Im all for giving and trust me I do give. To local food drives, homeless people and others. When we moved when i was very young I remember my mom recieving foodstamps. My dad quickly found a job but my mom took about 7 months. My mom got a job at the school and has been there ever since. After she got the job the aid ended. This was late 80s, things have changed.

If you get rid of the minimum wage then companies will pay you nothing, and will charge more for their products forcing you to lease only, and they end up owning everything. The most irresponsible thing that a human can do is to bring a child into the world that threy know they can't feed. On a side note: my mother is 89 years old. She was one of 13 children born during the great depression. The things she went through would be unthinkable today. She has so many stories it could be an epic story like The Grapes of Wrath

Well the good thing is that where are people who would rather follow the "if you can help you should help because everyone feels hardship" despite being constantly bombarded with "What's in it for you? But if you want my opinion, once "we" allow illegals into the US, then they deserve every right. "We" should keep them out in the first place. If it where up to me. I'd Get rid of welfare, Deragulate the shit out of the economy (it's already an entangled mess of regulations that have very little logic to them), and get rid of the minimum wage standard. More jobs would be available as a result goods are cheaper to produce. People can move up faster. The whole pie is bigger and most ghettos disappear off the map.
Like this man charity is a far better substitute.

@tehatemachine Get rid of welfare in one swoop, and crime explodes. Deregulation is what allowed the banks to not have income verified, and led to something that only resembles the great depression. If you get rid of the minimum wage then companies will pay you nothing, and will charge more for their products forcing you to lease only, and they end up owning everything. No more ghettos......but lots and lots of tent cities. Not hating on your ideas, just offering a different angle on them.

And yes crime would spike for a period of time then would drop afterwords. but you have to remember, Welfare was a huge mistake to begin with. However because these programs are so bloated, and so many are dependent on them, we are kinda stuck with the issue for now. She had two little girls she needed to take care of alright? She never abused the system, she only used what she needed and she tried very hard to get off of it as soon as she could. The family helped whenever we could but guess what? She still had rough times. Don't make assumptions.
