Interesting...I saw my Grandfather and Father do this in the late 70's. It was hard times or a quick solution for a primary tillage pass. But I recalled them both driving the tractors to control the throttles.
DrarrtGirl i dont think they needed 4 wheel driver in rantoul where the ground is completely flat
And if they needed more power they would of bought a fordson power major which costs less that two allis chalmers and is more power full than two allis chalmers,
and if you can tell me they had an exhausts like that in the 30rts and 40rts you havent got a clue about tractors
If I may interject, it's not so much destroying tractors as preserving a part of the history. On the tough ground you needed 4WD, but most tractors in the 30's and 40's were 2. These tandem rigs were built way back when people needed something like a Steiger, but Steigers hadn't been invented yet.
That Allis sounded great! By the way, you can see the back tire of my '36 Allis WC (it has a 2-row cultivator mounted on it) it's on the right as the other is pulling away. I picked corn with my other '36 WC at this show. I don't think there is any other show like it of it's kind, a must see. One being planned for 2009. Hope to see Ya'll there!
chugga81 shut up. a credit to the people???? what are you on about they are destroying tractors oh and dont send me your stupid 3 year old comment like you did to panoramaproductions because i actually have a collection of 40 tractors do you?
thats to bad that you see it that way but if you look at the history its almost common 3 of my friends neighbor either still have or had at one time tractors set up that way back in the days
Yes but its not history,it was just some farm modifications that ruined 2 tractors in the making, and my comment to DrarrtGirl will explain to you what i am on about
Yes,ever thought of a chain? then when you have finished, you unhook the chain and you have to tractors again, this has simply ruined a tractor that could of been restored to concourse standard, and even if this was a movement in to the future, don't you think a company would of already thought of this aka doe,s ?
well yes but of corse all you have to do is romove the simple mounting brackets un hook it from the other tracor a than put the oriinla front end on my neighbors up north used to do that with there 2 farmalls
You talk about it as if its a quick 5 minute job,and if it use to happen in the past, there would of been no hydraulic jacks or air drills, taking valuable time and effort, where if this was never done,2 tractors can plough twice as fast than 1 tractor dont you think?
Although you are very clever with the videos YOU make, can I ask why you felt you need to comment on not one but 2 peoples video's, when YOU rip off an Indiana Jones movie and post it on Youtube. Very original nOOb. In future leave your 17 year old veiws to yourself. Personally I've seen the amount of work, time and effort that goes into these tractors and they are an absoloute credit to the people who built them, well done, and a great video.
Excellent! Great ingenuity.
