Miss Betty, I just made these with my mother for our Christmas feast. The cornbread came out DELICIOUS... we had to sneak a taste before continuing the recipe :) It was so simple to make, but the flavor is delicious... The balls are in the freeze and we're going to pop them in the oven tomorrow afternoon.. Hoping you have a lovely Christmas :)
I've never heard of dressing balls before, but I think it's a good idea. ALSO, thanks for measuring the chopped onions in cups. I hate it when a recipe calls for 1 chopped onion. What IS 1 chopped onion? Could be a half cup, could be 2 cups. I think I'll make this recipe this year, and I'll let you know how we like it.
Thank you for your beautiful presentation.. You should have your own cooking show...The nicest part of it is your kindness and genuine smile throughout your demonstration....what a doll...
This is amazing, betty! You've really outdone yourself. I'm totally going to do this and wow my family for thanksgiving. I've got a question, though.... could a person (not me because i would never, ever use anything from a box... that's sarcasm, just in case u dont recognize it, lol!) use a boxed stuffing mix, such as stove top, to make these balls? =)
@IanzGurrl Thanks for your sweet comment! Yes, you may make stuffing balls from stovetop stuffing mix. Just add the liquid a little at a time, and see if the ball holds together.
Whaddya i say dear Betty, you're always innovating, scooped out dressing is fine, but here, the dressing balls are exact individual portions,...no guests frettin' that so and so got more dressin' than they did, you're all brains and great taste!! Thumbs up to ya dear Betty and also to Rick, thankin' ya all for sharin'!! = )
This would be a very nice recipe to make if you live near a homeless shelter, or place where they feed many people. (A family respite near a hospital?) iWe all have so much at this time of the year; something like this would be a great "drop off" for those with less than ourselves. It will hold, it seems filling and nice. Could even be dropped off frozen for them to heat when needed.
I like this recipe. and love seeing you use generic brands on your show. Mayny may not know, but I worked for a certain company that made canned products for many brand and generic foods, the same exact thing went into both cans the only diference was the label and ofcourse the retail price. People think that the cheeper something is the worse it is but if you pay attention to certain store brands you will find that the product is much better than its brand name equivalent.
Hey Betty! These look good. I'm making your Yeast Potato Rolls for an event on Saturday night. I've baked them before and they were a hit. Thanks for all the wonderful recipes and tips :)
People, especially us Southerners, are very particular about their dressing...I look forward to my mom's every year. She adds sausage seasoning for a little kick, but I have to tell her not too spicy! Ha! This looks great Betty as always :)
Oh my. Miss Betty, those are absolutely beautiful! So moist-looking. My Mom's dressing is famous in this family. She uses homemade biscuits and cornbread as her base--similar to yours...and LOTS of cream of chicken and chicken broth, eggs (both cooked and non), and chopped onion. I bet they'd be great as balls! [lol]...although maybe a bit more of a pain to make, lol. Thanks for another great recipe! :)
Thank you for getting back to me. I just downloaded both of your ebooks from lulu.com. I am looking forward to going over them this week end. The VETERAN305 code you shared with me was not accepted. No worries, I went ahead and bought them anyway! Thanks for all the great recipes.
I love your recipes and I also love the fact that you don't use name brand products. I love the Kroger products you use and that's pretty much what I use too. I've tried a couple of your meals and of course I did them wrong, but they were still tasty. I will keep trying until I get them right. :)
@princessmeems I have published two cookbooks, and they are available at lulu.com. Just go to that website and search for bettyskitchen. They are on sale 20% off today only with the code: VETERAN305.
this seems like a neat idea for a party. You know i was orginally thinking you were going to batter and deep fry the balls when you were done. lol! I guess that is the Paula Dean in me. lol!
My mama made dressing balls. I'm originally from West Virginia. I forgot all about dressing balls. I musts share this recipe with my sisters and brothers. Thanks for bringing back such a pleasant memory of "our mama". Happy Thanksgiving.
I love you and your videos!! You make the holidays so much more special with your recipes. I can't wait to try this recipe for Thanksgiving!! What a fun way to serve dressing! Thanks so much for the idea!! And a Very Happy Thanksgiving To You and Your Family!!! =)
This is exactly what I was snooping your channel looking for today. I wanted some dishes that I could prepare ahead of time and this will work perfectly! Thanks Betty :)
Oh these looks really good Betty. I have never had a stuffing ball ever - what a wonderful idea. I have seen them before in magazines and cookbook, but never tasted them or made them. They look really yummy.
@xtraluv4u I buy most of my clothes online at Newport-News. They have great clearance sales, I am able to find coupon codes on the internet for merchandise and shipping.
