They have that added elemenet. Stokley can mimick various instruments with his voice. It's second nature to him. Beyonce can sing and I can go to any black church and hear her.

Like others said, this is NOT her lane. This is not just singing a song accepella like Keyshia failed at doing(now THAT was terrible), this is getting up and doing what Stokely does on a regular basis as opposed someone who is used to performing on big venues rather than small intimate venues. People don't realize how hard it is to perform out of their comfort zone. Bey did great with that in mind.
Not to mention, from the 2:48-3:28 is why she has fans. Note, she only took ONE break in 40 seconds while melismatic phrasing(on the spot BTW). You might not like how she phrased or her tone, but that ALONE is impressive and again, it is not even her lane and she has improved from this moment.
And one last thing: What's real music? For example, there are classical music fans who think that Jazz sucks. Are they right?
Beyonce does look shy or uncomfortable. I've never seen her perform. I don't know much of her music. But I do know she doesn't use her voice like this on her radio hits. It doesn't sound this authentic on the radio because I think so much of radio play is OVER produced!
I don't know how percussionists do it! I'm not a musician, maybe that's why I'm impressed and so interested in what they do!
@rhondie4ever Beyonce is AMAZING live! I recommend you "The Beyonce Experience Live" DVD and "I Am...Yours" Live in Las Vegas. If you're interested, they're really good, even if you don't know much of her music. And I agree with you, Beyonce never releases songs that showcase her vocal talent, it's a shame, she is underrated vocally.
I say all this to say that smthcmnl is right for recommending the I Am Yours DVD and the Beyonce Experience because even though most of it is rehearshed. Not like this, they showcase what they bring to the table. Not to mention, the I Am...Yours DVD is a bit more intimate than what she is used to though still not like this video. I hope you enjoy it.
She was probably uncomfortable because believe it or not, when an artist is used to performing in big venues, for them to perform in a smaller, intimate venue is different for them. Plus, it was on the spot, and not asked to sing a song but do what Stokley was doing and it was in her Hometown too. That's a lot of pressure. LOL!!! Note at beginning, Stokley helping her get her nerves out by saying certain things to her.

Like others said, this is NOT her lane. This is not just singing a song accepella like Keyshia failed at doing(now THAT was terrible), this is getting up and doing what Stokely does on a regular basis as opposed someone who is used to performing on big venues rather than small intimate venues. People don't realize how hard it is to perform out of their comfort zone. Bey did great with that in mind.

Not to mention, from the 2:48-3:28 is why she has fans. Note, she only took ONE break in 40 seconds while melismatic phrasing(on the spot BTW). You might not like how she phrased or her tone, but that ALONE is impressive and again, it is not even her lane and she has improved from this moment.
And one last thing: What's real music? For example, there are classical music fans who think that Jazz sucks. Are they right?

Beyonce does look shy or uncomfortable. I've never seen her perform. I don't know much of her music. But I do know she doesn't use her voice like this on her radio hits. It doesn't sound this authentic on the radio because I think so much of radio play is OVER produced!
I don't know how percussionists do it! I'm not a musician, maybe that's why I'm impressed and so interested in what they do!

@rhondie4ever Beyonce is AMAZING live! I recommend you "The Beyonce Experience Live" DVD and "I Am...Yours" Live in Las Vegas. If you're interested, they're really good, even if you don't know much of her music. And I agree with you, Beyonce never releases songs that showcase her vocal talent, it's a shame, she is underrated vocally.

I say all this to say that smthcmnl is right for recommending the I Am Yours DVD and the Beyonce Experience because even though most of it is rehearshed. Not like this, they showcase what they bring to the table. Not to mention, the I Am...Yours DVD is a bit more intimate than what she is used to though still not like this video. I hope you enjoy it.

She was probably uncomfortable because believe it or not, when an artist is used to performing in big venues, for them to perform in a smaller, intimate venue is different for them. Plus, it was on the spot, and not asked to sing a song but do what Stokley was doing and it was in her Hometown too. That's a lot of pressure. LOL!!! Note at beginning, Stokley helping her get her nerves out by saying certain things to her.
