My answer is simple, but you are trying to make it more simple than what it is. Distortion will get you nowhere. Defeating the Nazis in a war made it less likely for them to commit war crimes. That is it. It did not ensure peace. Had the Nazis looked past their brainwash and understanded themselves as not being seperate from the whole of humanity, they would have shown compassion towards those they had committed genocide against.
