Its great that you guys are interested in this stuff, but shake tables are nothing new- whats great is the size of this particular one. And as awesome as this stuff is (believe me I DO think this stuff is awesome as I am a 3rd Year Civil Engineering Major hoping to do research in seismic engineering), we need to surpass technical and social barriers to address places like Haiti. We HAVE the technology - but do they have the money, resources, political support - thats the issue.

You wouldn't see buildings jump, unless you see buildings that have been uprooted. But that is not the case, this test is to recreate an event as a wave(all earthquakes and tremors are basically just seismic waves in response to tension or stress).
