shittiest redesign in the history of British TV. It is also interesting that since this episode was broadcast, the shitty colours haven't appeared. In Pandorica opens it had the most sensibly coloured daleks out of the five, in the big bang it was made of stone and in TWORS there was a dalek covered in grey clingfilm. They are trying to make us forget that the stupid colour scheme ever existed.

Yes, the first daleks that DON'T say exterminate for 10 hours before trying to shoot the doctor and realizing that he's not been there for about 9 hours 59 minutes. When they got a chance to they tried to shoot him.
Maybe when we see them again maybe they wont have the bright lit colors on them maybe they will get rusted or some nice dark colors instead the Mighty Rainbow colors or maybe they will bring back the Special Weapons Daleks or something else but once they get rid of the bright colors i bet everyone will think these guys are the bomb! Who knows?
I'm sorry - I've loved the Daleks since I was a boy and the new FATTIES look crap. Sorry but several months after they 1st appeared I still don't like them. If these are the new team bring back the old team.

I think BMW did a better job of restyling the new MINI than did the BBC (etc) with the new Daleks. Perhaps they should have consulted BMW first ?
@mikeismad61 I'm not sure something is better than nothing where the daleks are concerned as these daleks could've been much better. It took 4 people including Moffat to design them. I'm not a fan of Moffat's writing style anyway, most of it is just recycled from other shows and his own tired ideas. I find DW light hearted entertainment that lacks depth most of the time. A good example when the doctor had just minutes to live and he wasted some of that changing into that suit.

New Daleks, the good: huge fender reminiscent of the 60s, taller and more imposing, mid-section design also reminiscent of the 60s, some nice colours, impressive guns. The bad: that stupid "hump" on their back, a few too many colour classes, the eystick's a little dodgy. Other than that, pretty good daleks, but they lack the warlike feel of the previous daleks and look a bit more like toys than previous incarnations
bigger doesnt mean better and the new daleks have proved that size doesnt matter. They may be big but does that take away from the fact that they are disproportionate, plastic coloured, hunchedbacked dapol toys? I do like the idea of big daleks but not with this design. I am used to it and i dont hate them but they arent right!
Bear in mind that the dalek stories featuring these would have to occur later in the dalek's timeline; given the nature of the show, we could potentially still see any of the older designs make a comeback. Personally, I love the new daleks, and thieir simpler design without all the slats and bolts fits the storyline of a pure Dalek, not one mass produced for warfare like the 2005 ones, but I'd still like to see the really old ones make a comeback (with davros, of course...)

The problem with these new ones is the fact that they ARE bigger. Being a bit larger than the average mere humanoid makes it very obvious that there is one of these inside them. But I always felt that being a little smaller than a person made them feel more alive and real to me. This is not a criticism I have just invented for the sake of hating something new. I always felt the same about the movie daleks for the same reason. The new 'old' daleks are perfect.
Im just glad that Daleks are still apart of the Dr Who saga,although im on neutral ground over the new appearance, i do believe there is a good element of retro in the redesign, which works fine for me.

Many of you will be pleased to hear that Moffat plans to use BOTH kinds of Daleks. His and the Time War ones. So you all have nothing to worry about, the normal kind will return as well.
I quite like them, I rekon they will be old fashioned in the sense that they will act like the 1960's daleks in that they dont need a leader (such as davros). Yet they are more advanced then any dalek we have seen so far - I like the fact that they look more "other worldy". Granted was a shock at the time but I think once we see them in action a bit more then the design will stick. Like the 1960s refernce and the colour coding being brought back.

The story "Genesis of the Daleks" shows the first Daleks ever created and they look like the 2005-2009 Daleks, but grey and with less detail.
The new 2010 Daleks are meant to be created by the Daleks on Skaro in case they ever came near extinction.

Respond to this video...dont get me wrong I do think they do look a little bit off with the obesed back on the rear of the cases. but the top half sort of resembles from the hartnell daleks of where they didnt have any slats on them. Plus the rim on the bottom of the cases are big and thick I think they got that idea from the dalek invasion of earth. Where they get the idea of making the rear obesed is beyond me. But I see where they're coming from though with their designs.

why make them different colours that makes no sense, come to think of it the whole entire episode made no sense either. what they should have done was just make them one colour and redisign their potrubences and place the story on another planet say like an unknown planet of skyro where the thalls are in hiding. too much emphasis has been placed on earth and no one has done a story about what has happened to the daleks protaganists the thalls.
I really like the new Daleks. I think maybe the yellow one is my favourite (although that may be becuase I am curious as to what 'Eternal' actually means rather than the colour). I like the idea of colour-coded ranks and it's good to have a new design. After seeing the bronze Daleks for 5 years I began to get a bit tired of them (but it was a bit sad to see them go the way they did). There are haters out there but as long as I myself like them, I'm fine.

I very much like the Stratagist (Blue) and Eternal (Yellow). I also like the shiny feel to their casings. It's good to have a change of Dalek. It confuses me, however, why people never complain about other colored daleks such as Dalek Sec and the Supreme from Journey's End.
I hate the new Daleks, I really do. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't all so brightly coloured. If they made them a darker orange, a darker yellow etc then I could deal with it. I'd still prefer the old ones, though.
My only complaint is that they are too...bright. maybe if they were more metallic colors it would be flawless

Respond to this video...dont get me wrong I do think they do look a little bit off with the obesed back on the rear of the cases. but the top half sort of resembles from the hartnell daleks of where they didnt have any slats on them. Plus the rim on the bottom of the cases are big and thick I think they got that idea from the dalek invasion of earth. Where they get the idea of making the rear obesed is beyond me. But I see where they're coming from though with their designs.

so is it because the new daleks are purer that they kill the oldish ones...? because it confused me... and after all that is the dalek objective... kill everything and anything that is different or inferior... suppose that means even there own kind.. was this the reason for it?

why make them different colours that makes no sense, come to think of it the whole entire episode made no sense either. what they should have done was just make them one colour and redisign their potrubences and place the story on another planet say like an unknown planet of skyro where the thalls are in hiding. too much emphasis has been placed on earth and no one has done a story about what has happened to the daleks protaganists the thalls.

I really like the new Daleks. I think maybe the yellow one is my favourite (although that may be becuase I am curious as to what 'Eternal' actually means rather than the colour). I like the idea of colour-coded ranks and it's good to have a new design. After seeing the bronze Daleks for 5 years I began to get a bit tired of them (but it was a bit sad to see them go the way they did). There are haters out there but as long as I myself like them, I'm fine.

I very much like the Stratagist (Blue) and Eternal (Yellow). I also like the shiny feel to their casings. It's good to have a change of Dalek. It confuses me, however, why people never complain about other colored daleks such as Dalek Sec and the Supreme from Journey's End.

I hate the new Daleks, I really do. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't all so brightly coloured. If they made them a darker orange, a darker yellow etc then I could deal with it. I'd still prefer the old ones, though.

@PS3Worshipper I know, but even changing the setting would make them look better.
The red druid would look great on a fire-world, for example.
Here its only brigth white and steel, only the supreme fits in and you don't even notice becose of the rainbow of Daleks around it.
