I never get tired of this scene. It's so funny. I know that people are all like 'Amy's character has really evolved from a female Sheldon copy...etc' and that's true - but I can't help but feel that this was the exact sort of reaction Sheldon had to first putting on his Flash costume. I love how Amy has evolved as a character. In the beginning, she just was a wooden, forgettable, character that mirrored Sheldon's personality, but now she has her own personality and is slowly becoming a fan favorite. She is now my favorite female cast member on TBBT. Go AMY!!!

Just as a general statement, shipping Sheldon with ANYONE defeats the purpose of his character's implicit asexuality and difficulty with relationships.

As much as I loved it when Sheldon disliked people in general I love the fact that Amy brings out a more friendly side of Sheldon and I love Amy as a character.

Sheldon will always be his own special version of socially awkward but there wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) be a show if he doesn't change at least a little. I never saw it implied anywhere that Sheldon was asexual. He was likened to Spock several times and while Vulcans do hide their emotions, they still engage in the act of mating. Also Spock is half human so his emotions are stronger than those of normal Vulcans. I see Sheldon the same way.

With all the people he's been associating with and experiences he's been having it would be unrealistic for him to never grow as a person IMO. Not that he'll ever stop being Sheldon with his lack of conventional social interactions but I feel like for him to open up more over time is only natural. Penny, the guys, and Amy have all had an influence on him.

Now that's a relationship true to the core of what this show is about.
