I don' know about iphone 3g camera but I do have two N900 devices because I just love it , what i want to say the n900 is a great geeky phone ever made BUT that's it , it has no great support like android phones or Iphones..thanks to the devs at maemo.org to keep maemo going.. Saddly I agree with the video above..Nokia has failed big time putting a 5MP cam with poor software in such powerful device; they should atleast packed it with a cam similar to the N86 8MP cam .. that would be GREAT!

lol this video is very misleading because my phone which is the N900 works perfect outside in the sun light ... there for, something is very wrong with your phone send it back and get it fixed... or you had like 20 apps open at the same time and that would be the reason for the lag... for I tried to get the same lag as you and could not get it to do so even with my music playin along with several apps open...... and as far as the iphone res being twice as low at the n900 lets just say...PWNED

why don`t you reverse the video mate?put the crappy iphone video on mainscreen.....then we can also talk about the crappy RESOLUTION of the iphone video.....by the way, the new N900 (PR1.1) firmware fixed the dropped frames...now the video are smoother.End of story

You're right, I should do that. But the results will still be the same. The frame rate on the N900 is poor, there's no two ways about it.

@jamesburland Very strange considering the N97s Frame rates are fine,

as as for handling direct sunlight. MY Canon 40D can't handle direct sunlight well and many times what you see on the screen does not represent the actual photo taken. non the less I'm glad you pointed this out because even with a Carl Zeiss lens & non optimal conditions such as stationary objects Nokia's cameras suck!

It's not just that the frame rate is lower, it's not at all steady on the N900, it's just a jerky mess in its current form.

u mean FPS ? and yes when you are watching vids the frame rate per second is 30 for the iphone and 25 for the n900 but n900 got 800x480 resoulution twice as much as iphone ;)

Unfortunately the N900 FPS is more like 21, and a very unsteady 21 at that. Just to clear up the pixel count issue. iPhone = 307200. N900 = 407040. Your comment about it being twice the res is misleading especially when you take into account the FPS :)

Huh this is defienetly not right. I have 3GS and N900 video recording sure isn't Iphones strong points. Already starting from the resolution that it can take. No contest there.

Plus try to record voice while recording video and you will see huge different there.

Obviously the Iphone will look like that cause the screen is small, blow up the iPhone video on fullscreen like the Nokia one and you will tons of pixeldrops and artifacts. Believe me i know, my sister has the 3GS and i have both N900 and Blackberry Bold. Bold sucks at these stuff bit N900 is way better than iPhone 3GS, this is misleading, something must be wrong with your N900, i have very smooth video, just like on my old N82.
