hey i use the G track samson mic its pretty good but what can i do to make it sound better i dont have a lot of money so should i get a new sound card do you think? and i have filters on the front and back also
And very last, Be sure to use closed headphones this would reduce spill from the Cans into the mic! Also looking at the frequency response for the mic, will give you a rough idea in which areas in the frequency bandwidth will be boosted or cut!
If your recording different vocalist, I would recommend trying 4 different vocal mics, patch them into your console or audio interface and A / B the sounds that's how you determine which is best for that vocalist! The Bluebird is a Cardioid condenser mic so be careful on how far away you shift the mic away from the VOX. Also very important to ask the vocalist if they naturally sing with there head up or down, don't set the position to what you like, it's for the vocalist.
hey can someone tell me if im using a preamp to do my vocals can i connect the preamp DIRECTLY into the pc or do i need to connect it into some kinda external audio interface??? and yes i am a newbie... :P
@sarimfarooqui - You'll need a Audio Interface or a Pro Tools Mbox or if your sound card is good enough there might be a way to connect it too that... But keep in mind what type of output sock you have, most preamps would have a XLR connector and well most sound cards don't have XLR inputs... It is possible to have an XLR to TRS connector cable but wouldn't recommend it!
aye bro please answer back what kind of headphones do you use? i REALY need a good pair of headphones that dont leak nd you know wut ur doing nd those headphones look good what type of headphones are those that you use??? please reply bro thank you
@2l0kit04 - Sennheiser HD 280 they are a closed type headphone and have been rated in SOS as one of the best closed headphones to mix in so if it's good enough for that it's good enough for monitoring!
Good tutorial make sure for the people whos watching the condensor mic requires phantom power so make sure your interface has phantom power or you want get any sound from you mic
@ROBLO08WAM1 - I can answer that... A sound card is a card that plugs straight into your PCI card slot, sound cards usually don't have many line inputs or mic inputs. As an external interface has the capability of more line inputs, Mic inputs has some control features over levels. Most have phantom power and even midi inputs... It's really more suited to the music audio side of things as the sound card is more towards the gaming side of things!
what kind of headphones are those???excatly. and do they the leak at all where the microphone picks it up... because i need some heapdhones that dont leak at all.
It wouldn't sound as good becouse ur eq'ing channel by channel on the mixer and then adding another eq for the whole entire thing(on ur p.c) but if u decide to do it that way...I recomend you use compresors on the mixer couse once the sound gets to the pc u can only do so much...and compress in general everything.not each mic individually
hey i was wondering i you were micing drums could you plug your drums into a soundboard then a 1/4 inch from the soundboard into your sound card.or what ever then into your computer
well i am using dynamic mic and i get perfect sound and i made a perfect song and it is the same quality when i used condenser mic.but good video.tnx!
Quick question, all condenser mics needs +48v phantom power. does your soundcard(firebox/duet) comes with phantom power? pls reply asap... thank you n God bless...
@MysteriosDI - It really helps if you get some training after all it is an art if everyone could do it what would be special about it?? But there is programs around like melodyn which isn't easy to use does take alot of research on harmonics and so forth. But many popular singers (POP) are tuned with melodyn. And if your doing rock mate, bodging your vocals to sound better than they really are is frowned a pound specially if you intend of releasing it to the public.
Hey dave I was wondering if the bluebird would be good for rapping vocals. Also, what recording program do you use to record your vocal. Also what program do you recommend to buy to record vocals in the price range of $200-$400? If you can reply soon that would be great. Thanks dave.
@manifesto3 - upto $400 Cubase is the popular choice... depends on how many channel mic inputs you need! If it's just for vocals then you can get Pro Tool Mbox mini that can do that and pro tools in an industry standard recording software/hardware Used by professionals. But before you get pro tools check to see if your system specs meet pro tools mainly with PC computers.
helllllllllla thanks You For help me to let me make my Home studi o now is work good that b-coz You thank and more thank......can we be friend man hahah if u wanna?
How do you record yourself while you are in the booth. I how to you control how to start stop record erase rewind fast-forward while you are in the booth by yourself. Could you send me the answer in a youtube message. THANKS
i have an engineer that records me...but if you solo then put the mic near the computer...(Check out Trey Songz video "Gotta Make It" youll see him do this...do it like that
@mtjproducer08 - depends on what recording device your using... But if it was software/hardware based like pro tools you can set a pre roll so it will have a bit of a count in before the music plays and before you record. But always recommend someone else to be at the control desk! Can't cut sound engineers like me outta the job :P
yea its a pretty good mic depending on wat ur using it for. That was my first mic...I loved it but it was a little harsh on my vocals for singin R&B...so i got a sweeter sounding one for that purpose. But yea the AKG is a pro mic and will get u there bruh!
@willschollar - All depends on what sound you want to get! In terms of it being a good mic well the self noise of the mic is not too bad and it's pretty good So if I was to consider if a mic was good or not that's one thing the other is the frequency response. Also I can take your mic into 50 different size/shaped rooms they they'll all sound different. So it's not just all about the mic, Acoustics play a massive part!!
hmmm yes...The duets converters are better. Of higher quality. I have both and have recored with both and prefer the duets pres over the firebox...However, they both give you a clean recording. But the duet is just AWESOME! its limited in its i/o's though...
yeh i thought this was the case. i couldnt afford the duet so i went with the profire 610. its in the same price range as the firebox but slightly better (so im told)
still, wish i could have got the duet and as id only be recording one mic the i/o problem on the duet wouldnt even matter. i think il ask santa for one lol
hey dude, you know they extention cable, do you think you could use that for a mic so i can put it in the oter room and use it for guitar and stuff from my mixer? great vid btw
I got the blue bird to shits great but I got mine upside down...

the pop filter stops all your spit and puff sounds from going into your mic

if you say Pop.
It will not POPPPPP!...

It stops your breath hitting the mic. Especially useful on words like push, booth etc anything that creates a blast of air when you say/sing it.
