  • I know the last two lines at the end are: "Let's resolve to live in the manner God planned. There is no God but God."

  • I'll end the argument here and now. Christians trace their heritage to Abraham, Islam heritage back to Ishmel Anagram's son by hss second wife. GOD = ALLAH

  • Aaron Weiss is a modern-day prophet. He does remarkable things with words and somehow knows how to get under my skin. When I listen all doubts are erased from my mind. His music and energy is inspired by something powerful, something more than religion and sermons, baptisms and pilgrimages. And whatever that power may be, I know its real because I can feel it every time I listen to mewithoutYou. This stuff is personal, it effects us all in different ways, so it's pointless to argue about it.

  • i'm arabic and at the end he is not speaking arabic , it might be indian , pakistani or something like that

  • They have said themselves that they are not a "Christian" band Frontyard. And No Fishfry, his lyrics are most absolutely not explicitly christan...at all. Many of his lyrics come from Sufi teachings, influences from metaphysical poet John Donne and even Kurt Vonnegut. Keep your religion off of other people's well intended lyrics. You dont "win" anything for having a band on your "god"s side TEAPARTY. you, indeed, are the confused one. Do some research.

  • Even though I'm leaning towards thinking this song was written about allah, I dont mind listening to it because it is a beautiful love song no matter who its directed to.

  • so fucking good!~

  • Aaron and his brother were raised in a Sufi/Jewish household.. odd..

  • Aaron, although very strongly practices Christianity, seems to follow all morals and advisories of all religions. From my point of view, he considers all Gods of all the religions one god.

  • @FrontyardFlatground

What would lead you to think that? All of his lyrics are explicitly Christian...

  • @fishfry1991 His interviews. He doesnt directly say it, but its what I gather. I can't make and specific examples, sorry!

  • @FrontyardFlatground I don't think that at all, he says stuff like, "God is my only hope". From what I've seen, he never teaches universalism, which is and of itself is a logical fallacy.

  • @FrontyardFlatground

    ....they are the same God.

  • Regarding the ending Arabic lyrics, I can only make out the first line and the last 2 lines. The second was a little unclear to me. The first line means "every thought is a thought of You,". I couldnt make out the second line. The third line means,"Come to the Success, Prayer has begun." The last line means "Truth: There is no god but God."

The last 2 are phrases almost every Muslim knows since they are said everyday at prayer.

  • god is good, thanks for ears and mewithoutyou

  • thumbs up if this is your favorite song on the album!

  • hey guize.... allah yaweh jehovah... same god different name. same abrahamic traditions. jus sayin. one faith = one faith, none of you are better than another. lets all embrace our own faiths, focus on our own beliefs, and allow others to differ if they may.

  • Sorry for throwing my equally unimportant opinion into this crapfest of arguing, but if someone says that they are a Christian then they are saying that they follow and worship the God Yahweh, not Allah. You will never in your life hear a Muslim claim to worship Yahweh, because the teachings and the entities are not one and the same. I believe there is a being called Allah, and as a christian i will never praise his name, sorry if that's 'close-minded' of me. Great music though((:

  • @ZeppelinForever9 in Arabic Allah simply means The God...its the only word for any kind of god

  • @ZeppelinForever9 If you're a Christian, you CAN'T believe in a being called Allah, or else Yahweh Himself is a liar, because in His Word He says "I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God.." - Isa. 45:5 and "Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: 'I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.'" - Isa. 44:6. Either Yahweh is true and only He, in His Triune nature, exists, or everything the Bible says is a lie.

  • @MyBelovedIsJesus well if you claim that the bible speaks of no spiritual beings besides the LORD you are illiterate. Not other Gods, but other spirits/angles/demons (eh hem, SATAN??) sound familiar?

  • @MyBelovedIsJesus A Christian can believe in Allah, *but only insofar as Allah and Yahweh are identical, as the Morning Star and the Evening Star are identical*.

The Koran may attribute to God qualities which are not attributed to God by the Scriptures, and vice versa, but this doesn't nec mean that they are speaking of different entities: it may simply mean that one of the texts is mistaken insofar as it contradicts the other (which is my view).

  • @MyBelovedIsJesus Allah is just an Arabic WORD for God. So if you said the word 'God' in French, you're not referring to God? Just a small opinion, I believe that Christians and Muslims are worshiping the same being. I always wondered why Christians worshipped Jesus and not God, Himself. Until I came to realise about the Holy Trinity, and it kinda made sense. Other than that, they are more the less the same.

  • Allah just means God in Arabic. If you were an Arab Christian you would still call God Allah.

  • r they brittish

  • no need for religous bulshit when we're with you :)

  • i dont get it

  • I practically yell this song in the4 shower :)

  • (:

  • they've come a LOOOOOONG way

  • mewithoutYou is not Muslim, they are Christian... He is speaking in Arabic at the end and 'Allah' happens to be the word for 'God' in the Arabic language...

for all those confused about the bands roots...

  • @HardcoreTeaParties

la illaha illAllah is a direct quote from the Quran though. It's almost exclusively only said when referring to Islam. Infact, saying it is one of the requirements of becoming a Muslim.

it's slightly offensive to recite the line in the Quran that converts you to a Islam and not be muslim dont you think? It's not unlike getting baptized because you have nothing better to do on a sunday evening and not consider yourself a Catholic/Orthodox/Presb./etc Christian afterwards

  • @HardcoreTeaParties oh ok ,thanks for clearing that up

  • @HardcoreTeaParties Yes but don't forget much of Aaron's writing is influenced from Islamic writings and part of his roots are Sufi parents. G-d bless.

  • @HardcoreTeaParties lol. ok, tell that to Aaron. "Haqq: La illaha il Allah!" Truth: there is no God but God." that isn't exactly out of the New Testament, amigo.

  • @HardcoreTeaParties aaron weiss was raised Sufi muslim by his parents for a time but they converted to christianity i think that's where the confusion comes from.

  • I seriously can't stand this crap. Peace.

  • I had the great privelege of meeting Aaron Weiss and getting to talk to him about his music after a show in Philly one time. He writes his music about what he believes. It is simply an expression of his experiences and lessons that he has learned in his life. He has songs about how different religions should just accept eachother because they all teach the same lessons (The Sun and the Moon which is about christianity and Islam) The songs on this album are stories that teach lessons.

  • mmmmm

  • this is a worship song. still cool

  • This music grows on you like a fungus. Beautiful & strange

  • @nosmailliwydocbocaj their songs are not old school

  • @nosmailliwydocbocaj U feeling sick? in other song of mewithoutYou u posted that they make music which will be cursed by your,,God'' and now u like them, make some sense plz

  • I love how if you don't listen carefully, this song seems to be a love song. Then when you listen more carefully, you realize it is a worship song. Then you realize that doesn't make it any less a love song. : )

  • allah is arabic for GOD. christians arabs use the word allah when speaking about or praising jesus. this is coming from a native arabic speaker with arab friends and family of different religions. not everything is black and white. get out more lol.

  • @deebop666 They indeed are a christian band. :)

  • I'm an atheist to the grave, but I can appreciate that however religious, this is beautiful music. Don't hate!

  • @IfThisFailsOfficial You and me both, brother.

  • @chrushead dont hate

  • @chrushead You're an embarrassment to atheists.

  • Does anyone else think this sounds like The Office?

  • @RICbass78 dood i did right when i heard the intro!!!

  • why would anyone dislike this song? its beautiful

  • I'll be honest I have no idea what I believe in with religion but this band is amazing! I love the symbolism in their songs!

  • Great use of God given talent

Jesus is coming back soon for us!

  • I love this song, but I have no idea what he's saying at the end.. but it is very catchy.

  • @SingerTina He bassicly repeats himself and the last line is "Truth: There is no god but God." very good song and band :)

  • @IpwnUa11 Wow thats awesome, so this basically a christian band?!

  • @SingerTina Yes they are :) There not like most Christian bands in the sense that the singer uses a ton of metaphors to give praise to God.

  • @SingerTina every thought is a thought of you

never concerned about what we should be

Lets resolve to live in the manner God planned

there is no God but God

    c:

  • @stopcallingmegothic Thank you!

  • i'm always surprised about the lack of culture from you american people...

and who cares if they are religious or not... seriously...

  • @ValJesternity

I'm always surprised by the vast generalizations and stereotypes from non-Americans like you.

Just listen to the music and don't bash an entire country, especially when the band is from that country.

  • ur all retarded, self righteous jack asses. appreciate the art that this band created. their beliefs should be no business of yours

  • people do realize they're an indie band and really don't have religious affiliation?

  • 'every thought a thought of you' translates to 'sacrifice a lamb' in noobinese

  • interesting

  • Wow...

This song has really sunk in my soul and gave me the answer I needed. That doesn't happen much haha.

  • @Brian12327 not criticizing but is it by any chance

    ~Farida at NH

  • christian band christian song,

    the guys are white.

prolly not islamic come on now fellahs.

  • @burpcore1

actually the guy who writes the lyrics'

father is a jew and his mother was a arab muslim

but their family was converted to Christianity

  • They're Christian not muslim

Google - Mewithoutyou islam, first link

  • "kul-anaya fikr minh ka abadan ahatmam enna ajab hayyaalal falal qad qamadis alah Haqq: la illaha il Allah" means "every thought is a thought of You never concerned about what we should be let's resolve to live in the manner God planned there is no god but God

  • Is he singing in Arabic at the end? That"s what my older brother told me..

  • @XoQtionerFilms Yes, he is.

  • yes, yes he is

  • The band has strong beliefs in Islam ... which is strage that they are signed to Tooth & Nail as they are a strict christian label.

  • they're christian

  • its not that weird. Islam and CHristianty and pretty similar

  • @xXLeDrewLAmourXx they are in the Chirstian faith Allah is a name used in Judaism, Christianity and Islam

  • @xXLeDrewLAmourXx to be more direct its Sufi that has influenced them.

  • @RedFiveO sufi = islam -_-

  • in the background towards the end he sings 'la ilaha ila allah' in arabic which means 'there is no god but allah'.

    beautiful!

  • @pwnatard La ilaha ila Allah is part of the Shahadah, the Islamic proclaimation of faith. It is beautiful =)

  • @pwnatard It's funny that they're Christian band. The lead singer's dad was a Muslims and his mom a Jew, but because of the grace of Christ he's a Christian so... But you probably already knew that lol.

  • @indeed478 isn't that great? it's such a beautiful story (;

  • @pwnatard It actually means "There no other god but One God" and Aaron is talking about the christian God.

  • @MrCodySheddy The Christian God is the Muslim God is the Hebrew God. Get off your high horse and realize that we all worship the same God.

  • @pwnatard FAlse allah translates into GOd

  • @pwnatard i doubt this considering they say everysong in praise of you

  • @chesterjacob305 are you fuckin retarded? do you know what allah is?

  • @pwnatard why is that beautiful?

  • @RSArick - i was wondering the same thing. but meh, you should know what you're getting into when you listen to this band. they're christians. and i'm not going to pull a christian move and judge them just for that. they're a great band, regardless of what they sing about. i love alkaline trio and they're satanists. good music is good music.

  • @ToriiHunterFan they're islamic derp

  • @chokedonpride - pffftbbtbtbffft.....okay buddy.

  • @ToriiHunterFan he's not lying, they are actually muslim haha. suffi muslim, i think thats what its called. peace

  • @slowpokecity - that's funny. numerous interviews prove otherwise, but whatever. it's sad we live in a world where information is so readily available, and yet people make less effort than they ever have to obtain it.

  • @pwnatard but if somebody says there is no God but the one of the Bible they are suddenly offended.. haha, but not if its another definition... .obviously in this context its just talking about having one God but still.

  • @pwnatard : what does the last paragraph mean?

  • WTF is up with the anotations?

  • NightManiacs,

to tell you the truth I'm not really sure. I went into annotations editor and deleted all of them and saved and it still does it.

    Sorry for the inconvience.

    Thanks,

    brian12327

  • oh wow you're nice

    no problem man, its cool

  • i fixed the annotation problem.

  • sufi song...i love it.

  • Lovers this song ^-^

  • good song

  • good song

  • Do you really all have to start a huge conversation over a song on youtube? Shut up and just listen to it. Seriously :/

  • well said m8

  • Oh how humorous, you would think that the music choice of the devout atheist would be centered around their ideals. Its always a wonder to know what brings them around faith based music. Oh yes and then have the audacity to start ideal bashing.I guess starting these type debates satisfies your 'intellectual' egos.

  • ZinfinityX,

Not everyone closes their minds to the ideas and beliefs of others. I am an atheist yet I still enjoy listening to the music of religious people. I find it heartening that some people are still so devout and it's undeniable that most good music comes from religion or religious people. I'm not condoning his starting any arguments but you have no right to judge him because of the music he listens to. Also, if you wish to understand gravity you can simply open a 3rd grade textbook.

  • Hi Wiz

Sort of chuckling on the inside since I wrote that comment almost a month ago.

Anyhow, I know now why atheists listen to religious music (from your perspective at least). Isn't it senseless to argue about the genre's origin? Should not you, the atheist, expect to find religious people around religious music? I am unclear on where I was judgemental (and on a personal stance, I have every right: public forum, free will, etc.), however on the stance of reason where am I flawed?

  • I notice that but I just saw it today.

I don't see why only religious people should be expected to listen to religious music. That's similar to expecting only religious people to read religious books. If non-religious people did not look into religious music, literature, traditions etc. they would never convert. Your statement implied that he (being an atheist) he should not be anywhere near religion which I find to be judgemental. And yes you do have the right.

  • I understand if you don't want to respond. I don't understand why non religious people would want to look into religious material unless they want to be converted...? If I was an atheist, I wouldn't want anything to do with religion (nor do I now). In my defense I didn't imply that he shouldn't listen to faith music, thats none of my business. However, I don't think he should bash any faith or religions; especially when the matter (music) pertains to it (which equates to troll status).

  • Anyway, I don't have the energy really to continue this discussion so I probably won't reply again :\

I shouldn't have said anything but I was tired and not in my right mind.

  • Absolutely love this song!

  • i think this is my favorite off the new album...

good job on the new album guys...

  • is that chant hebrew? what language is it?

  • arabic I think

  • It's Arabic.

  • arabic

  • translation

Every thought is a thought of You

Never concerned about what we should be

Lets resolve to live in the manner God planned

Truth: There is no god but God

  • Great song. Does anyone know what the lyrics at the end of this song mean?

    "kul-anaya fikr minh ka

    abadan ahatmam enna ajab

    hayyaalal falal qad qamadis alah"

  • O hai! I know you!

    It means:

Every thought is a thought of you

Never concerned about what we should be

Lets resolve to live in the manner God planned

    (from google)

  • Thanks. I noes u too!

    Hope things get un-hard.

  • wow i want to say thnks to

    lordofthevultures

youve kinda made me see this music in a different way, cuz i was never able to relate to it and the same with as cities burn, but your right thnks alot :D

    xoxoxox

  • There needn't be a label on what they believe in... Just because mewithoutYou sings about God, and Jesus, and so on and so forth, doesn't mean you can't enjoy/relate to their music. Music is not always about what the artist is trying to tell you, but what you find in it. For example, I'm not sure I believe in God, but I still find meaning in their songs.

The message isn't always literal... It's about looking deeper and pulling out your own.

    Rant over!

  • I dont relate this song to a god, but to my wonderful girl :)

  • Brother Dylan, you're looking at it through the wrong lenses. God to you may not exist, but the idea of Truth, Prosperity and Righteousness should be held in high regard by anyone with the love of humanity. So, perhaps you and Aaron are looking for the same thing and in this song he is simply celebrating life and Creation, regardless of whether there is a God or not, this song should be enjoyed by anyone.

    Peace be with you, brother.

  • Well said.

  • it's not that the song having a relation to christianity is necessarily a bad thing, it's just that most people, when they listen to music, they like it to relate to them. a song about the christian god can on truely be appreciated by christians. thats why people who choose other religions, such as agnosticism and atheism, find it frustrating to find a song where everything is great except that they can't relate to it.

beautiful song, wish i could relate to it.

  • sounds like you need to listen to more MWY. Aaron's lyrics are hardly 100% praise songs...

  • atheism isn't a religion

  • yes it is it cant be proven. Its a faith.

  • It's a LACK of faith. It isn't a religion, just like not-collecting-stamps isn't a hobby, and not-blond isn't a hair color.

  • stamp collecting and blond isnt a good analogy. Its more of "You either have this worldview or you have this one" type of thing. Not having a faith in any religion is also a religion because it's supported by beliefs, just like a faith ^.^

  • I don't buy it. Atheism has no doctrines, it has no commandments, no gods, no sacred texts. If you think atheism is supported by blind faith you fundamentally misunderstand rationalism and the scientific method.

  • No it is just that ^^. How can you use what is in the system to say there is nothing outside of the system? How can the computer program say there is nothing else besides the computer?

  • science historically hasnt been that unbiased. I say this as a black dude

  • What's the scientific method? don't you need your senses to believe in that? The best kept secret in that whole debate is that any belief beyond the belief in the self and ONLY the self requires faith, has unwritten doctrine and commandments, is religious. Society is a religion, country is a religion, science is a religion. The premise of rationalism makes a serious error in that it underestimates the importance of belief in the attainment of knowledge.

  • @jufjansties

This is nonsense. Why it is true to say any statement about the world is a "leap of faith" (like trusting our senses), to say that all "leaps of faith" have the same probability to be true is just silly. Observable phenomenon tested through the scientific method (like gravity) do not have the same probability to be true as me saying that I am Genghis Kahn reincarnated.

  • Comment removed

  • Senses and math don't require faith. They are universal, OBJECTIVE observations about the observed world. We might all be suffering from a delusion, but since this delusion is universal, it is objectively true to all of us. These scientific observations have allowed engineers to create the computer in front of you. Are you saying that it takes just as much faith to say "I am using a computer" as "I am Genghis Khan reincarnated." No, and your equation of the two is just silly.

  • explain gravity

  • Comment removed

  • The word Atheism is in itself a doctrine. The conclusion that there is no God is a belief based on evidence. To even say the word atheist and have a real meaning applied to it indicates a teaching (doctrine). There is no such thing as a belief, even if it chooses to not believe in God, that has no doctrine or way of understanding it. The second part of your statement proves this to be true. Atheism is not a "blind faith" because it uses "rationalism and the scientific method"

  • Comment removed

  • 'Well said' doesn't mean altogether that much when the user says there's no such thing as a belief.

  • crap! i read that completely wrong... what an idiot (i am) secondly... that person

  • I don't know how this song is so catchy but it is. I like Nice and Blue Part 2 and that one is really catchy but this song seems like it wouldn't be that catchy yet it is.

  • i agree. ive fallin in love with nice and blue part 2

  • yeah dude, its catchy...i feel like we should meet and start a band...you seem cool...

  • i could've sworn i saw mudkipz around here somewhere... S:|

  • what a great song, i am still getting used to the NEW mewithoutYOU, with aaron singing, rather than speaking, but i fuckin love this song. :D

  • great music, wonderful lyrics, great truth, melting hearts - what more do we want? :-)

  • lol, just pretend he's being sarcastic.
