I went to the same college as J Craig Venter and was very close with one of his former teachers. She told me very interesting things about him. I really admire him.
The more TedTalks (TedX, TedWomen, TedMed, etc.) that I watch, the more disappointed I become with the so-called leaders of industry. They seem to constantly rehash each others' ideas with slightly different spins or apparently conflicting opinions, despite the fact that in order to achieve what they have achieved, they stand on the shoulders of giants. Without trust funds, none of these people would have done anything with their lives.
"software building its own hardware " sounds like terminator 4 stuff..............and it came true just last year jajaja, this will power the 2nd industrial revolution or the end of the world.
@xaiomanga exactly !..we will in the not so distant future "grow" almost anything from almost nothing in a lab. in the future with nanotechnology people will "print" almost any product or material available.
So, eventually we could give ourselves traits of other species, or create entirely new ones? I've always said we should adapt ourselves to new environments instead of terraforming them to our needs: arctic fish antifreeze blood and synthetic ability to breathe carbon dioxide equals martian colonist. Of course, this makes me sound like a little kid, but, I don't see why this couldn't happen.
Just thinking of where such technologies might evolve into in the coming decades just reconfirms the notion that the pace at which technology is spreading in to more fields is beneficial to all the fiels jointly.
It is just so amazing to see the real world application of such technologies. What will they be able to do in 10, 20 or even 50 year?!
More and more is science-fiction becoming a reality.

Some people want young white females to mix with non-white males.
I made a one-minute video highlighting a very small sample of race-mixing advertisements.
I love white people, and I am opposed to race-mixing. But I do not hate non-whites.
If you click on my name “awhitesoul2012” highlighted in blue below this comment, you can watch my video.
Thanks.

When I was a kid, I always used to pretend I had a tail.
Imagine if it becomes possible one day!

Notice: he has failed for two years to meet his goal; alas, it may take two more to create ARTIFICIAL life.
I wish I could fail like that!
