@ceciliawyu I have to agree with you. As much as I hate Lai for his vulgar tabloid journalism, he is the true voice of the freedom of the press in HK. Without him, I wonder what the HK journalism would become. I guess I'll take Jimmy Lai any day over newspapers that kowtow to Beijing.

Every modern societies (e.g. UK and Germany) have paparazzis. Nothing wrong with paparazzis. If you don't like the style of his magazines and papers, just don't buy them.

Uk have surveillance cameras (CCTV) spying on citizens in the streets, maybe we should follow them in that aspect too?

Just because everyone else have the same things doesn't make it suddenly alright. I'm not a lawyer, but I thought infringement of privacy was a CRIME.

This is HK, this is where we LIVE. Does the UK / Germany know better about how HK should act then we do ourselves?

I'm no hypocrite, I find no entertainment in snooping around other people's scandals and affairs.

UK has CCTVs everywhere because it is suffering from terror threats, and the surveillance law there was passed by a democratically elected parliament. If HK becomes a target of terrorists we will have CCTVs too and article 23 will be passed immediately.

I still consider paparazzi as something a good man does not put his buisness in. Mr. Lai is a mere buisnessman who thrives due to his contraversity.

You may find there is no entertainment in these magazines but many other HK people find them interesting. That's why other HK newspapers and magazines have papparazzis now too. Scandals (btw what's wrong with finding out about a scandal?), affairs and gossips have markets in HK. HK people are more interested in gossips than global affairs. You think I like gossips? As long as these media don't break the law, I see nothing wrong with the paparazzis.

This also gives Mr. Lai power to hound whoever he dislikes with his dog teams, to find anything that will discredit them.
