" for a victim. I simply see it as a punishment, that's all it is.
@mission762008 ..I enjoyed the banter mission..disagreements do not mean bad vs good..I always enjoy good banter so thank you for your thoughts..have a good night dear.
@XxchrisNj meh, most people don't think of their actions. one great example is obama. before the election everyone talked about how he is great because he makes a few good speeches, now everyone is moaning about how they didn't get what they promised. showing most people have no knowledge of economics. the first rule to economics is that for any system to be remotely successful a group of people will always have more than others. capitalist system is bad but not as bad as the leftist way.
@Shwayze024 whether or not murderers really deserve to be paroled is a totally different matter. some in fact are quite proud about it and even 20 or 30 years later they claim they would do it again if they ever had the chance, so yes there are some who most likely should never be released yet there are many crimes that people do that can be almost comparable that go almost unpunished such as severe cases of animal cruelty or aggravated torture resulting in permanent disability of the victim.
how can you feel sorry for someone, but still want him to get executed.. thats BS
