@Wehrheer Download Irfanview, save the image as a .PNG and use the Alpha channel selection to select the green. This should fix things. I can't link in comments, but Irfanview is easily found using Google.
I can say as a spriter myself, you do quite a decent job with what you do and the tutorial is fairly simple for people to follow. I mostly tend to go with simpler, like 8-bit designs since the amount of detail is limited an thus more can be done in that manner.
The music is a piece that I put in there with AudioSwap from YouTube. It's A Sad Pathway from Musicshake in the category Instrumental. I'm not sure how free it is to use, but you might be able to use it for a trailer?
Yes, MsPaint is very simple, but also very powerful. A lot of people underestimate it's brilliance because they think a good program needs an interface that looks like a real maze and all kinds of filters you rarely use. The only downside of Paint is that it has limits for undo.
Well, I actually figured it out, but I have a new question, is it possible to draw your own tiles? To give you an idea of what Im shooting for, I'm looking to draw up a mech kneeling down, so it obviously means they'll have to be bigger than the standard 32 X 32, any suggestions?
That's possible. But do you want to make a mech out of tiles or as a character? Characters can be as wide and tall as you want, but they will only be solid at a base square of 32x32 (middle bottom part of the character).
For tiles, just draw the mecha and place him correctly in TileE (or wherever you have the room to place him). If you have trouble with lining him up, try getting a grid to correctly place the tiles. There are quite some to find on the internet. Just search on RM forums. ;3
Oh, really? I thought that characters could only be 32 x 32, I'd like for the mechs to be about twice as tall as a regular sprite. Anyway, I just need to know if making them in something as basic as paint would work?
Posted the image links in the description. They're not direct - I took my base sprites off of a Japanese character creator. You have to click the button just below the example sprite to download the example sprite to your harddrive. It's wearing underwear by default.
Of course. But this tutorial doesn't really focus on full sets, so the result of it isn't directly usable.
It focusses on how to use image editing software to learn the basics of spriting - this means you should be able to use the things you learn from it to create full sets yourself.
If you're unsure how it works yourself, feel free to ask.
Yes, I did. I find it very convenient for spriting work. It's a lot easier to use than all the other spriting programs which I've seen. And free too. ;)
If you look around on RPG Maker forums you can find these with ease. They aren't hard to find if you use the keywords "RPG Maker" and "base" or "template".
What is the name of this song :) ? Nice tutorial !

So, did you use just windows paint to do this? Exactly how would I import this picture into the program, excuse the noobish request please ^^

What exactly is the problem - importing the picture or saving it to your harddrive?
