  • i have never seen a cicada and you you my friend have let me thanks

  • yeah i know. I read this article that said one single male can produce noise up to 80 decible. That's louder than two people talking. So imagine how loud that would be when there's millions of horny males around your house! Out there cocnerts were totally canceled because of this.

  • i've heard the noise this year, they came out in illionis now, it's deafening!

  • ppsshhh thats hardly "swarming" ive heard louder

  • gross

    why they so damn loud??

  • By vibrating the ribbed plates in a pair of amplifying cavities at the base of the abdomen, the mating sound of the cicada can be heard as far as 440 yards! These insect noisemakers rarely ever stop calling for a mate. The noise from large groups of cicadas can often drown out even the noisiest lawnmower.
