  • I wish I could show this to all the people who abandonned me and made fun of me.

  • I'm just extremly thankful that Misophonia is finally being recognized ! For years I thought I was the only one...that I was crazy. But finally people are begining to understand and see that this is a real problem, and we do need help ! What a relief to know atleast some people now will have the decency to chew with thier mouths closed and stop making such horrible we can't stand. But atleast were all together in this and have each other for support.

  • WOW I'm not alone and im only 13.. This is not something you can just deal with its like every day torture I can barley last at school I mean I would give a arm to get rid of this and it's really happening I'm not alone .....I hope there is a cure

  • Wow. I have this but I have lessened the rage affect by trying to be empathetic to the person making the noise. Over the years, it's helped me get over crunching bothering me, but I don't think that slimy noise will ever NOT bother me.

  • i have this.

  • I am Arab , and I think no one in the Middle East has an idea about it , there is no even one article about Misophonia written in Arabic .

  • They should find a treatment asap before we die because of these sounds .

  • If they wanted people with Misophonia to watch this segment - which I wanted to because I thought I'd get some more info - why the F did they include the goddamn sounds??? I mean come on, how insulting can you be? I had to stop this vid at 0:37, I just could not take it without feeling like smashing my monitor or something. They said at the start that these noises cause "major anxiety", so they wanted to trigger an attack for sufferers? The Today Show is filled with insensitive rejects.

  • wear earplugs when you need them. it is very help ful to me.

my mom got me tan colored ones that matches my skin so

they're less noticeable. you can still hear people talk and

other things, but its not as loud and it doesn't bother me

when i wear them. use them until we find a cure!

  • ALRIGHT JESUS CHRIST!! People with this disease are watching the vid u dont need to include the sound retards!!!

  • lol finally i know why my brother gets so pissed off at small noises!

  • Oh God, I'm so happy and sad at the same time. I've had to hear that I'm a freak and everything else because I know exactly what the lady means starting at 1:50. It is so horrid having to hear those,"Mouth Sounds" and it puts you in a pure rage. Oh God I hope somebody finds a cure soon.

  • i think sign language is an intersting idea, but others would have to be supportive (and reasonably intelligent) and learn it too; and if i wanted to use sign language id have stabbed my ears out a long time ago. as far as cures go, i think it will be a race between customized noise canceling earbuds, and an actually useful medication. As far as detecting where the problem lies, advanced brain scans are necessary. As usual, technology is the only hope in all these scenarios. NOT RELIGION.

  • For more current information from knowledgeable sources, or to find support forums, check out the links in the summary section under the video.

  • I've had Misophonia since I was ten. I've never gotten over it, rather I've learned tricks to help me stay calmer in situations where people are eating, or chewing gum or slurping. I know never to go into a situation angry or with anxiety about something else. It only makes it worse. I always have my ipod and headphones on me. . I remove myself from a lot of situations. I also learned sign language so I could finger-spell my feelings or what I want to say, that way I don't need to cause a scene

  • Woh... I almost destroyed my computer at the beginning with all those sounds...

  • I've been suffering from Misophonia for more than 5 years from I can remember. I only found out about this today. My family just won't understand me and believes that its me and ask me to ignore it but I simply can't. Now I told them about myself suffering from Misophonia but they still wouldn't believe me. Does anyone have any ways to calm themselves down from those sounds and ignore it?

  • @blurhxxdreamer open the webpage and (if youre on a laptop) shove it in their face and make them watch the video or read a webpage about it! if you only have a desktop them sit them down infront of it! They are going to need to know about it before you really can do anything. If they still dont believe you then print out some articles about it and take it to your school counslor (i did this). He let all of my teachers know and i can take tests in quiet rooms and other things that are helpful.

  • I have had misophonia since I was twelve, and it has steadily gotten worse and it went from occasional difficulty to now frequent hardship every time I even hear anyone kiss or smack their lips. That is Hell!!!! I would rather have my privates cut off without anesthesia than hear those sounds. It makes me want to KILL or stab a knife into one ear and out the other. I can't bear it! And it's everywhere, especially where I live! For so long I thought I was the only one until I looked it up.

  • I have this! It's awful! No one believes me when I tell them! Not even my family. When I try to explain it to them, they just get annoyed/angry and tell me to just ignore it, but I CAN'T. :(

  • I have just had a huge argument with my family, I have tried telling them about my misophonia but they still don't understand that I simply can't help it. I feel like shit because of it!! Surely they can make a cure like an operation or maybe those ear things deaf people wear that can disort certain noises and don't process the noise so we don't hear it? Just a thought :)

  • The only cure for now is a bullet to your fucking head. Goddamn this sucks.

  • please let there be a cure before i lose all my relationships with family and friends:(

  • Its horrible, cant control it, cant be along with others.

hope they find a cure, or i'll smash my head

  • THIS IS MY LIFE ARGGHHH

Everyone is always making fun of me and giving me a hard time and im like I DONT WANT TO BE LIKE THIS

  • hearing was making me cringe and when they got to the 'hungry dog' i had to mute, i have had this since i was a kid and it's worse now, i am 57

  • why the hell would they put every sound i hate in the video. i cant even watch this.

  • @fish1479 that is what i am screaming!!! they apparently don't want misophonics to watch the damned thing. i wanted to punch my computer! but i also wanted to see what they had to say about it...ugh. it is like books about PTSD and abuse, they go into massive detail about the abuse/trauma to the point it causes flashbacks! that is totally counterproductive!

i'm trying to resist the urge to write the show and yell at them. stupid today show!

  • my daughter and I are laughin so hard watchin this and readin about misaphonia because we also have it. For years I have asked doctors and phycologists and not one had a acceptable answer until now,,,THANK GOD!!! My boyfreind and I just figured it had to be an inner ear problem....I am 41 and have been dealin with this for so long and it is hard to make others understand and not take it as a personal attack on them. Once again, THANK GOD there is name for it, I am relieved...

  • Oh. My. God. This is me 100%. I'm so grateful to know that I'm not just a drama queen or a jerk or over reacting- it's an actual condition. The sound of my mom chewing gum in the car today made me want to jump out of the car or punch her in the face. And of course the guilt that comes with those feelings because it's not her fault...it's just gum...but it ruins my entire night.

  • had to rip my headphones out at 0:38

  • i have had this since i was a kid, when i heard that faucet dripping even on the video i cringed and said out loud OH MY GOD!!!

  • My son has this but also certain visual repetitive movements drive him up a wall. So he has sight and sound stimulus to deal with.

  • Well who wouldn't go crazy hearing this, I mean the people they put in this video chew like cows with their mouths open & smack when they eat. Who doesn't go crazy whenyou hear the constant drip of a water faucet I can understand some people unfortunately not being able to handle the "normal" noises one makes when eating with manners. However the people in this video chewed like pigs.

  • Real nice how they put the eating noise in to drive us crazy.

  • im soo happy someone else feels the same i hate small noises it drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!! i want a cure

  • Now all we need is a god damn Cure!

  • @HowToDs I also have misophonia, and I have heard of something that has been known to CURE misophonia. I haven't tried it yet myself, but its called Schema Conditioning Psychotherapy. Good luck!

  • Well done :D

  • thanks to this, i now know what i have! thank you Today Show for doing this story!

  • It was so great seeing this segment, I finally had a name to go with the thing that has made my life a living hell. Thank you Today show!!

  • Thank God for this report. I thought my son was just being difficult when he fussed and fussed about hearing people chew.

  • I used to think I was just an asshole...lol.

  • Thank good this is finally diagnosed. I've lived with this condition my entire life.

  • The triggers at the beginning of the video almost dissuaded me from watching the rest... but overall, I think it was a well-done segment and I'm so pleased to see Misophonia gaining traction in mainstream media coverage!
