  • do they sell it in pink?

  • One person who dislike because he was one who in the video ....

  • At one point, they even considered mounting two of these to a CH-47 Chinook. Imagine that... a helicopter with 105mm howitzers on it. Crazy stuff, huh?

  • Would there be any disadvantages to tank cannons using a soft recoil system?

  • I think Ronald Reagan narrated this.

  • EFFFFF JUST SHOOT IT

  • Heh. It don't look good. 105mm should be designed with direct fire in mind in addition to traditional indirect howitzer role. They should come up with a dual recoil system like they had with the 280mm Atomic Annie, and the option of adding a armored sheath like the Russians usually have on their howitzers.

  • Of course making it light as possible with lighter steel like Titanium like the M777, and a low profile as possible.

  • what dont look good ? for me its the best design ever see ;

    is not direct fire capable ?(dont hearn speaks)

  • Not really effective at direct fire. You have to have a independent operator to traverse the weapon infront of the cannon, which is not good good for direct fire, as in high level situation requires quick firing, and quick adjustment for the howitzer especially for armed vehicle. The Russian D-30 is better suited for such a role other than the fact it needs to anchored to the ground during set up.

  • obivous but the first requirement for direct fire is minimal negative elevation that is not always possible (as mortar that can be devastating if man make a ground slope)

    but ability to self defence by firing a 360° single shoot is very important for the crew morale ;

    i think the anchor need a engine for being removed

  • Was this project cancelled? I can't find any information on it.

  • Yes, it was...

  • Thats a shame, I wonder what for... weight perhaps?

  • @HunterGregorySr AFAIK electronic sensors and striker release system were used to compensate for different shell types and adjustable charges. The howitzer failed some military reliability tests.

  • Thanks, that makes sense to me. It reminds me of the an-94, a remarkable feat of engineering, but in the field it's just another overcomplicated solution to a less than serious problem.
