Hey man! I know exactly how you feel. I've been unemployed for several weeks now - not as bad as 6 months, but still in the position. I did have some full time work a week ago, but the contract was signed over to another 'more experienced' company. It definitely plays on your self esteem & confidence - especially when your finances aren't the best either. But you are very right - going after it yourself is really the only way to fix the situation.
