Has to be one of the greatest moments in Rock and Roll history. Who could pull this off. If it was some extreme band you wouldn't think to much of it...but it is the legend himself. I'm not sure where you heard this urban myth, but it's completely wrong. This was a 1981 New Years Eve gig, in New York City. Not a movie. The only actual footage that exists of the entire concert is this bit, which was captured by a reporter.

The fan in question was arrested, as was Keith Richards. The fan spent days in prison, there was a court case, and he got a huge fine for it.

In fact, Keith Richards actually bailed the guy out, and paid his fine for him, as he felt so guilty for hitting him. Said in an interview, years later, that the guy was quite poor, and had to come up with $500 in bail money, and a further $2000 in fines, so he just paid it for him as a good will gesture.
