Hey! My name is Jim, I'm a Producer at Canada's Weather Network. Would love to use your video for our broadcast. Please let me know whether we can. Thanks!
Now, imagine if you experienced time like this. You could take a leisurely stroll and walk 25 yards during the strike... but to everyone else, you wouldn't be visible - you move to fast!
@passthepuckca When a charge pocket in the cloud reaches a critical level the eletcric field strips electrons from air molecules and accelerates them creating an electron avalanche. The avalanche are the bright tips you see going to the ground. They split at certain places because of instability. The avalanches are like wires and when a tip is about 150ft from the strike point, an electric spark jumps from the ground to the avalanche tip and current flows = lightning strike.
@boilerup11ev It's people like that who love this kind of stuff that help design and build the things you use on a daily basis to make your life better. If you want to point the douchebag finger, find a mirror.
wow... look at that physics... I can just see it.... the first lightning charge is ionising the air, by giving it electrons. Than once it reaches the ground it creates a more conductive path which the rest of the electricity passes you see this a the bright flash that comes after the fist lighning fork hits the ground!
